More Research Required

After dumping off a truckload of stuff at Goodwill I walked into REI with the mindset of buying a bike rack. I found the one Yakima HoldUp 1.25″ that was in stock and as I wrestled the box (it’s a heavy sonnabitch!) away from the others I noticed that one was set up on display. From the way it looked to me there is a bar that you insert into the hitch that stays permanently. This confused me, so I will consult the video on Yakima’s website today. No sense spending $450 (plus sales tax) if it’s not going to be the thing I really want.

[UPDATE: After watching the video on Yakima’s website it appears that my fear was unfounded. It appears as if you can unlock the base (the lock was missing from the display model) and remove the entire thing from the hitch receiver. While this makes perfect sense in hindsight the display model really confused me and there were no employees around to answer my question.]

While in the shopping center containing both Goodwill and REI I noticed that Genghis Grill has close that location. It’s not surprising to me because I thought the food was so-so and the value wasn’t good, so I stopped going there.

How About Plan “C”?
The original plan was to entertain our office guests by going to the Taco Mac across from the office. However, they had gone there on Tuesday night, so we decided to go to The Fred, er, The Chapter Room, instead. When we arrived we saw that The Chapter Room was closed for a private party until 10pm.

We could have gone to the Taco Mac above The Chapter Room, but decided to give the guests a different outing by walking down to 5 Seasons Brewery. The night was fun, a couple of beers, dinner, and a lot of amusing stories, but when I arrived home around 9:30pm I was pooped.

Might Have To Wait Out Traffic Tonight
If this morning’s awful traffic is any indication of what it’s going to be like tonight (and I shudder to think about tomorrow with the predicted 100% chance of rain) then I will be seeking solace from the gridlock by doing one of three things:

  1. Studying German somewhere quiet.
  2. Drinking beer and eating dinner at an establishment to which I can walk.
  3. Going to the gym.

Were this later in the year “going to the gym” would probably be the first option, but I’m still wary that the place is overrun with January Resolutioners.

Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]

This morning’s traffic brought to you by dead pedestrian on interstate. 🙁 I don’t understand how pedestrians end up walking around willy-nilly on interstates to begin with, but how sad. Hopefully afternoon traffic is not as awful.

Definitely not “to which you can walk” but I’m working at Orpheus tonight and Davey Crochet and Yassir and some other folks and friends of Davey’s are coming out for the beer tasting from 6-8pm. And if you find yourself heading home even later than that without dinner yet, Yassir and I are also planning on Hob Nob when I get off (at about 8:30) and welcome your company. I know it’s a long shot, but thought I’d throw it out there!

  2. Thanks. If I can make either of those I shall. 🙂

And if I make it to Orpheus I have to remember to use my Georgia Ale Trail Passport to get a discount.

Glad you got the bike rack.
We are driving down 1-75, just going under I-10.
    Half way there…..

I forgot to mention yesterday that it was indeed 3rd Wednesday yesterday and though I did not send out a notice, there appeared to be the usual suspects who can read a calendar.

Amazing what a new pair of shoes will do for your running when the old ones were beating your legs up. A nice run along the Beltline.

No more news on the sale of the farm. More packing to look forward to this weekend! Yippee.

Travel safe Barb. Bring back some warm when you come.

  5. Haven’t gotten it yet Barb, probably will today/tomorrow now that I know I can remove it completely when not needed.

    Have fun in Florida.

Georgia Ale Trail Passport whaaaa? Oooh, I’ll have to look into that!

  7. Jenka says:

Nah, all the Resolutioners are long gone. My LAF is totally normal.

  8. Dude, you’re stealing my thunder for tomorrow’s post! 🙂

Now that it’s hot maybe I want to stay?…
