Two Two-Day Work Weeks

“Two two-day work weeks” is how I am looking at this week. It makes working far more palatable for me somehow.

Cre 0-for-2
This weekend’s cooking attempt was a modified Shrimp Creole. The modification I planned to make was to substitute fish (tilapia) for shrimp since I have recently eaten a lot of shrimp.

Once again I wound up with an edible dish which looked nothing like the desired result. The recipe I chose to follow was a little light on directions, so I made a mistake or two along the way. As a result of my errors I veered from the path and added some white wine to the dish. The end result of the dish was more fish stew than creole. There are pictures of the outcome in my camera but I shan’t be uploading them because I think I’ve been mocked for my food photos.

For as much as I complain about my photography it’s shots like this that keep me coming back. Oh, and this shot was taken with my new Tamron f/2.8 28-75mm lens — I think its going to work out fine and I will also enjoy the $1100 I saved by buying it instead of the Nikon lens.

You Scream, I Scream, Holy Shit I Forgot I Bought Ice Cream!
It should come as no surprise to learn that I rarely buy ice cream. While I am far from lactose intolerant (thankfully!) having ice cream readily available is calorically dangerous to me.

I happened to pick up a pint of Ben & Jerry’s (Napoleon Dynamite) while grocery shopping Saturday and put it into the freezer upon returning home.

It wasn’t until last night that I remembered that I had it in the freezer. Let me tell you that there is nothing better than eating ice cream when sitting in a warm, un-airconditioned house.

Happy birthday month to me too! Reminder to both of us, go get emmissions done & pay some ad valorum taxes. I’m happy that I have a 9 year old car.

Hey – I heard that you should eat local honey, (was it locally produced? and did you buy any?) it supposedly really helps with the allergies.

  2. Gentri says:

What, nothing about our death march with food and pool ending today!!!!

  3. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

@Barb: I’ve already gotten my driver’s license renewed (it was due to expire this year) and gone through the emissions / tag renewal process. I’m trying to be more on the ball.

The honey was locally produced (Williamson, GA) and I did purchase a bottle (although I’ve forgotten what type).

@Gentri: I am just brain dead today and suffering from grass and/or dust allergies today. Perhaps all of the beer I drank also washed away some of the memories.

  4. Martha says:

I received a notice in the mail last week and I was able to renew my DL on line. I choose the 10 year option, so I’m set until I’m…oh God, I’ll be really old by then 🙁

I think we were all a little brain dead after yesterday. It was a quite car ride home once we stopped laughing about Wil u Suck.

  5. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

I renewed mine for ten years as well. I can’t imagine living in Georgia in ten years, but then I didn’t imagine still being with my current employer when I started this job ten years ago either.

Poor Wil. I wonder how long it took before the person who did drive showed up to get their car.

  6. Kibo says:

Have you tried the new Cinnamon Buns? It’s to die for. I also love finding forgotten ice cream in the freezer, though it usually doesn’t make it that far..

You are quite right about Brown Paper Tickets someday bringing down the monopoly of Ticketmaster! And when it happens, Ben and Jerry’s will release another new flavor of ice cream, and they will call it Brown Wafer Crickets – chocolate ice cream with cookie/wafer chunks and mint chocolate chips.

  7. Ha! I renewed mine for 10 years too. If I’m not here, I don’t give a fuck – I ain’t getting a new one until it expires. Fuck Big Brother. This is supposed to be the land of the free, yet we have more fucking regulations than Nazi Germany. Fucking government. Time to reinstall Windows is what I think.

They have a fucking farmers market in Piedmont Park? How come nobody texts me this shit?

At least in Nazi Germany, Hitler made the trains run on time. Fuck MARTA, too.

Apparently, Dogfish Head’s Raison de Unpronounceable puts me in a bad mood. I think I’ll start drinking Hookers to improve my outlook.
