A Three-Hour Tour

See what happens when I exercise? I’ve just returned from a bike ride to Stone Mountain which took me three hours to complete. With the exception of being yelled at by some fat-cow woman in a SUV to “Get off the road!” it was a great ride. In Stone Mountain I shooed a small turtle off the road, and as I climbed the outer-loop road I saw a doe and her adorable fawn.

Another Anniversary For Me
Yesterday marked the two-year anniversary of my decree to buy only digital media. Happily I can say that I am doing very well with this task. The only times I’ve faltered have been with photography magazines and books, the occasional software development text, and perhaps two CDs and two video games.

Not bad, eh?

Morning Stone Mountain
Looking at this photo I see that I may have pushed this photo a bit too far. Huh, much like my ride itself.

The Red Rocket Wanted To Get On The Track
The outer-loop road is still closed. The road closure now occurs at the entrance to the old Olympic Cycling Track.

In Ninety-Six Days I’ll Be Done
I’m still loving my iPad. I’ve purchased a book called 97 Things Every Programmer Should Know. I plan to read one of these “things” each day, so in ninety-six days I shall be done. Not bad, eh?

AT&T Just Wants Me To Hate Them
The promise was great — “UNLIMITED data on the iPad for $30 / month.” Not even two months after the launch of the iPad 3G AT&T has gone back on this promise. Yesterday AT&T announced that starting on June 7th they will now offer tiered data plans with the most “generous” of those being $25 per month with a 2GB cap on data transfers.

Seriously, I cannot wait until Apple offers AT&T’s competitors the chance to provide service for their products.

Ahh, the velodrome… such fond memories. I should scan in the picture of me riding on it with the mountain in the backround. Unfortunately, it isn’t a very good picture.

So what bug got you up at 0-dark-30 to ride to the mountain and back? On a Wednesday? Do you need to tell us about your employment status?

  2. Last day of failed iPhone Development sequestering. :/ I return to work tomorrow.

I’m always awake at 0-dark-30. I saw no rain on this morning’s radar and figured that the chances of it happening today would only increase as the day gets hotter.

Four words: Buttermilk Waffle Bread Pudding!!!

I’m glad you’re okay, I get nervous when I don’t hear from you by 9:15. You are off to a good start, 40% of your wheel miles accomplish by the 2nd. I actually made it out for a run last night, the steady rain and thunder around 6:30, you can thank me for that. I knew if I blew off the run it wouldn’t rain…and my garden needed it, so there you have it.

The Red Rocket looks orange, or is it just my monitor?

So with all this new found energy, does it mean you are coming to yoga tonight 🙂

  4. Oooh, that sounds delicious Martha. I just ate lunch — leftover chicken and potato salad that I got from Sanitary on Monday night.

I forgot to mention the rain. I was in Trader Joe’s last night when the skies opened up and dumped buckets of water on us. Pity that I have zero conversational skills with women because the place was loaded with attractive ladies.

I think the orange coloring is a combination of the way the sun was hitting it and my iPhone’s crummy camera. It looks slightly orange on my monitor too.

Yoga tonight? HAHAHA! Actually I’m headed to Smith’s Olde Bar for a concert, that is if I can keep my eyes open now that I’ve ridden.

It does sound good, it just jumped out at me when I checked your website of the day. Guess what I’ll be trying for the next Sunday Run. I had a fake chicken (morning star) sandwich…at least I was able to toast it here at the office.

I may try to get on the bike Sunday morning, since I’ll be at the Silver Comet anyway.

Okay a concert is a vaild reason…I guess we’ll see you next week, lol.

  6. Oh, and I just subscribed to the Working Class Foodies’ video podcast. W00t!

  7. Barb says:

did I miss that you were on vacation all week?
good for you to go for a ride, I’ve been so lazy since we got back from Utah – I keep thinking I should go ride my bike, but haven’t.

I keep thinking my garden needs rain, but then that means the weeds get rain too, and damn, those weeds grow much faster than the veggies, so I’m not all that happy about rain most of the time. I did pick my first green beans last ngiht – they look quite tasty.

Martha – I think I’ll have to meet you Sunday morning – just not at 0-dark-30 please………….

  8. Not all week, my sequester ends tomorrow. Today is the last day of what was supposed to be “Hard Core iPhone Coding In Order To Learn How To Do It” which has turned into “I Didn’t Get Much Done In Six Days.” Full recap will be in the blog tomorrow.
