The Slippery Slope

I’m waaaaay busy agaaaaain.

All I can say about last night is that it amazes me that I could even go to sleep, never mind sleep fairly well, with all of the shit they attach to your body. Had I taken my iPhone in with me I would have snapped a photo — with all of the wires attached I looked like I didn’t realize that DragonCon had ended.

Tonight I will be headed downtown to see the progress at Switchyards, a tech incubator opening next year to which I donated $50 to become a “founding member.”

Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]

Too funny. I think Bob has the right idea.

It seems like a never ending battle with the pool. The booster pump that drives Igor was leaking after we let the water level drop a bit. The problem with a pump that’s designed to pump water and is now pumping air, is heat. The bearing/seal that was leaking managed to get really hot and fused itself to the impeller, so now I have to replace that piece as well. The good news is the filter is still running and keeping the water quite clear!

In the Vuelta time trial yesterday, the leader managed to crash and lose a minute or more- and conditions were perfect. He just managed to come into a narow corner too hot. Imagine the carnage had there been some rain.

After consulting with the chef at JEFDSDR, she has decided to cook a pork shoulder (I believe that was the part of the anatomy) so those in attendance should bring side dishes.

All blog readers are cordially invited…

Steve, I really wish we could make the last installment of the summer slacker series but cub scouts and soccer have us booked all day.
Have you been getting ready for CX? Only 4 weeks away!!

  3. Steve, is the Vuelta being broadcast on tv? I searched yesterday but came up dry.

I will be there on Saturday, although I’ll be partying like it’s 1996 on Friday night so I make no guarantees as to my condition.

Bob, Barb encouraged Steve to get off his bike and run through the woods on Sunday but he never did. 🙂

I looked more like a robot whose had his heart ripped out, a sadly apt metaphor for my life.

I know Bob, but as Paulie just ratted me out, I haven’t been doing anything but riding, and not much of that. Sadly, you guys will have a couple of races under your belt before I have any chance of joining you. And then there is the whole “moving” thing.

This will be the last SSS at the day spa, but hopefully not the last gathering!!

The Vuelta is being broadcast on Eurosport.

And this late breaking news- Jens Voigt will go for the hour record on Sept. 18!!!

We are planning to be there Saturday. I’m trying to get Sharon to join us, and I told the gimpy Jenka to come out, but you know her, she’s so busy & popular, not sure if she can fit us in. Martha hasn’t responded one way or the other.

  7. Martha has been suspiciously silent. If this were “old” Martha I’d assume that the silence would be due to a birthday hangover…

Jenka is super-popular. I tried to be as popular as she is but it wore me out. 😉

  8. Barb says:

Martha got a new phone, maybe she hasn’t figured it out yet? Or, maybe she’s just busy at work. I know, crazy talk.

  9. That’s right! I bet you she’s been inducted into the Amazon Cult now and is no longer allowed to associate with the outside world. 🙂
