2024-01-05

I expect to arrive home today to dead seedlings that received no care since before Christmas.

While not a Monumental Decision, or perhaps it is, I think that WLF is going to be highly diminished in 2024. Why? My travel schedule, mainly. I am certainly no Jenka, but I intend to travel to Florida again for at least two weeks of February, drive to New York to bury my mother sometime in the spring or summer, spend a week away for BRAG, and travel to Europe for at least two weeks. And these are the trips on the calendar as of now! When will I have sufficient time to plant, care for, and harvest? Hell, I might not be employable with that schedule either, though I could certainly use the salary…

I spent my last night walking up to “Downtown” Dunedin to hit a few breweries. At my first stop a woman offered to buy me a Sierra Nevada, because she’s a rep for them. Turned out she lived in Atlanta once, working for Terrapin, until they sold out. She also knew Sani’s grandson in law Chris, who is also a Sierra Nevada rep. Before I left the brewery Chris had texted that she met “Paul Little Nut” at the brewery to the Raleigh Royalty. Hahahahaha.

Happy birthday Steve. Enjoy your lunch.

Wordle: two, my starter was LAUGH
Connections: perfect, Yellow > Blue > Green > Purple

  1. Waffle House breakfast, next best thing to being at Steveโ€™s birthday lunch.

  2. Sally says:

You do have a busy travel scheduled planned for 2024! Live your life Paul Little Nut!

Wordle in 2 starting with LARGE. One mistake in Connections. Yellow, Purple, Green, Blue.

Happy Birthday Steve. I will see you later today. :).

2nd place at Trivia. I think mainly because a couple of teams that normally play weren’t there last night. We’re not that bright. hahahaha

Been throwing around ideas for this year’s Chattahooligan Team Jerseys. Not sure if Bob is doing dry January or not…but he usually comes up with some of his best ideas while drinking.

  3. Barb says:

look at you – talking to a girl you don’t know! ๐Ÿ˜‰
Did you take the free beer? I hope so.

Walked down to Harry’s to see Sally & her gang for trivia.
I actually got a couple answers right – I feel so smart today.

My company put out some website/app that has coupons for discounts here & there. Well – there was 1 for Harry’s – and guess what – it was no good. I’ll try another one someday – I don’t have high hopes that this “perk” will be worth anything.

  4. Barb says:

and Happy Birthday Steve! See you at lunch!
Shoot me your real time ETA

  5. Debbie says:

On the way to our eye appointments, I read the blog to see and he got the giggles over Paul Little Nut!

    Safe drive home PLN!

Wordle in 5, one mistake in Connections.

Looking forward to seeing some of yโ€™all at lunch.

  6. Debbie says:

Steve not see. Although itโ€™s an appropriate typo for seeing the eye doctor. Clearly the visit is warranted. Doh!

  7. Barb says:

    Blue – Yellow – Green – Purple
that took more thought than I wanted it too

Wordle in 2 again – good 1st word Paulie!

  8. David says:

I got Wordle in 2 as well but started with REIGN. Clean sweep on Connections.

Today was a massage day, and good lord did I need it.

Happy birthday, Steve, and Paulie, kudos on your elaborate conversation that the free beer sparked. That’s good stuff.

    • Good Job! I may start with REIGN again tomorrow.

I had some good bar conversations on this trip. For whatever reason people interacted more down there than they do up here.

      • David says:

It means that you’re looking approachable, which is a good thing. Plus, isn’t *everyone* in Florida retired? People in Atlanta have jobs to go to. ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿ˜‰ Seriously, though, it’s a good thing to be approachable. I was conditioned to be unapproachable and it worked until one day I could finally see it and start unraveling it.

  9. Jenka says:

Hello from the beach at the Southernmost point in the US! Itโ€™s a beautiful sunny day in the 70s and we are chilling. Reservations for an early dinner at a restaurant called Little Pearl.

Yesterday the workmen attempted to install the stove and the downdraft duct. While trying to install the duct they discovered a plumbing pipe that needs to be moved. The contractor says they can do that today. Once the stove is installed we can move full speed ahead with the rest of the kitchen. Fingers crossed they get it done today!

  10. Jenka says:

Happy birthday, Steve! Raising a Landshark Lager in your honor!

  11. Is the birthday boy holding a grudge because I didnโ€™t make it back for his lunch? ๐Ÿ™‚

  12. Jenka says:

Wordle in 2 using Paulineโ€™s word!

Connections with one mistake: yellow > green > blue > purple.

  13. Steve says:

    Wordle in 4, Conniptions FAIL

I’m not holding a grudge, I’ve only just now had a moment to surf and catch up.

Eye Doc says all good, tweaked the useless script for computer glasses he wrote last year. Delightful lunch with the Groves and Sal- we might have talked about you, since you weren’t there to defend yourself.

And as for your travel schedule for the coming year, did you win the lottery and not tell anyone? Ive got a full time job and plenty of vaca and I can’t do all that! Oh yeah, my wife has horses.

Thank you all for the birthday wishes.

  14. Barb says:

we might go to the American Legion this evening – cold cheap beer could be an idea.

And – I just got an email from someone names Pauline – how’s that for full circle (and she works for a trucking company in FL)
