So far it’s been a decent Florida trip. I spent most of Christmas in Bradenton, visiting with a friend and then eating an expensive dinner to celebrate the holiday.

Today I’ll be in St Petersburg, visiting a friend, eating a free meal to celebrate the day after the holiday.

Eventually I want to break out of this eating/drinking cycle and get some more chores done at the Florida house.

I’ve apparently am also taking a Duolingo break since I’ve not had any time alone to get in a practice since Saturday.

Wordle: four, my starter was DAILY. I forgot today was my 666th attempt at Wordle, which is too bad since I was going to start with DEVIL today.
Connections: disaster, Yellow > X > X > X

Greetings from Gate B36, from which I’ll decamp to NYC for two nights and one night in Philly. It’s a father-son trip, which is always a special time.

Wordle in 4, Conniptions: fuck that shit. Paulie, I followed your trajectory.

Wordle in 3 and Connections with a couple errors.

A quiet Christmas. Sausage gravy and biscuits for breakfast and meatloaf for dinner.

Debbie has always wanted to learn wood turning and Erection Master has several lathes in his shop, so I reached out to him about a little introductory course and he was quite willing.

Debbie gave me a tool I asked for and a bundle of shop cloth’s. I have a thing for good shop rags (Dad always had a supply from where he worked).

Off to the Boxing Day hunt in a little while. We’ll road whip and I’ll have my laptop with me, just in case I’m needed.

  3. Just finished a three mile walk, and am sweating profusely. Oh humidity…

  4. Our (Hank and me) host, our friend Dave was sick overnight. We ate most of the same thing for dinner, but he did eat a couple of other things so perhaps that is what got him? I feel fine, well, as fine as I ever feel.

Busy weekend – sorry never looked at this site yesterday.
Saturday was a walkabout in Roswell, an airport run to ship the in-laws to Spain, then I had the house to myself to do nothing the rest of the day.

Christmas Eve prime rib came out excellent – good gathering of 8 people (the max my dining room will hold)
Went to Waffle House Christmas morning – our young waiter had been working since 2am & was trying so hard – he was so shocked when we gave him a bigger than average tip.
Afternoon spent at Red’s Beer Garden, that place was busy.
Then dinner at a friends house, as her daughter had to bail on Christmas by having Covid, so they had too much food.

    • Did Davey and Chew Chew run food at Red’s? They mentioned they might at Shakespeare Tavern.

      • Barb says:

they did – as did Alexis.
But – it wasn’t that crazy busy food wise, so they only worked maybe an hour before they were told to just sit down & drink. It was rainy outside, so I think some customers might have skipped going as they knew it would be crowded inside.
And – I guess some more of the Red’s actual employees came in to work too.

The fox hunt has more road whips than riders, i fear. 10 at our location and 2 forward of that.

  7. Barb says:

yellow – then green – and wasted all the rest of the guesses on Blue
    OH Well –

Wordle in 3 – good lucky 2nd guess

    Mini – I was horrible –

We made it to our resort at like 6:00 and our room wasn’t ready (?) so we went to the seafood restaurant and had a nice dinner. Made it to our room which has a swim out pool. We were tired so we just sat on our patio and swam all evening. I floated in the water looking at the moon. It was goddamned magical!

Today’s order of business is to read our books by the pool. The end.

Kevin has finally been convinced that he might enjoy audiobooks (I still call them books on tape). His eyes are so bad that he can’t read a regular book anymore because he can’t make the font bigger. So we got him an iPad and downloaded the Audible app and the Kindle app. And movies. He was so happy on the plane yesterday!

Wordle in 4 using Paulie’s word.

Complete crash and burn on Conniptions without a single category. I knew all the categories there were just so many words that could go two ways.
