I seem to be in a rut this week, spending time puttering around WLF. In addition to that, yesterday had some other activities as well.

As you know, I started my day at a laundromat doing some laundry. I went to the ghetto laundromat because I knew it would take less time than driving to the Waschsalon, it is open 24/7 so I could do laundry at 5:30am, and I found $6 in quarters when cleaning the house the other day.

After returning home from laundry and coffee grounds pickup I did some choring in WLF. I took out some bean plants that were done, planted a few more swiss chard seedlings in that space, and made more attempts at keeping WLF from being a buffet for squirrels. My lunch yesterday consisted of a salad comprised of lettuce, tomatoes, and carrots from WLF.

I made a quick run to Edgewood Retail District yesterday afternoon, and like the laundromat it too was more crowded than I expected it to be. It was 12:30 on a Wednesday, why weren’t these people working? 😏 I was headed to Ross to in hopes of purchasing a few lightweight long-sleeve t-shirts at reasonable prices. My poison ivy is looking a little better, but I still would like to hide it a bit. I was successful at buying three shirts, at reasonable prices, and avoiding buying the new skillet I had my eyes on buying.

After Ross I went to the Publix by East Lake to grab a few of this week’s BOGOs.

Last night I was the cook for Top Chef night. I made a teriyaki stir fry, using more vegetables from WLF. 🎉 I had also brought over some pho noodles, which unfortunately turned way too gloopy, dragging the dish’s flavor down. 😕 The meal was edible but far from the triumphant masterpiece I had hoped to create. Live and learn.

It’s currently 4:30am as I type this. I was supposed to return home from Betsy’s and get more choring done, but instead fell asleep. Whoops. The choring I am about to do is packing, including those new shirts, for a trip to Florida. I am headed down to see my mother. As an added bonus I will also be seeing my brother and sister-in-law. It’s been a few years since we’ve all been together.

Of course you figured out that I will be stopping at Bu-cee’s on my journey. You know I will need coffee by the time I hit Macon / Warner Robbins. 😁

Hope you end the week strong, and that the weather headed this way doesn’t dampen your spirits. And remember, it’s Veterans Day so make no attempts at banking in person, or mailing letters, after all it’s not 1981…

Yesterday I talked the husband out of choring and we drove to Ellijay to Penland’s Apple House. He met a flight attendant whose family owns it so he’s been wanting to check it out. She had given the crew free hand pies and he said they were delicious. I can confirm they are good, even purchasing the no sugar added variety. I also bought apples (of course), dried apples, sweet potatoes and vidalia onion vinaigrette. Oh, and an apple donut. Then we drove on to Fort Mountain State Park and hiked some of the easier trails. (I’ll come back for the other backcountry trails.) Whoa those were some winding narrow roads. 😳 Went back to Ellijay and ate dinner in the quaint downtown area. I’ll definitely be back. Hopefully can buy some wine next time.

Paulie, next week I can attempt to get you out of your rut, if you like. The husband will be studying most of the week so I can probably sneak off for an adventure or two. 😁

Fort Mountain is my favorite state park in Georgia. I trust you found the overlook. On a good day one can be eye-level with hawks. It’s truly a stunning experience. The roads near the park are definitely twisty!

If anyone is looking for a good cause to donate to on veterans day, http://www.heroag.com is working to eliminate veteran suicide by teaching former soldiers to farm. It was started by Mike Reynolds, an Iraq war veteran who has managed to come back from a traumatic brain injury. He’s doing good work.

Yes we went to the Overlook. Yes, there were hawks circling at eye level. I’m not sure I’m brave enough to drive those roads on my own LOL. My first time to Fort Mountain. Will definitely be back.

Curious. Having internal server issues with your blog post.

I thought your surprise might be a trip down to see your mother. You’re being able to see your brother is a bonus for sure.

Dinner and groceries last night. Debbie and I scoped out the barn plumbing project and I have a trip to Lowe’s in my very near future.

My vertigo came back while I was sleeping last night. I guess I rolled over and shook it loose. A great way to start a vacation.

Yesterday went to look at these outdoor deck chairs, thought it’s end of the season, they should be cheap. They were ($25 each, so got 2). Then looked at some other deck furniture, been pondering a couch & loveseat sort of thing, for more comfortable seating (not at the table). Well, they lowered the price as we spoke to them about it….. so we bought. Now I need to find a coffee table of some sort.

Have fun in FL, that’s great you get to see your brother.

Steve, so are we going to the Silver Comet tomorrow morning? If no one else is game I won’t feel bad if you want to bag the mission, or perhaps ride more on our side of town? Just let me know as I need to prep my bike and put my bike rack on the car, etc. I’m down for whatever and could ride either bike.

I’m planning on hashing PineLake Saturday if anyone else is game…

  8. Hello from a barstool in FL. I’m pregaming before having to put up with family obligations. 😂
