Four More Beers!

This will be another short blog today as I’m scheduled to be in an interview this morning and I don’t have all that much to say.

I am now only four beers away from achieving the meaningless Ph D status at Taco Mac. During last night’s brief stay, interrupted by my boss’ arrival and convincing argument to go to Outback for dinner (I mentioned he was my boss, right? ;)), I saw some of my favorite waitresses and in a shocking turn of events a whole tableful of hashers (Davy, Chew Chew, Dumbfuck, Bitchfork, and a guy I recognized but can’t recall his hash name).

I spent much of the morning collecting things to take with me to Lake Hartwell (shit, I forgot a camping chair!) for the Black Sheep Hash campout this weekend. Oddly, the one thing I consciously didn’t pack was hashing clothes. I think my hip can take “running” a hash again, but I really don’t feel like trying it this weekend. I have cooking to do. I’ve packed up all of my riding gear and have placed BlackJack atop the Jackmobile. There will be plenty of other things for me to do this weekend.

I feel as if I’ve been going nonstop for the past forty-eight hours. Go to work, go out for some drinks, go home and prepare some grit cakes, go to sleep, wake up and do it all over again. Sure I could’ve eliminated the “go out for some drinking portion”, but come on, it’s what I do.

I’m thinking of signing up for that Silk Sheets bike ride on October 1st. I may have to challenge myself to do the 62-mile route, though I should probably be a little more realistic and sign up for the 40-mile route.

It was pretty cool listening to the end of last week’s This American Life podcast and hearing Ira Glass give a shout out to my friend Carissa. Carissa was a blogger a logn time ago that I discovered randomly, and through good fortune have gotten to meet in person since then. According to Carissa she suggested the outro (that’s the opposite of intro) music for the show. Pretty cool in my NPR-loving view of the world.

The Amazing Race starts again this Sunday. I’m planning on checking out ITP-Reader Stacy’s new midtown digs and watching it on her fancy-pants tv. Stacy, let me know what you’d like for me to bring over for food and/or drink.

My beloved University of Florida Gators play Kentucky this week in football (or as at least one ITP-Reader calls it, “throwball”). I’m somewhat nervous about this game and I am really hoping for a Gator win so that the atmosphere in Gainesville (FL) next exuberant while I am down there recruiting.

Okay, have to run. Comment away and I’ll catch up with you all later. 🙂

The term “throwball” never ceases to make me smile. And, yes, I know which ITP-reader it is!

Have a good time at the campout – probably a wise decision not to hash. Might want to try running on streets or a treadmill first to test the hip out on a more uniform surface than a hash?

Not so much a fancy-smancy TV but at least one a tad bit bigger than the last time I hosted folks. Sheesh…when WAS that? Like, 4 years ago now?! egads, that’s just sick. I’m looking forward to seeing you again! (not that THAT’s been 4 years…though it seems like it sometimes)
And wine is never refused at my home if you wanted to bring some! 🙂

Your title is the Mayor of Roswell’s hash name (in case you didn’t know that)

have fun at the lake, it should be beautiful weather now that the rain has blown thru.

I told Allan we were thinking about riding on Oct. 1st – he gave me his usual whatever you say dear look.
We have to go to Jack@ss’s house that same evening to help him move a hot tub. Well, Allan’s helping with the hot tub, I’m going for the ribs.

  3. Martha says:

I’ve never ran the hash at Hartwell, always had a better time floating on the lake. Sorry I’m going to miss it (and helping you cook) but I do get to spend all day tomorrow, locked in an office interviewing people and eating cheap pizza 🙁

Don’t worry, you’ll find a hash chair once you get there, that garage is full of the ghosts of Hartwell past.

I’m taking today off, even though I’m currently on a conference call, nothing exciting plan, just going to do the stuff I would normally do on Saturday, clean house, hit Kroger, maybe go for a short run…or maybe not, I had to take a nap after this mornings WOD.

I was involved in my first firing yesterday, I hope I don’t have to do that too many time or ever again.

  4. Stacy Fox says:

OMG! Is Jack@ass finally getting the hot tub out of his front yard??

  5. Martha says:

Oh I have a question. Anyone have an idea when the next REI 20% coupon will come out. I think I’m going to use it to buy a 310XT…I sent my 305 in last week but it isn’t showing up as being accepted yet.

  6. Jenka says:

Martha, just be glad you didn’t have to go home, clean the house, make your lunch, and head off to the office after our workout this morning! Plus running group at noon! Thank goodness I surf a desk in between.

  7. Barb says:

Stacy – if enough people show up to help it will get moved. Allan told him he needs at least 8………

  8. Geez, Jackass never offered me ribs for helping out. 🙂

Going to have fun tomorrow, but just found out that I have to come in to work on Sunday — guess all of those Taco Mac nights instead of pulling late hours is coming back to haunt me. So, I’ll leave Hartwell fairly early and come in to work, shower, and code while I have NFL football on the tv at my desk. Stacy, I’ll have prepurchased wine and will be very ready to relax while watching The Amazing Race.

Martha, I don’t know when the next 20% coupon comes out. I’ll keep an ear to the ground (as if I were an indian) and let you know if I hear anything.

  9. Steve says:

Musta been a pretty good weekend, huh? Almost 2 and no blog.
