What To Do When The Calendar Is Empty?

I’ve cleared my calendar for no other reason than I think it will do me some good to pack this weekend full of Paulie Time. My head has been completely out of whack this week and I need to figure out what the hell I am doing with my life.

Things I Won’t Be Doing This Weekend
– seeing “Elliott, A Soldier’s Fugue” on the Hertz Stage of the Alliance Theater
– making any commitments to be anywhere with anyone
– trying to figure out why women continually find me “unsuitable”
– answering my phone (most likely)

Things I Will Be Doing This Weekend
– drinking beer (just like every other weekend)
– watching Season 1 of The Office on DVD
– working on this blog
– photography
– grilling out on my bbq

No Ticky, No Ballgame
It didn’t rain as expected, but it didn’t matter because my plans to see the Mets / Braves game fell through last night. Fearing either driving rain or a chilly evening I decided not to go down to the stadium alone. But that’s not to say that I didn’t have a plan “B”…

(Now that I read that Mets’ pitcher Pedro Martinez is done for the remainder of the year due to a torn calf muscle it appears that they might uphold the Braves fine tradition of having an incredible season only to be knocked out in the first round of the playoffs.)

Ain’t That A Kick In The Pants
With no baseball in my immediate future I headed to Decatur to join Meet The Hashers for Team Trivia at Raging Burrito.

It was a lot like the old days of trivia — Meet The Hashers was playing, Jim (the old Taco Mac host) has apparently returned from a 2+ year stint in Charlotte, we were drinking beer (although I had none), and at the end of the first half we were not in first place.

I had a good laugh early on when the first sports question was “In which sport does a player have to either bounce or touch the ball to the ground every eleven yards?” Having just signed up for Australian Rules Football and scanning its rules I knew the answer immediately. Unfortunately, the question wound up being a multiple-choice question so most other teams answered it correctly as well.

Oh, Meet The Hashers went on to win first place. Just like the old days indeed…

This is where I was, I am no longer there. I already miss the four-minute “commute” that I had from the hotel room to the hotel lobby.

The Difference Between “We” And “I”
Oh Billy, how could you be so naive? It was very nice of CBS to include the “love at first sight” moment in its Survivor opening recap last night.

However, I am very disappointed that CBS abandoned its Great Social Experiment so soon into the season. Sure it was a load of crap, but at least it was different.

And now for some ideas stolen from LiveJournal…
Current Mood – looking forward to some “down” time
Current Music – Sirius Satellite Radio, Channel 26 playing The New Pornographers — “Use It”
Website Of The Day – I’m considering a road trip, to where I am uncertain. Regardless of where I go I’ll be sure to check out American Byways: National Scenic Byways to see what I shouldn’t miss.
Exercise (b)Log – hah, this is really sucking

Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]

Don’t forget to “NOT” schedule in Footy practice on Sat. at 2pm. I went last night, had a good albeit confusing time running around in circles (literally, it’s one of the drills) found out my kicking really, really sucks, and that you shouldn’t chase the man with the ball, as he’ll just pass the dang thing… this is going to take some “stratigery” re-organization!

FYI if you fire up the BBQ, I expect a phone call!!! Have beer, will travel.

I’ll be ready to be humbled tomorrow at 2pm.

Not sure if you saw this, but given your Flickr account, thought you might be interested in this:

I think you should use that awesome b/w pic of you “one-finger saluting” the camera. 🙂

Thanks Cory. I have heard about moo, but have not gone there yet. I think that my “salute” would make a superb calling card. 🙂

  5. Amity says:

So, do you think that Becky had the immunity idol in hand, ready to be saved if her name was on the parchment? Does Yul trust her that well (and need her that much) this early in the game to give it up? Interesting that he told her right away about having it.

  6. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

That’s an interesting thought that I hadn’t considered. I don’t know why anyone would trust anyone else on that show. Certainly Yul could flex his immunity idol later on if he needed to.

  7. today, at about 10:53am i decided i had a big crush on jim from the office.

  8. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

Is Jim in season one or am I going to have to skip ahead to season three to find out who he is?

  9. betsy says:

I am one of several women–nay, LEGIONS of women, who have a crush on Jim from the office. Can’t pinpoint the beginning of my infatuation exactly, but I don’t forsee it ending anytime in the future. He can submerge my belongings in jello ANYTIME. (paulie–this comment will make more sense when you watch Season 1. take notes)

  10. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

Is Jim the American equivalent to the British Gareth?

Well by weekend’s end I will be Season 1 compliant. If I like what I see I will probably invest in Season 2.

Notes will be taken. I like to learn. 🙂

  11. Smoove D says:

Getting women to find you suitable in this town is a cinch. All you need is a blue and white propeller logo on the front of your ride.

  12. I never realized that it was that simple Smoove D.

  13. Episode 1 viewed, I now realize that Jim = Tim, how could I be so ignant? :O
