Christmas continues to get closer, but my level of enthusiasm stays the same. I’m not really surprised, because for me Christmas is just another day.

Last night was fraught with questionable choices, such as choosing Werder Bremen as “my” Bundesliga team. I made one fairly-good choice and that was to ride my trainer for 50 minutes, though I tweaked my left knee a bit doing so.

After riding I tasked myself to make dinner. I am still in “use it up mode” which in this instance was another questionable choice. As I dumped an “additional” ingredient into the soup I was preparing in the Instant Pot I had my doubts about whether or not it should be consumed. In the end I decided food poisoning might put a damper on the rest of my week, so I trashed the entire meal.

Fear not intrepid reader, I had plenty to eat. In the process of making what was supposed to be dinner I was also hard-boiling some eggs. Egg salad, cashews, and snacky snacks for dinner? Sure, why not.

With dinner I planned to drink a new-to-me beer that I bought a six-pack of relatively recently. I put the a can on the counter and popped it open. To my dismay it erupted like a weak volcano, spilling beer onto the counter, which also then spilled onto the floor. 😡 “Perhaps I shook it up accidentally?” I thought. Beer number two was carefully removed from the refrigerator, and opened over the kitchen sink; fool me once… It too started to erupt though I opened this one much slower. I was able to pour the can”s contents into a glass and was rewarded with 20 ounces of head. Beers number three through six were opened over the sink and as each one overflowed its vessel upon opening, was poured down the drain. To the company’s credit, I bitched about this on Untappd and they have reached out to me.

After tweaking my knee again while attempting to put on slippers, yes you read that right, I decided to call it a night and watch “television”. You know, I have watched (the actual) Season 5 of “The Great British Bake Off” three times and the same woman has won each time I have watched it! 😉

  1. I am hoping to get another ride on the trainer this afternoon before heading to Betsy’s for our weekly dinner. If I can I will also have a satisfying amount of dirty workout clothes in the laundry that I will take with me to the Waschsalon tomorrow morning.

I’ve noticed that “smaller” breweries seem to fail when bottling their product more often than the big guys. Heard on NPR this morning the New Belgium has been sold to Kirin of Japan. So much for employee owned.

I got a good 35 minutes in on the trainer last night. Upon leaving the man cave, I noticed Minnie Pearl was under the wash stall roof, which is fairly normal. I went over to pet her (she has been quite stand-offish lately) and she was reasonably receptive. She started to follow me towards the house, but only went so far. I warned Debbie she might make it onto the porch some day soon.

Hopefully a good workout at lunch will free my evening to take care of the animals as Debbie is off to Middle Georgia to spend the night and ride with Phinney’s new “owner” tomorrow.

Chattahooligan holiday bike ride/pub crawl is Thursday night, I decided we ought to dress up & decorate the bikes, so I was thrift store shopping for costumes & then to get battery operated lights to decorate the bikes. I think we may try to pull off the heat miser & snow miser. Allan won’t be able to wear his helmet with the heat miser headwear – he will just have to be careful.

  4. At 10:30am the battery in my fancy-pants new AppleWatch is at 10%? What the fuck is going on in my life? I thought I had put it on the charger correctly last night, perhaps I did not? 🤨

Sounds like someone needs another *ghost hug* today. You can’t feel it, but it’s there! I know what it is, it’s because I’m on vacation! Your life falls apart when I’m more than a mile away! 🤣🤣🤣

Speaking of breweries, I just rolled up to the Sierra Nevada taproom on my way out of Asheville—crikey!!!

The Far Side is back, in a fashion, with an official web site that launched this week. https://www.thefarside.com/ Here’s hoping Calvin and Hobbes takes the hint.
