As I sit in my den listening to the overnight heavy rains come to an end I am lamenting the fact that I didn’t accomplish more in the garden yesterday, and that I left a leaf bag outside which is almost surely useless now. I have an excuse of course, a rehabbing knee that limits my maneuverability. I am trying to be “good”, but it’s hard not to try to take advantage of a sunny, mid-60s day in December. My current antibiotic prescription is also limiting my fun, as I am also trying to do the “right” thing by not consuming alcohol while taking them. I am also preparing myself for a higher scale reading tomorrow.

My weekend was spent mostly at home, gathering around a fire on Friday night, and puttering on Saturday and Sunday.

As you can well imagine I watched a lot of videos this weekend though thankfully I avoided watching my sports teams, all of whom lost this weekend. I am still trying to appreciate “Schitts Creek”, have exhausted YouTube, rewatched some “Great British Bake Off” holiday one-offs, and have watched the first three episodes of “The Queen’s Gambit”. I really wish that I had spent more time, any really, learning new coding skills, reading, or garden planning. Oh well, I can’t roll back time.

Given that Christmas is in eleven days (!) I assume that this week I will ramp up my holiday viewing of Rankin Bass shows, “Elf”, “A Christmas Story”, and so on; maybe I will try to get into the spirit by listening to Christmas music exclusively.

This is a friendly reminder that COVID hasn’t gone away — a buddy of mine tested positive on Friday. He’s young and in good health, so I expect he’ll be fine, but still.

Hope that you had a fun weekend and that you are remaining healthy.

My initial fence run (along the back property line is run. Still have one gap to close and more clips to add to the T posts. From that line towards to the barn is marked and will be next. I will finally get out of the trees (!!!) and that should make things faster.

After getting home from the eye doctor Friday, I thought I’d take my scooter with the new windshield installed, out for a ride. All dressed up and the damn thing wouldn’t start. Battery is toast and one should arrive by Friday.

We are about at the same point as you on the Queens Gambit. Makes me want to get out my chess set. Not that I was ever any good…

Keep doing what the doctor ordered. And stop beating yourself up about not being productive. You’re broken.

The husband’s 19 days off streak was interrupted by him working for 36 hours this weekend so I had a little much needed time to myself. On my schedule Saturday was dropping off toys for charity at Eventide’s holiday event so I picked up Paulie and got him out of the house for a couple hours and he watched me drink beer. Free beer, as donating toys got you free beer. I spent $5 to spin a wheel with most winnings above the $5 mark, but of course I won a koozie.

The Wheelhopper Holiday “Hub” Crawl was fun! I met a couple new peeps. And it’s always nice when the start is across the street from my neighborhood :).

    • I drank a lovely Coke. Like Bonnie I should have gambled $5 with Eventide’s wheel of prizes, but I was feeling intensely cheap (or uninspired since I wasn’t drinking and am broken).

    This just in:
“The Atlanta Braves have agreed to change its name to the ‘Atlanta Martin Luther King, Jr’s.’ The Braves will use ‘The MLKs’ as the team nickname and ‘We shall overcome…one day!” as their crowd chant, finally retiring the egregious ‘Tomahawk Chop’.

The Braves are also in discussions with the City of Atlanta to purchase Oakland Cemetery, where the Braves propose to build a $100 Million state of the art ballpark on the 17 acres in-town site.

‘The location is perfect, right downtown and is already named for us and ends right at the proposed ballpark site’ said Braves General Manager Alex Anthopoulos.

Chipper Jones (HOA) was not available for comment, but Henry Aaron (HOA) was overheard to say ‘What?! Was the ‘Hammering Hanks’ not available?!’ ”
