This being April 1st I want to laugh, but can’t. I’m frustrated, mainly by how much it costs to live. The latest interruption to my plan to never work again is the auto insurance renewal notification that landed in my inbox this morning. I completely understand how State Farm is able to afford the palace they have built for themselves in Dunwoody based on what I am getting charged for a service I am actively never trying to use.

Yesterday was a busy(ish) day for me, spent mostly in the Dunwoody area. I did a double survey session, and then had a lovely Tasty China dinner on the Deckmahal at Barb’s and Allan’s. Since I was paid to eat shrimp earlier in the day I feasted on all the meats. I also picked up some flower bulbs, whose name escapes me. Irises? Shoot, I should have taken some t-posts too. Barb, we’ll have to have another gathering when you return from vacation.

I received an email from Netflix with the title Here’s what’s leaving Netflix soon…. The body of the email should have included my name, for as of today I am no longer a subscriber.

I tried to spend money at Apple yesterday, but COVID thinking made it difficult. I went into the Apple Store to buy a HomePod Mini for my kitchen. I like music, and have on occasion needed an answer from Siri while cooking. Earlier in the day I saw that the Perimeter Mall Apple Store had some in stock, so before my second survey I wandered in, this was a little after 2pm. I was going to get a dark blue one, but didn’t like its appearance, so settled on another black, um, space gray, one. I hailed an employee as instructed by the Apple Store app and asked for her assistance. After much fumbling she told me that I had to order it online, and then schedule a pickup, for which the first available window was 4:15pm that day. I was holding the fucking thing in my hand and there was no way to buy it immediately? Was this an early April Fools joke? It was not. So I left the store empty handed.

I have a bunch of chores to tackle today.

Tomorrow I will be “running” a 5k up in Suwannee. Stop laughing, it’s not an April Fools joke! The race and after party are at Monkey Wrench Brewing, otherwise I’d never do such a silly thing.

On Sunday I will be getting my ass on my bike saddle, riding on the Silver Comet, as I “train” for Spring Tune Up. Wheels on the ground at 10am from the Florence Road parking lot if you have any interest in joining.

Hope that you have a great weekend, no fooling.

I wish it were an April Fools joke but today I suffered my first Wordle failure; my starter was TRAIL

  1. Also bummed to see that as of April 1, iOS emoji are still broken in WordPress.

  2. David says:

I had a chance to do a bit of product tasting myself! https://www.accountingweb.com/technology/excel/neuro-energizer-drink-adds-pep-to-excel-tasks

Wordle in 5, although I had 4 letters in the right place on my third guess. 46 seconds NYT Mini

  3. Wow, after posting I went back to sleep and slept until 8am! Eating a (tempeh) bacon sandwich for breakfast.

  4. Bob says:

That Apple store story is the dumbest thing I have heard in a long time. I would have walked out too, and may have thrown the speaker across the store as well. Just crazy

  5. I normally don’t share corporate April Fools jokes, but our own Wahoo Fitness (another company who once passed on employing yours truly) made one to which hashers can relate: Jim Walmsley Goes After the Beer Mile Championship

  6. Bonnie says:

I still can’t believe I had to miss the Tasty China gathering. At least Paulie talked about meat and not tasty vegetarian dishes. 🙂 I ate a protein bar for dinner. While I admittedly feel a little better today, I sure don’t sound it. Yikes. I still plan to rest most of the day, however I do need to go to my friend’s house that I am housesitting and do my short gig there. I guess I’ll check the pollen count and hopefully walk. Paulie, I can’t believe you didn’t take their T-posts!

  7. Barb says:

Dinner was very good, or shall I say, TASTY, but Paulie got some weird mushrooms.

I can’t believe we didn’t even think about those posts.
You will have to come to Marietta again.
Irises – maybe really called Bearded Irises. If & when they bloom, it will be a white flower. They only bloom 1 time a year, and the stem will be much taller than the green leaves.

Sunday – maybe we will join the bike ride. Maybe.

  8. Steve says:

Lovely to see everyone. Those mushrooms were a little weird, but still tasty- I mean, they were fried after all.

Traffic was F’d on the way home. Not that we go 20 west, but 3 lanes were closed at Fulton Industrial, but 285 was shut at Old National. We saw the overhead sign and turned on Waze, who lead us off at Washington Rd, over to Buffington Rd and back on 85 via SFP. An extra 10 minutes.

And I completely forgot to wish Barb and Allan a happy anniversary. I know we’re not quite there, but that was kinda the point of the TC gathering, at least in my head.

How far you riding on Sunday?

    -FP

    • I think it’s dealer’s choice Sunday. I assume I will go at least twenty? So far there are three riders — Bonnie, Tammy (In My Behind), and myself — and we’ve not discussed length.

  9. Bonnie it will come as no surprise that I ordered the deep fried king oyster mushrooms. They were, to be polite, though to eat.
