With the exception of the category of my life that supplies my income, yesterday was a really good day — I took a carload of recycling to CHaRM, made a trip to Aldi, and did a lot of yard work.

Once I clocked out I suited up and started out in the back yard. I managed to finish “Potato Trench #1” and move its red clay over to the FGP (which may be finished before the end of the month!). Finishing PT#1 involved digging a lot of dry red clay and struggling to pull out roots.

I then decided to take advantage of the City of Atlanta’s inability to pick up yard waste by filling the rest of the yard waste bag I started with the debris from PT#1 with English ivy and branches taken from the patch of land that runs along the ITP Estate’s driveway. I then filled the bag sitting curbside which still had more capacity. Exhausted and losing light, I finally had to quit doing yard work to return inside to shower and eat dinner.

Dinner was an oddly pleasing egg salad sandwich on toast, made with the two eggs which “exploded” in the Instant Pot when I hard boiled them yesterday.

I was in bed and asleep by 9pm. Of course this meant that I was awake again at midnight. I took advantage of this by washing dirty dishes before falling back asleep (re)watching the potato episode of Grow, Cook, Eat on Amazon Prime Video.

Today?:
No Lowe’s? 🤯 (lost the motivation while lying in bed)
Baking a breakfast casserole. 😁 (had time since I didn’t go to Lowe’s)
Work. 😒 (because I must)
Yard work? 🤷🏻‍♂️ (if I have time)
Virtual Top Chef 🎉 (maybe even starting last year’s series since it’s now on Hulu?)
Laundry? 🙅🏻‍♂️ (I should but probably won’t)

Have a happy and healthy Hump Day.

Yesterday I convinced the husband to give gravel riding a try so we rode on the Beltline Southside Trail. After 10 miles he threw in the towel and voted a big “no”. Too bad, since he doesn’t want to ride on roads either. Today’s adventure is to hit one (or two) Georgia State Parks for hiking.

I was just about to celebrate your effort when I read his conclusion. ☹️
Looks like you’ll have to rely on the rest of us to be biking buddies. 😁

      Happy hiking!

Man, he is truly no fun. 😟 But hey, I can’t even get my spouse to go for a walk with me in the park that faces our house. That’s why my bike rides get ever longer, I clocked 44 miles last Sunday. Regardless, I feel your pain.

      • Bonnie says:

I get it. A bumpy, skiddy bike ride is a specific taste, and the way people drive he’s probably smart to want to stay off the streets… 🤷🏼‍♀️

      • I’d like to say he’s completely wrong about street riding, but considering four of my five worst injuries have occurred riding bikes on Atlanta streets, I cannot. Two were caused by cars, one by a gaping pothole, and the final by rider error.

Paulie, I forgot to *fist bump* you for yesterday’s weight loss! I think I’ve been slacking on that lately…

    Work.
    Dentist.
Stop by the Games field and plan.
Attempt to ride a tough interval workout prior to Games call. FAIL, When I couldn’t make it through the third interval, I gave up and just rode. Don’t know if I’ve gone up a step in resistance, or something else is zapping my power.

Games still moving forward. A report for a Games in Jacksonville 2 weekends ago said crowds were big. (that scares the piss out of me). We’re thinking it will be better by October- more vaccine and lots of people ready to get out. We hope.

  4. I’ve been thinking about lunch for about thirty minutes…

Sometimes I think The Onion has punked me: Man Says ‘Fuck It,’ Eats Lunch At 10:58 A.M.. The man’s last name is even “Dunedin”! 😂😂🤣

    • Steve says:

Hahahahaha… I just thought about lunch myself!

You get up so early, so might as well. I don’t eat breakfast until 8.

  5. Got a couple of quick outdoor chores done on my early lunch break. 😉

  6. Netflix subscription went up $1/month last month.
Disney+ subscription going up $1/month starting next month.

Doesn’t sound like much, but now these two services cost me an additional $24/year.

    Harumph!

Of the two Netflix would be the first to be canceled.

    • Steve says:

One of my podcasts (“Make Me Smart”) commented last week with all the original makers (Paramount, Disney…) making their own streaming service, Netflix will be left without any programming except their own.

I just saw our satellite bill- $180!! FFS! I think we’re paying for some special sports channels that don’t show bike racing anymore, so that might have to change.

Kemp lowered the vaccine availability threshold to 55+ today. I have my shot lined up for next Friday at 8:45 at my doctor’s office. Most pharmacies in Atlanta don’t see to have it available, but it is available rurally: https://www.vaccinespotter.org/GA/
