Yesterday was a day of choring and drinking. I sort of wish that the ibuprofen I take today was for a hangover rather than the annoying pain in my right forearm and elbow.

I do find it interesting that each Ace Hardware store I visit has different stock and pricing for the same items sold in other Ace Hardware stores. Wait, that’s not interesting, that’s rather frustrating.

Wordle: three, my starter was CURVE
Connections: FAIL, Purple > Yellow > X > X

Wordle streak of 1!! In 5. Had all but the first letter in 2!

A very busy day “at work” yesterday, then it was on to attacking bamboo! Our little patch has gone full blown invasive since the horses are currently locked out of the front pasture. The thought was to let the grass get a good head start before we let them loose on it, but the bamboo had the same idea. The horses love to nibble on the bamboo and that generally keeps it in check. I’m sure this won’t be my only effort to fight it.

David, thanks for checking in on my Excel battle. I think once I do some data cleanup, things will be easier.

Wordle in 4 starting with FANCY. Connections: Yellow, Green, Purple, Blue. Had to use a couple of hints to get today’s Strands.

Bamboo is hard to get rid of. You’d have to dig out the entire root system.

Huge crowd last night at the Smyrna Group run. Pizza and beer were good too. Hot muggy though. GUTS run tonight at Kennesaw. It’s 1st Tuesday, so more beer and pizza. :). Can’t lose any weight this way!

Probably drive up to see mom this morning. Hope to get my grass cut. I may drop my bike off at Allan’s for a BRAG tune-up. It’ll depend on how I manage my time today.

    • I used one hint for Strands and then I was off to the races. The blue and green in today’s Connections just toyed with me.

I need to get my ride to Allan for a pre-BRAG once-over.

Looked at my lawn, and while it does need to be mowed I may allow it to grow for another day or two so the bugs can visit the clover.

      • Sal says:

I work all day tomorrow and then leaving to go backpacking, so I need to get it cut today!

    • Steve says:

Sally, you need to lose weight like I need to gain it! Please. You need to stand in 2 spots to make a shadow as it is!

  3. Not ignoring you all today, email tubes notifying me of comments are clogged again.

nothing exciting going on here in GA.

HyVee had the skinless brats on sale over the weekend, but were out of the bacon cheddar ones on Sunday. The meat counter guy said they’d get some in for Monday – so I drove ALL THE WAY out there (like 10 minutes – the closer store is smaller so I knew they wouldn’t have any) and they didn’t come in!!! I was annoyed. Oh well.

I need to go to Kohls (Amazon desk) to return a clock we bought for the living room wall to see if it would help with my dad asking what day it is, but only in the fine print did I find that it doesn’t have a battery.
The next one should arrive today.

  5. Barb says:

oh yeah – something else did happen.
My cousin & his son stopped by.
Crazy (tragic) thing happened to him-
He decided to not have health insurance (or, just doesn’t go to the doc) as he’s self-employed – got an infection in his foot, let it get so bad he had to go to the ER, and they had to amputate his foot! I can’t even imagine his medical bills now.
We did laugh, his mom (who was paralyzed & in a wheelchair) died more than a few years ago, and his dad hasn’t gotten rid of much. So – he has a wheelchair to use. Its gonna take months & months for his leg to get healed & get a prosthetic. He’s in pretty good spirits about it – considering everything.

Wordle in 4 but I cheated
Connections came right to me Yellow-Blue-Green-Purple
We replaced our stove over a year ago switching from electric to gas. Laura has been on me for almost that whole time to install a vent hood. Finally had it installed yesterday and thank god I didn’t try to do it myself. Handyman took the entire day to get it done which means it would have taken me FOREVER to complete.
Going to look at a car for Travis this afternoon. Toyota Camry, hard to mess up a Camry.
Tomorrow is the appointment for Travis to take his drivers test. Test is in Kennesaw so Barb and Sally be on the lookout 🙂

    • Jenka says:

Yeah, that’s a real fire hazard to not have a properly working vent hood.

It’s funny because our broken vent hood was the catalyst for our entire reno this past winter. It hung down in between the kitchen and dining room and really got in the way of the flow — AND it didn’t work. So I was like, I’d really like to get rid of this vent hood and have a down draft. And while we’re doing that we should replace the counters. And Kevin was like, well if we’re doing all that I’d like to do our master bath. And thus it snowballed!

      • Barb says:

Gotta like that type of snowball!!!

Bob – you never had a vent hood? At all ?

        • Bob says:

Never had a vent hood, figured we didn’t need it with electric stove. If something burned and it got smokey we just kick on the attic fan and the house is cleared out in like 30 seconds.

      • Bob says:

I can see that snowball happening and gaining momentum. Thankfully this will be it for now.
Laura read something about natural gas and health risks so went full court press to get the hood installed. I’m a pretty good defender if you can’t tell 🙂

        • Steve says:

Not sure how it got permitted without a vent hood…

And as far as that natural gas causing brain damage, I just never UnDeRsToOd it… hahahaha

  7. Jenka says:

Yesterday I had a BRUTAL three hour faculty meeting that I am still recovering from. 🙂 Last one of the year so I have a three month respite.

We went up to the cabin for the weekend. It was nice but I worked at least 4-5 hours each day getting ready for the meeting. Hey, I’d rather work on my deck in the mountains with a glass of champers next to me than in the office!

Funny thing: Kevin accidentally (absentmindedly) left my laptop on top of the car while he was packing it up on Sunday to go home. It fell off while we were driving and some guy found it and searched online and found us! He left a message on Kevin’s work line that he had found our laptop in the Coosawattee and it was fine. Apparently he is a repo man so he knows how to find people! Times like this that keep me believing that most people are good!

    • Barb says:

      holy crap Jenka!!!
      how did he find you?
did he give you any hints?

      • Jenka says:

I’m not sure, Kevin spoke to him. But Kevin said he knew a LOT of things about us! Creepy…

    • David says:

Holy fuck! Back in the 90s I once set my laptop down behind my car, and almost drove over it. Had I not gotten out of the car to refresh the discs in my 6 disc CD changer I would have absolutely driven over my laptop. As a matter of policy, I do my damned best to never put *anything* on the top of my car. I sometimes slip up just to remind myself why.

  8. Barb says:

I had to google the Strands answers – some of them I have never really heard of.

    Wordle in 3 at least.

Conniptions for me today- I get focused on 1 idea sometimes & just waste answers

  9. Apple announced new iPads today. Unfortunately none of them are iPad Mini. I was going to consider buying a new iPad Mini to take to Europe this year. Oh well, money saved.

    • Just looked it up, the last time Apple released a new iPad Mini was in September 2021! I guess it’s a dead product.

      • Barb says:

isn’t the Ipad Mini about the same size as the biggest phone these days?

        • Jenka says:

^This. There’s no point to it.

          • Barb says:

when I get a new iPad (which I am due – mine is old) it will be a big screen. But mine hasn’t died yet- so I keep plugging away with it

          • The iPad Mini was great the last time I went to Europe. It’s screen is big enough to be an ebook reader, and it’s small enough to fit into a hotel safe.

I still have an old iPad Mini, but it has problems and reboots sporadically. This is too bad, because I also have a keyboard case which works really well with an iPad of that size.

        • No, it’s larger.

There is a point to it, otherwise Apple would remove it from sale. Why they haven’t updated it in three years confuses me.

Even more frustrating is that Apple rarely reduces the prices of things, so a 2021 iPad Mini purchase today costs the same as when it was first released in 2021.

  10. David says:

Nothing to report today, barely time to breathe. Definitely no fucking Wordle.
