I believe it was the ancient poet Supertramp who once penned the phrase “It’s raining again”…

The rain this morning thwarted two potential chores — laundry at the laundromat (who wants to bring dry clothes to the car in the rain?), and WLF choring (I don’t feel like working in muddy conditions today). Oh well, it also gave me the opportunity to sleep in, and then eat a nice breakfast with some coffee. I have also spent my $40 Target gift card on two more pairs of pants, same as the pair that I wore yesterday. Not that I needed more incentive to exercise, stay healthy, and thinner, but spending more money for “skinny” (by my standard) pants does provide some.

Yesterday was a jam packed day of activities. Little did Bonnie know that she was going to get another stroll down my twenty six years of Atlanta living yesterday.

I went with Bonnie to Sandy Springs where she did a short survey and I walked around Walgreens. From there we drove further north and hiked around Island Ford which is part of the National Forest, we even saw a beautiful buck on our hike. When I moved to “Atlanta” I didn’t know any better so I rented an apartment in “Dunwoody” off Roswell Road at Northridge. The park is not far from there, but back then I had no desire to go hiking so I had no idea it was there.

After the hike we ate at Chuy’s, which is located across the street from the office building in which I worked for eleven years. You could literally hear my jaw drop when I saw the construction devastation that has started on the property for High Street Atlanta, which took down all the trees and has taken out most of the building’s parking lot. Sometimes it’s better never to return…

I spared Bonnie a trip inside Perimeter Mall to go to the Apple Store. 😂

After navigating us using every trick up my sleeve, technology tried to get us to take traffic-riddled 400 south 🤦🏻‍♂️ and The Connector 😱, we arrived back in the East Atlanta area by 4:15pm where I promptly hit the sack for a long hard nap, because our day was not complete.

Last night was a return to theatre seeing “Baskerville” at Theatrical Outfit. It was weird going back, first because there is even more construction occurring downtown which altered my driving patterns, and second because of all the COVID changes/precautions. The play itself was fine, but I am not a fan of slapstick humor so it was far from my favorite performance.

Today? Not sure yet. I want to sit around a fire drinking beer tonight. I have kept my wood tarped so that is not a problem, but I need to see if the predicted high winds occur, because if they do I don’t feel comfortable having an open fire. We shall see.

This weekend I shall be skipping the Atlanta hash’s pub crawl. The weather isn’t supposed to be the greatest, and they have chosen to join a muggles pub crawl which these days doesn’t excite me. On Sunday I believe that I will be doing the Wheelhopper hub/pub crawl. It will be cold for sure, and it will be in Kennesaw, so those will limit the amount of libation “fun” I can have.

Hope all is happy in your world. Stay healthy, return to good health if need be, and most of all come back on Monday won’t you? 😁

Apparently Saturday’s hash is now it is a joint hash with Rome (in Rome). 🤷🏼‍♀️

I would’ve gone to the Apple Store!

There are other options for fun tonight if our fire gets thwarted… 😁

Today will be FILLED with choring. I started off watching some true crime with breakfast and coffee however. 😁 I’m watching “I Am A Killer” where the killers are interviewed from prison along with other relevant folks. I’m not condoning their crimes, but I can certainly see how people turn out fucked up after some of the terrible experiences they endured in their childhoods and lives.

    • I heard about Rome, but didn’t know of the AH4 change. Rome seems soooooo far away to do a pub crawl… 🤷🏻‍♂️

I know you would have, but I also knew that we were running out of time (for me to get a pre theatre nap).

      Indeed there are! 🙌🏻

Good luck with your choring. I will talk to you later.

There is a Jack@ss & Aw Burned Out birthday gathering at Righteous Room tonight, if you want beer & hashers is a small space. We can’t go, dinner plans with our friends that are leaving for their winter place in Vero Beach.

David, how are you feeling? Pfizer #2 kicked my ass for 3 days, and my Moderna booster put me down for about 2. I also got my flu shot with my booster but I’ve never had any reaction to those.

    • Yeah, you alive?

I’m “almost right” (as right as I get) after my Pfizer booster on Tuesday. I thought I was 100% but then tapped my shoulder and it was still tender, and I am lacking a bit of energy this morning.

    • David says:

Hey guys, thanks for asking. Moderna #3 caught up with me about 8:30 PM yesterday. Rough night of chills and probably a fever, as well inexplicably having to pee every 2 hours. My body flushing itself out? I’m taking a planned sick day for at least part of today. I did feel well enough for my every other week massage. I always have enough energy to lay around for that. Now I’m back in bed feeing achey as hell. In short this must be what dilly feels like.

Oh Paulie, great minds think alike, my first Atlanta apartment in 1986 was in that same area

Atlanta hash has posted its joining the Rome hash, so it’s a roadtrip tomorrow. We will not be road-tripping, dinner plans Saturday night.
If the weather cooperates, I’ll come do the Wheelhopper. Allan is working.

Yesterday’s PVR/Curion taste test was Cracker Barrel’s hash brown casserole. 4 samples, not very different. And 1 glass of OJ. All were good, and a $60 visa gift card for that. Worth the traffic to get to Chamblee. That area has changed so much since I lived over there in the late 90s.

Been working on cleaning up the office, to make room for me to be able to work there.
Might decide to set up an office in the basement, for Allan. (Or me?) start date is 1/3/22. Sabbatical is almost over.

    • Apparently everywhere in the metro Atlanta area is booming. If I am here when I die it will look absolutely nothing like the area to which I moved in 1995.

I understood everything you “typed”. The brain’s recognition engine is amazing! 😂

      • Steve says:

Sorry, my phone (Debbie’s old s9 has a wonky keyboard on the right side. Takes excess pressure to get the key to take. At least that’s my excuse.

Clearly they value Barb’s opinion much more than yours, Pauline!!

  5. Barb says:

Just got a call from PVR/Curion. Not sure what I’ll be tasting, or why they added a phone screen to it, but I have a Johns Creek appt on 12/17, the same day as a Jackson one. I’ll have to waste the couple hours between tests, maybe I’ll see if Davey has time for a short hike, or maybe I’ll go to the Mall. I haven’t been to Perimeter Mall in many years.

    • Jesus Christ Barb, you are getting picked for so many surveys you can’t afford to go back to work! 😂

      • Barb says:

This is my “don’t feel guilty” money. Pedicure money (seems silly when I’m not wearing sandals) & that sort of thing. Come January I won’t be able to play these games anymore.
I do wish I had some idea what I’ll be tasting. Maybe it will say on the email when I get it. Oh well…..

  6. Barb says:

Trying to get Allan’s new phone set up & turned on this afternoon…… what fun! (Ok, not really)
Just got back from gentle yoga, all the zen will be gone soon.
