Don’t have much to say today. Unfortunately I’m struggling. My leg is slowly getting better, but I am dealing with other (new and unusual) issues that are getting me down. By the time 2020 is over I may have encountered every malady except COVID. I have no idea at what time I fell asleep last night, but it was early(ish) and I had a fitful night of sleep. It’s a good thing that I didn’t need to get anything done early this morning because it’s already 7:20am as I type this.

Tonight marks the final German class of this quarter; where have the ten weeks gone? In non-COVID Days I would have to choose between German class and a SLUT hash. No hash this month, not that my leg would allow “running” anyway.

Hope all is going better in your world.

TdF news from yesterday. Apparently, the yellow jersey wearer took a bottle in the last 20k and was pipped 20 seconds and 200CHF (swiss francs), knocking him out of the yellow jersey. His DS blamed the “mechanic” who passed up the bottle, but I agree with those that say the mechanic should have never been there, or you hand it up to a rider who isn’t worried about GC. Poor coaching/management. Todays stage is already the second mountaintop finish. Expect more riders not to make the time cut.

I managed to almost complete the repair on the bush hog yesterday. I lost a bolt last week, which made a metal strap drag and bend. A little help from a torch and a sledge hammer and It’s straight again. Had I remembered I needed 2 bolts instead of just one during my trip to the hardware store, the job would be done.

Happy 4 day weekend to me!

    -FP

    • I’ve been following the TdF, but I missed that story.

Enjoy your four day weekend, I hope that I can do something other than “heal” during my three day one.

wasn’t Kevin – was it? hahahaha.
Not that the Israeli team is in yellow.

nothing exciting in our world either…… trying to figure out what to do this weekend. A friend mentioned bowling maybe Friday night – we will see.
Might go Ellijay area wine tasting on Sunday – maybe.
Maybe find a pool somewhere one day. who knows.

and -I have Paulie’s TMPS light on the dash beat today.
last night 5 different lights came on, on my dash.
Check Engine, Oil Temp (car was cold??),ABS, and 2 others.
I guess I’m going to Subaru at lunch time………. (and Jason’s Deli next door for lunch)

    • Yikes! Sorry to hear that Barb. I hope that everything works out for you.

With Labor a day being Monday I realized that tomorrow marks the 10 year “anniversary” of the Jackmobile’s transmission crapping out in Colorado.

      • Steve says:

Jackpot!! I still have my same check engine light on. I stop and have the guys at the auto parts read the code every so often, just to make sure it isn’t something different. At almost 275k miles, I’m not worried.

  3. I’m trying to read an article about the slow return of Global Entry program processing. I know that my membership expires soon, either this year or next, and renewing it had been on my to do list for a long time. I guess I should have done so prior to COVID.

    • Steve says:

I wonder if they might give you some credit during this time of reduced travel? I’ve wondered about ours as well. Not GE, but the other one which escapes me.

    • ITP Lurker says:

I’m not clear why you’d want to bother, given that our passports are worthless? I’m not judging, I’m just curious (and fucking frustrated that our fearless leader has turned *us* into a shithole country).

      • 100% agree, but I am hoping to be able to travel abroad again next year? If so, I would love to not have to wait in long lines at Customs to get back into the country.

        • ITP Lurker says:

I guess it depends which way the election goes. If Trump wins again, I can’t see anyone opening their doors to us. I’d gladly stand in a long customs line at this point if a chance to travel arose.

  4. Barb says:

    Well, it’s a transmission code. (Or 2)
Hopefully it’s under warranty, but we all know it’s gonna cost me some money.
Getting a loaner. They offered the Ascent, but that’s too big. I’ll get the Forrester again. No Outback’s available. Bummer, since that’s what I think I’ll buy someday

    • Steve says:

Hmmm.. that doesn’t sound good but I hope the warranty has it.

      • barb says:

yep- IM afraid on this one.
but -the brand new Forrester will be fun to drive over the weekend. Unless it isn’t really anything big, then maybe I’ll get my car back tomorrow.

  5. Well that’s a new one, according to my iPhone the call which I just declined was from Russia!
