Mom 6, Me 0

That was the final “score” at bingo. I’m glad she won a lot, because she paid for dinner! Of course because her diet is even more limited than mine, it means that we rarely eat at a place that I want to eat. Last night we went to Applebee’s, which was you know, Applebee’s. Because I was craving a vegetarian day I had an Impossible cheeseburger, which was decent, and a Sam Adams lager, which was less so. Upon leaving I saw that there was a Cigar City Brewing tap, but I didn’t stop to see what I missed.

My mother’s birthday is today. She’s at dialysis this morning (shit, I hope I never…), and meanwhile I am out running errands. For her birthday tonight we will go to an aunt’s house for dinner and card playing.

That’s all I have today. Hope you are happy and healthy.

  1. And even though I am not ITP I am still trying to set up money making opportunities. However, in unfortunately failed Mexican Foods at Jackson. RATS! No, that’s not what was to be tasted, unless that’s a new menu item at Moe’s.

  2. Bonnie says:

    Happy birthday to Paulie’s mother!

I failed to get into the Mexican food study also. However, I start a two-day study today about paper products. I’m bringing the husband today and we’re going to hike somewhere “up there” afterward.

Yesterday I tried the new food hall in East Atlanta, Southern Feed Store. I had a dessert waffle. Yummy.

  3. I solved today’s ad-tracker-laden Wordle in three guesses!

  4. Figured I would be served meat for dinner, I went ahead and ordered a breakfast with bacon. Damn that shit is tasty! And maybe my knee needs meat to heal? Lol

  5. Bob says:

Applebee’s uses the Cheers theme song “where everybody knows your name” in their commercials. If I walk in to an Applebee’s and everybody knows my name something has gone very wrong in my life 🙂

    Happy birthday to your Mother!

Applebee’s also used the country song Fancy Like in their advertising. It’s a stupid song, but its catchy. I wonder if Travis knows the dance?
And everytime I see Applebee’s -I think Fancy like bourbon steak & an Oreo shake.
My mom loves the Asian chicken salad, so we go there occasionally when I’m at home,.

      Happy Birthday Paulie’s mom!!!

  6. Steve says:

Bob, they are always trying to get that local repeat business ’cause that’s where the money is. A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, there was a bar I could walk into and my beer would be drawn in MY mug before I got all the way to the bar. THAT is a “neighborhood” bar.

Picked up the bike from the Trek dealer. A new bottom bracket and some cable housings and $130 lighter. Support your LBS and glad to do it- and no offence meant to the 2nd best mechanic in the Grove family.

Rolled into the office at almost 70 the whole way. Sadly, I don’t think it will stay that way much longer, but who knows.

A very happy birthday to your mother!

Steve – glad you got the bike fixed. Allan of course would have done it, but his schedule is always changing.

Could always call TJ…… they are always home 😉

  7. Shopped at a small beer store I’d never been into, lo and behold I bough a four pack of beer from Cigar City that I’ve never seen. It’s branded with Tampa Bay Lightning (ice hockey) so probably not widely distributed.

  8. Continue to try and write my own Wordle app. Continue to fail. I am so poorly qualified that I doubt anyone would hire me these days…

  9. Barb says:

I attempted to give blood last night, they just couldn’t find my vein correctly – after about 5-10 minutes of trying to get the blood to flow & 3 techs trying, they gave up. You’d think when all they do every day is stick people, they’d be better at it. Maybe I have weird veins. I wonder if I’ll get my $5 or $10 amazon gift.

    • Steve says:

Thy always had issues getting me stuck. Those knitting needles they use are too big for my veins. After having a couple bad experiences, I’ve given up donating.

      • Barb says:

1st time in the fall – no problem. 2nd time – I was a “slow bleeder” which means the needle was up against something in my vein, but it worked. This time – they gave up.
I may give them 1 more shot……… and tell them all my issues so maybe they give me the best “sticker”.

  10. Goddammit, I ate too much food for lunch, and know I will get too much served to me at dinner. *facepalm*

    • Barb says:

What did you have for lunch? What chain? Olive Garden? Red Lobster?

      • No chain today, a local that my mother likes, as do I. We normally eat breakfast there, but we went for lunch today. I had a huge fried chicken sandwich with fries. I *thought* I was ordering responsibly, but I guess that’s impossible these days.
