Orange And Blue Are Beautiful Together

Today I find myself in a city very different than the one I left fifteen years ago. That city is Gainesville, Florida. Actually, I have been back as near as two years ago, but things seem to be remarkably different from then as well. I was hoping to take a ton of pictures when I got down here, but a late departure and a forecast of 80% rain for my stay may mean that I get skunked.

Who Else Needs A Division Champion T-Shirt?
It’s finally official, my beloved NY Mets have snapped the Braves fourteen-year stranglehold over the National League East. I am sure that most of you are hoping that the Mets with the same amount of playoff success that the Braves have, but I am hoping to see them return to the World Series for the first time since 2000.

Albino Raccoon

At first I thought “hmm, they have an opossum” and then I saw the sign that identified this as an albino raccoon. I still have my doubts.

Dewey Wins!
Hehe, this was the passage that I wrote last night describing my second week in fantasy football…

East Atlanta Deadbeat Dads Now Have As Many Losses As Wins
My DD’s Fantasy Football team put up a good struggle. In fact they were in the lead by almost two points at the end of Sunday. The only problem was that I had no players in Monday night’s game whereas my opponent had one. Dammit!

This morning I woke up and found out that since Pittsburgh got shut out last night my East Atlanta Deadbeat Dads have actually won! Woo Hoo!

CD Pick Of The Week
Another big week of releases are upon us — nineteen titles are listed today by Metacritic.

Of these two stand out, The Zutons and Ben Kweller.

Because I really loved Kweller’s last effort, I am going to see Kweller when he comes to Atlanta and plays the Variety Playhouse, and few of you seem to know who the hell he is, I will happily pick his release of “Ben Kweller” as my CD Pick Of The Week.

And now for some ideas stolen from LiveJournal…
Current Mood – tired
Current Music – none, I am in a hotel room in Gainesville (at least this hotel has WiFi)
Website Of The Day – As an homage to my alma mater I link to the school’s newspaper The Independent Florida Alligator.
Exercise (b)Log – none, because it was raining and I was hungry.

Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]

Enjoy G’ville … are they still playing the same 12 songs on WRUF over and over again? 🙂 The last time I was down there the only familiar bar I could find was the old Copper Monkey … not really a bar either. Bring the beer prices back up to Atlanta with you when you come back.

Thanks. Unfortunately the weather has been complete crap, raining in that Florida Summer way. I just may jump in the car first thing in the morning and head north.

When I landed on Rock 104 my first thought was “huh, they are playing the same music that I used to listen to when I lived here!”

I so wish I could bring the beer prices with me. I just returned from Hops’ happy hour where I paid $2.45 for two 12-ounce beers! Yippee!
