I had a very good day yesterday hanging out with my friend Tamara who flew in from Canada. We drove around, had some breakfast, lunch, and dinner out, the latter two with beer. Finally we ended up at Midway Pub where I watched Atlanta United beat Inter Miami in soccer, while she was fixated on the Edmonton Oilers beating the Dallas Stars in playoff ice hockey.

My goal today is that fewer calories will pass through my lips.

On the penultimate day before I leave for BRAG fun and festivities I will host Tamara, and another of our friends, Diane. The ITP Estate has survived one night with one guest, I hope that a second night with a second guest goes off without a hitch.

Wordle: five, my starter was REACH
Connections: perfect, Yellow > Blue > Purple > Green

    You survived a guest!!! Congratulations!
On the plane to come home for 5 days.
We had hoped to stop by Oxford Sunday (since we will be in Conyers for the weekend) but that I don’t think will happen.

    • Have a good flight. Bummer that you won’t be able to come out for a day, but you have so much on your plate at the moment that it makes sense that you can’t.

We will see how the FOMO holds out 🙂

Would be nice to see you but understandable if we don’t.

    • Jenka says:

The heck are you doing in Conyers for a whole weekend?

      • Barb says:

A friend is having a big southern garden party Saturday.
We are heading out Friday evening (with the camper) & will head home Sunday after breakfast.
There’s a bunch of us going for the weekend, so many of this group has moved out of Atlanta, we gather a couple times a year.

Wordle FAIL! My first 2 guesses produced 1 letter and it went downhill from there.

In the office for the Comcast guy can install an internet connection that we can use for video. Should be a good day.

Got 20 miles on the road bike last night and felt pretty good. Slow but good.

Glad the house guest(s) are working out. I know you were stressing.

Good night of bowling last night, 172-200-191 for a 563 series. Pretty happy about that.
I need to go at lunch today to pre bowl for missing next week. It’s crazy how fast you can bowl 3 games when you are the only one bowling.
Quiet night outside of that, I’ll finish packing today and ramble tonight. Best week of the year starts in 2 days!!

  4. Barb says:

Landed, but there’s a plane in our gate, so we get to wait….

Back in the office after a grueling couple days of travel and funerals. I’m glad to have some normalcy but I am t-i-r-e-d.

To answer your question Steve, on Monday the flight delays were because of nasty weather in the DC area that was wreaking havoc for all the flights north-south along the east coast. They were all delayed or cancelled. Yesterday our flight was delayed an hour and once we got on the plane they explained that there was a mechanical malfunction on the original plane so they switched to a different plane that the original pilots had not been trained on, so they had to call in a whole new crew to fly the plane. Frankly, that is fine with me, please don’t put me on a plane that had a mechanical malfunction.

Where is Diane from? Are you guys going sight-seeing today?

I got to sleep in until 0400am this morning to get to the airport.
People are weird – they stand in line to get their boarding pass (without checking a bag) – um there is a kiosk & you can do it on your phone. (they weren’t old people or anything).

I’m only Silver medallion – got upgraded to 1st class – tried the orange juice & bourbon creme drink I’d heard about – it was an ok breakfast drink. Old plane – tiny screen – but watching a really weird 1.5 hr movie called Downtown Owl. My checked bag got tagged sky priority too – so it was one of the 1st one off the carousal (I don’t think you are supposed to get Sky Priority until you are gold medallion – but I was nice to the agent at the desk when I was dropping my bag maybe?)

    • Jenka says:

I saw that movie on the plane entertainment screen yesterday and Monday and wondered what it was. I’d never heard of it. Was it good?

      • Barb says:

it was weird, interesting enough – I wouldn’t pay for it – but I needed something 1.5 hrs long & it was at the beginning of the alphabet.
Almost watched Barbie again, but decided to look further into the alphabet. 😉

Never hurts to be nice to the gate folks. I was really early for a flight back from Miami and had to pay for the change. He had space in first class, so I ended up there- the change fee was just to get my butt on an earlier flight. Very nice.

      • Jenka says:

Yes, it’s always important to be nice to the gate folks. One time 6 or 7 years ago we were flying to Amsterdam through NY and the first leg to NY got cancelled because of snow. We were so nice to the gate guy that he not only found us a direct flight but he also booked us on a direct flight back. He didn’t have to do that. Afterwards we put in a good word with his manager about how helpful he was.
