I earn money so that I can spend it, right? I only wish that I could spend it on enjoyable ventures such as travel, new computer hardware, and beer. Instead, I will be buying a new windshield for the M6 thanks to the act of “God” that rained a rock upon it in a gravel parking lot last November, getting soffit repairs done, having my deck pressure-washed and painted, and of course the monstrous cost of repairing/renovating plumbing/kitchen/bathrooms; the A/C is going to have to wait.

I am using an old-school method of cooling the house this morning — opening window and doors and placing fans in them to move the cooler air into the warmer house.

This morning I discovered another chore to add to my list. The second light bulb in my motion-detection floodlight for the carport finally burned out. The fixture is one that I installed almost twenty years ago. Given that it is located near the rotting soffit I wonder if it would be prudent to install a new one along with the soffit repair.

Today will be another busy day in my stay-at-home life to which I have grown accustom. I am considering going to the hash happy hour tonight which is being held at Elder Tree Public House in East Atlanta Village. Of course I’d like to support the new hasher ownership, but there is that little matter of COVID-19 that so many people have come to disregard…

Breaking recent tradition, Betsy and I will not be walking tomorrow morning, each of us will be performing our own manual house/yard labor instead. I have no idea what I will get up to tomorrow afternoon and night.

Sunday is a wild card. Unfortunately the Hog Mountain hash is in Flowery Branch. Considering I drove to Cartersville last Sunday I am not looking to repeat such a long journey again. I will just have to wait and see.

Hope you are staying healthy friends.

Too much to comment on here Paulie… I will just see you this weekend 😁.

I may try to participate in my first Wheelhopper this weekend since it’s close to home, but since my hashing buddy’s MTB is “in the shop” I would need to seek out some other “slow folks” and see if they are planning to attend. I don’t think I want to go it alone…

  2. What’s funny is that I keep asking myself, “If I live X more years, is this the house in which I want to live?” inserting 5, 10, 20 in for X. It’s a funny question given that I have somehow lived in this house for 21 years already.

These past three months have certainly altered my idea of what I want out of my remaining years. I’m not trying to be morbid, but rather realistic.

  3. It’s not much but I did get a $23 refund from Fox Sports. This is the amount remaining on my annual subscription when they disband Fox Soccer Match Pass at the end of the month.

Houses cost money- its just a fact of life.
I got Allan a new windshield a month or 2 ago- it was pretty pricy as well -but less than the deductible. (the crack drove me crazy when I drove his truck, he was used to it)
I don’t think I will Wheelhop Sunday – I might go to Breaststroke’s pool if I can finagle an invite. (Allan is working). I haven’t been feeling 100% – so not sure I want to ride in the heat.

Not sure the status of the derailleur – bike repairs are at an all time high, so finding parts is a little more challenging.

    • Oh, I understand, and have been putting off the inevitable for years.

The M6’s crack continues to run so it seems like a good idea to get it replaced sooner than later. I just wasn’t expecting it to cost nearly $400.

I figured that it would take time to get the part in because it’s an old bike and I have heard that bike (as well as auto) repair are at dramatic highs. In the case of bicycles I’ve heard many shops can’t keep up with the demand for purchases, at least for now.

      Hope you feel better soon.

  5. Given that the rest of the state is “returning to normal” quickly I assume that I will be required to return to office commuting in July. Poop. I have so much more that I want to accomplish… Where have the three months gone?

Who is the hasher that now owns the Elder Tree?

For some reason I had trouble accessing the website from my iPad. I haven’t checked now that I’m on Via my phone but maybe it’s a problem with Safari.

Got Debbie on the road by 9:15 with her to fox hunting riding Pals to head to Aiken South Carolina for a girls weekend.

I got 26 miles on the road bike yesterday fill my exercise today will involve a large black motorcycle. I have yet to decide which direction it might take me but lunch will be involved.

  8. At my desk, just now eating a late-for-me lunch. I did a trainer session during my normal lunch hour and started to bonk toward the end.
