Happy Friday all.

Last night’s dinner was a melange of things that needed to be used before they went bad, so I whipped up an Instant Pot udon noodle dish using the bag of coleslaw mix, box of baby spinach, yellow bell pepper, and jalapeño pepper. It was pretty good, but not great.

This morning I was once again up at a little after 5am. Why? Because I am old, probably. Regardless, I sprung out of bed, as quickly as one of my age and weight can, to start to day’s epic battle — Oven v. Air Conditioner! That’s right, I figured the only way the air conditioner could have a fighting chance today was to start it cranking while the temperatures weren’t brutal as I raised the temperature in the kitchen by baking a loaf of pumpkin bread. So far the battle is a standoff but I expect that the air conditioner will eventually lose.

On this Friday I have decided to give myself a day off from laundry duty. The decision was easy since I caught up yesterday thanks to doing my wash after working out, and seeing that today is going to be a warm, but humid day. More time for work! 🙄

Today is Mac “Upgrade” Day as I am finally installing Catalina, the operating system (OS) Apple released last year. While I am reticent to install the latest OS on my nearly-six-year-old MacBook Air, I am starting to find more reasons to upgrade in order to get the latest software development tools and languages that come along with the updated OS.

This weekend’s plans include a walk with Betsy tomorrow morning, which unfortunately coincides with the time some people will be out riding the Beltline, and driving all the way up to effing Cartersville to hash with Black Sheep on Sunday.

I talked to my mother briefly last night and was bummed to hear that her bingo didn’t actually happen on Wednesday since there wasn’t enough people present to play. Oh well, at least she got out of the house and was able to interact with others for a little while. Bingo is her version of hashing, or perhaps hashing is my version of bingo…

Have a great weekend, all.
Attempt to remain healthy my friends.

  1. Pumpkin bread experiment, using apple sauce instead of oil and using less sugar, is “interesting” but the loaf is a lot denser than previous attempts.

Greetings from the MLK Natatorium at MLK and 285. Since our absentee ballots requested on March 12 STILL haven’t shown up, I felt I had no choice but to early vote today (the last day of early voting seemed a better choice versus day-of.) While I already completed my presidential primary vote via early voting before they pulled the plug on the election, there are other issues on today’s ballot. We arrived about 7:05am and there were already about 150 people in line. It is what it is, I just wish the dude behind me who doesn’t seem to be able to count six feet wasn’t snorting, sniffing and hacking, so I’ve stepped out of line and look like an asshole standing several feet to the right of the line..

    • Bonnie says:

Not that anyone cares, but whoops this is C.T. Martin Natatorium, not MLK.

    • Good on you, and good luck!

I can’t help but continue to think “Boulevard near the MLK Center”, it’s old location, when I think about the natatorium.

I will wander up to my polling place on Tuesday. Unlike elections past when I opted to vote on the Election Day, I won’t have to figure out how to go into the office late, or leave early. Depending on the weather I’ll probably incorporate voting into my exercise that day.

      • Bonnie says:

I hope it doesn’t rain on Tuesday. I spent 2 hours outside and have just breached the building, where’s there still will be a long wait.

    • Bonnie says:

      3 hours—done! Fulton County can #%^*+={%}^%+!!!

FYI, Catalina uses (significantly) more resources and is slow on my iMac ( “late 2013” 2.7 GHz Core i5, 8GB).

    I wish I had not upgraded…

    • Yeah, if not for the need to use newer versions of Xcode and Swift I wouldn’t have. I may make my birthday gift to myself be a new MacBook Pro.

    • Install is done, now doing the humongous download of Xcode.

    • Ugh, sometimes I lament creating an Apple (née iTunes) ID before an email address was required. I think that I just was handed a third Apple ID that I am going to have to manage. 🤦🏻‍♂️ Or, Apple just replaced the ID I had for twenty years with the email address I halfmindedly provided? 🤷🏻‍♂️

    • Yep, Apple REPLACED my old non-email Apple ID with the email address I provided. While it’s not the email address I would have preferred to use for this purpose at least it’s one associated with me!

I bet you that there is also no easy way to change this.

I don’t think I mentioned Debbie and I voted Tuesday in Greenville. In and out in 15 minutes. Yeah Pete!!

Last nights ride was OK, except for the flat tire. As I left, i thought about pumping the rear up, but said “Nah, it will be OK”. So much for that idea. I was over halfway done, but was all off road to get home and the wheel wasn’t quite straight in the dropouts, so shifting was a little sketchy. I got home, but not without some language.

Preg check today!! Waiting on the vet.

  5. Well this storm cell that is blowing through East Atlanta now makes me happier that I didn’t hang laundry out to dry today!

Pregnancy check on Daisy is CONFIRMED!! We’re going to be grandparents! And ladies, be glad you aren’t ultrasounded the same way as horses!!
