Exchanging Routines

On recent Thursday nights I’ve been meeting with ITP-Reader Stacy for Team Trivia. With a return of the M6 I have a need to do laundry so instead of playing trivia tonight I will be headed to the lavanderia in order to do some clothes washing.

A Musical?
I had no idea going into seeing “The Toxic Avenger” that it was a musical. What can I say, I don’t read reviews ahead of time so that I can be genuinely surprised and I was. The play was entertaining but the water and two beers that I consumed at Wrecking Bar Brewpub prior to walking down to Horizon Theatre came back to haunt me as I had to pee for nearly the entire first half of the play. I’d suggest that you go see “The Toxic Avenger”, but it closes this weekend.

At Wrecking Bar I had one of those conversations that only sitting at a bar could provide. As I drank my first beer a guy sat next to me and we started to talk. Turns out that he used to work at Wrecking Bar but now works as a cook at Porter beer Bar. Though we didn’t converse long we talked about a lot of shit, and he seemed genuinely startled when I told him that one of my current hobbies was learning German. It’s amusing to see people’s reaction to this because I realize how amazingly useless this skill seems, especially for somebody my age.

I Need To Get Back On The Bike
I’m going to force myself to stay off the bike until Saturday morning at earliest in order to give my knee a chance to heal completely, but it’s killing me. I feel fatter already and I keep thinking about all of the riding that I have already scheduled for this summer…

Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]

the world of laundry – that’s what I did last night.

So- the U-Verse DVR died – they are sending us a new box, should arrive tomorrow. So, everything we had recorded is gone.
I didn’t realize how much I really don’t watch commercials, until I had to sit thru them, how annoying!!! So many prescription medicine commercials. On Demand still works, but there are only maybe 5 episodes at the most of the network shows, and of course I can’t remember what we’ve watched &/or not watched. I did watch an episode of Survivor that was going to be gone after last night.

  2. Stacy says:

Barb, I am with you: I so rarely have to watch commercials that when I do, they’re so crazy frustrating. And On Demand, you can’t FF through them either. Ugh.

Wait – is Survivor on right now? I might have to go catch up on that. I’m currently binge watching House of Cards, all the way back in season 1.

Paulie — in case you want to correct it, you have “Perter” Beer Bar up there. 🙂 I knew it was Porter before even hovering over the link, but I was kinda thinking a Perter bar would be fun too, what with everyone being all perky and attractive and stuff.

Survivor is the Brains vs Brawn vs Beauty – no former players, just the regular game. Everyone is sunburned as hell so far this year, I really think they ought to give these people some sunscreen. (will they be able to sue for skin cancer later in life? I bet there is a disclaimer on the release they have to sign)
I think its on episode 4 or so. Its interesting, I’ve gotten a kick out of how all the challenges have evolved over the years.

I’ve never started House of Cards – some day………

After watching a rerun of Big Bang, we sped through the Paris-Nice recording from Tuesday to watch the relegation in the sprint. If you ride me into the fence, don’t be surprised when you get relegated- no, really, you look a little childish throwing your tantrum. The winner (the rider who was fouled) was a gentlemen and said it was “just sprinting” and his opponent didn’t realize he was moving left so strongly. Yeah, right.

And yesterdays stage was a snow-out. I haven’t checked in yet today, but thought the forecast was better.

Hope your re-entry into normal life hasn’t been too hard Barb.

  5. “Perter” is the new “Porter”. 🙂 Thanks for the head’s up.

and Steve – its been tough – but I’m getting there. I’ve been invited to a wine tasting Saturday -(one of the more excellent places we visited in Napa that wasn’t really in my price range) – Do I dare?

  7. Jenka says:

Back when I had a DVR, it was always full to 99%. It stressed me out so much. On the couple of occasions it got wiped out, I always felt relief. That said, I think we’re going to upgrade to a DVR in the near future because we just got a spankin’ new 4K Samsung 55 inch TV. Yay, baseball!

(4K is apparently the new thing in picture quality.)

  8. Steve says:

Oh Jenka, I’m having some TV envy! Size matters.

  9. Barb says:

yes – 4K is all the rage……….. we don’t have one of those yet.
