Ah, the end of November. I now have twenty five days to get some semblance of Christmas Spirit.

Last night I used my InstantPot to make a pasta with meatballs, sausage, and cheese dish. I also brought along some (unfortunately disappointing) garlic knots and proceeded to set off Betsy’s new smoke detectors by using her air fryer to heat them up. Well, at least she knows the smoke detectors work! Dinner was good, and I was home early enough to work off some of the calories I consumed, but alas I fell asleep watching TV instead.

More choring on my agenda today. I will be swinging by CHaRM to rid the ITP Estate of some styrofoam, as well as a large sack of cables and electronics brought up from Florida. I also need to go to the post office in order to pick up any mail that was held during my Raleigh excursion. And finally, while I did a fantastic job of clearing out plants in WLF yesterday, I still have to do some water storage management today, and if time permits, put some winter tolerant plants into the newly opened spaces.

Wordle: three, my starter was FIGHT
Connections: perfect, Blue > Purple > Yellow > Green

    Wordle in 3.

Another pretty long day at OEB. A lot got accomplished and some testing has been completed. After work I managed 25 minutes on the treadmill here at the hotel. Half a leftover lunch sandwich for dinner. Debbie has already advised me that she will be coming on the next trip so she can go to the city.

Will be glad to get home to be able to prepare for this weekends very wet, bicycle racing.

Good morning. Wordle in 4 starting with CLOUD. Perfect Connections yellow, purple, blue, green.

Not much to report. Day 2 of me in charge went smoothly. No mishaps or commuter issues. We’ll see what day 3 brings.

I am so far behind in yard work and no time to get it done. Hard enough just trying to keep my house in order. 2 more moons with the dogs and then I drop them off at the pet resort for 3 more moons until their parental units return from Africa.

Hope David is having a great time in Arizona.

Greetings from the south rim of the grand canyon. My hotel room is 900 feet from the Bright Angel Trail that I will be hiking on. They are closing the trail for maintenance tomorrow, so my knack for getting in under the wire continues on in life.

My very preliminary plan is to hike to the 3 mile resthouse and see how I’m feeling. I do not want my return back up to be a death march. I have lots of snacks and fluids. Depending upon when I get back I’ll ride one of shuttle busses along the rim to the places where cars are now banned.

Going all the way to Indian Gardens would be a huge climb out so stopping at the 3 mile rest house is a good option. Are you staying at the Bright Angle Lodge? Or the swanky El Tovar Hotel? Have fun and be safe.

      • What does Sal know about the Grand Canyon? 😀 I say go for it, and ditch the water, it’s just weighing you down!!! (this is far from good advice)

        Enjoy your hike.

Hah! I’m at the Maswik Lodge. My room is far nicer than I expected for the money. It snowed last night. I made my way to the trail and realized I had left part of my fluids ans all of my ibuprofen and lip balm so I went back because the sun isn’t yet anyway. I’m going to assess at 3 mile, and might push on to Haviasu Gardens but no further that.

Alrighty, I’m off! No hiking poles, no crampons, I will just be watching where I put m my feet and holding onto the wall.

Dude. Are you up at 4:00 am?!

Day 1 of demo went well, although I am surprised they didn’t get all of it done in one day. The entire master bath is gutted but only half the kitchen is done. Ironically I received a cookbook I ordered on the same day that they rip out my kitchen! Pic below.

Kevin had a work dinner so Finn and I went to Surin. The queen bed is very comfy and it is really quiet downstairs, so I actually slept almost up to my alarm!

    • Barb says:

nice on the cookbook arrival date.

      Good times on the demo.

    • I’m a little envious that you are undertaking this, which should sound odd to anti who has read this space for the past nineteen years.

Our house on the whole is fine, but there are so many little things that are inconvenient. When we decided to stick it out in this house until retirement, we vowed to do the things that will make it easier. In this project, the real value is that we are replacing all of the (noisy) ceiling fans and painting the living room, dining room, and kitchen which are currently a babyshit brown color. New countertops are just the fun part.

  5. Done with CHaRM and post office. Now some WLF choring…

  6. Jenka says:

One mistake in Connections: yellow > blue> purple > green. I never would’ve gotten green in a million years.

I’m in the middle of Wordle and need to let it sit for a couple hours.

  7. Debbie says:

Wordle in 5 and Conniptions fail.

A full day of errands and chores on my plate before heading out of town for a girls with horses weekend in Aiken, SC. The weather does not look promising but we will persevere.

I’m returning Chicken Little and taking Sunny, a former Hot Pursuit Farm resident along to ride.

Enjoy the Grand Canyon David! I read the Bright Angel book about a dozen times as a kid so I feel like I know the trail, lol.

  8. Out in WLF. Harvesting potatoes (very small) and ginger(!) today. Normally I’m more of a Marianne sort of guy, but she’s not in WLF…

  9. David says:

I made it to 3-mile rest house. Pushing onto Havisu Gardens. Will definitely turn around at that point.

    • David says:

Sal’s not kidding about that serious climb back out. Nonetheless I’m forging on.

      • Barb says:

        you can do it!!!

      • steve says:

Left, right, repeat. You got this. Sal is just a show off!

        • David says:

LOL! I was talking to a woman named Bridgette, she’s from Louisiana. Her goal is to make it to the river, which the rangers highly discourage. There’s a pretty flat and sandy stretch once you get into the bottom of the canyon so I decided to roll along and give it a shot. Bridgette stopped for a break so I kept going. I got as far as a serious set of switchbacks and nope! I’m headed back toward the top. It’ll probably be an 12 or 13 mile hike, I’m completely good with that. Bridgette is apparently heading to the river, hopefully she accomplishes her goal.

          • David says:

Whew! I’m back to the Three Mile Resthouse and it’s only 12:30. I am making killer time. Perhaps I could have made it to the river after all. Regardless, I had a visceral reaction to that giant set of switchbacks and so I have no regrets. I also didn’t want to create a death march for myself. I am trying to act my age and not my shoe size for a change. 🙂

  10. David says:

Forgot to say earlier, Wordle in 2, only one mistake on Connections. There’s pretty solid cell phone service in the canyon for the first 4 miles or so. I have some serious climbing ahead of me the rest of the day.
