It was almost a perfect weekend.

On Friday evening Bonnie and I managed to get into the same survey session at Jackson Associates for the first time. The session is a week from Wednesday at 10am.

On Saturday morning I drove up to Suwannee with Bonnie to do the Monkey Wrench Brewing 5K. That’s right, I ran a 5K, well maybe a 4.9K as I walked a little of it. I finished 42/162, which is great considering I don’t run any longer, but not great enough to warrant a medal for my age group. In fact, of the hashers who ran on Saturday I was the only one not to finish within the top three in his/her age group! The hasher gang stayed at Monkey Wrench drinking the two beers which came with our race registration, as well as one more.

On the way home a group of us stopped for beer at a new-to-us brewery called Blackbird Farm Brewery in Lilburn. I expected the brewery to be pastoral, but instead it was in an old restaurant on Lawrenceville Hwy. The beer was good and laughter was had.

I passed out hard on the futon upon returning home. I awoke at 11:30pm and shuffled into my bed for the rest of the night.

Yesterday Bonnie drove us to the Silver Comet for a bike ride. Bonnie, Tammy, and I rode well, covering thirty windy miles. After our ride we sat in the cool breeze and rewarded ourselves with a couple of beers.

Last night my evening was crap, I received some bad news felt distraught for the first time in years. And, I couldn’t even drink after 4:30pm because tonight I have session four of my memory test survey which doesn’t allow me to drink alcohol for twenty-four hours, and caffeine for eighteen hours before, the session. So, no coffee for me this morning either. Ugh. I sat around, and ate some General Wee’s Chicken and ice cream for dinner. Since I was feeling low, I decided to watch the final two episodes of “Modern Family”; I’ve finished watching all ten seasons.

I don’t know what I will get into today, since I didn’t get a whole lot of sleep last night.

My survey session tonight will keep me from attending the Moonlite hash. This is probably a good thing since I really need to give my legs a rest day.

Hope your weekend was a good one and that you are remaining healthy.

I solved today’s Wordle on my last attempt; my starter today was TEARS

  1. I’ll not go into details, but the bad news is all about me.

Today we make our annual trek to H&R Block to do our taxes. No, we don’t really need them to do our taxes, I would happily do them. I was almost an accountant after all…

I will not be going to Moonlight either. I anticipate this week will mostly be a week of chores as the husband is home until Thursday evening. That’s pretty much all I’ve got.

Condolences on your bad news. I hope you find a way to make peace with it.

I get an x-ray today to determine the state of my arm. I’m taking a lot less ibuprofen so that’s at least a sign of progress. Hernia surgery next Friday. At least that one will be “free” for me since my arm surgery blew through my deductible.

Wordle in 4. I shook up LEAST and started with STALE instead. NYT Mini in 25 seconds.

I started taking ADHD meds on Saturday. No side effects. A friend started on them 2 years ago and they’ve changed his life. He and I have a lot of similar traits, so now I’m getting in on that action. I’m sick of only being effective at the 11th hour. I don’t have the energy for it any more.

I don’t remember Friday- I think a scooter ride was involved. Ahh yes, I stopped at Tower House Brewery in Gay. As it was a beautiful evening, I sat outside and enjoyed a nice stout while watching folks play a giant jenga game. I could see that as being a midpoint for a bike ride from the house and back. Stay tuned.

Saturday found me on top of our trailers at the park fixing roof leaks. It took much longer than expected as I wanted to do it right and not just slap a patch on the other 27 patches. This required us to be on our knees scraping off the old sealant around the skylights (the area of the leaks), then add sealant and re-secure. By the time I got home, my glutes were on fire! That is a position I’m not used to being in. I still feel it this morning.

I had hoped for a Duke win Saturday- hoping Coach K would have gone out With a Hollywood ending, but it was not to be.

Sunday’s bike ride wasn’t happening (see above) but we did get out for a walk- we were supposed to follow some hunting basset hounds, but their van had a flat and they cancelled.

Wordle in 5, should have been 4. Tried the 6 letter wordle yesterday as I’m always coming up with 6 letter answers in the 5 letter version, but when I did it, I was coming up with 7 letter answers!! In 4.

weekend was busy – but not really – if you know what I mean.
Friday night finally tried birria tacos – they are a little different. Its a stew type of beef, in a flour tortilla (& of course cheese) but them basically deep fried. It was tasty, but too greasy.

Saturday the main objective was to get a pedicure, but along the way ran errands with Annette – did a little thrift store shopping, found a fabulous red jumpsuit (that I would never wear, but at $4 – I’ll find someone to gift it to), got a 4 mile walk in around town center mall & then finally a pedicure. Found out Ramaho’s cats are super picky eaters, so the cat food the ex-husband bought won’t work, so had to go to the store to get them different food. Today’s my last feeding day, as I”m off to Spain Tuesday evening!

Sunday we did yard work – found a good use for KN95 masks – helped with not inhaling all the pollen, but didn’t protect my eyes -they are ICTHY still.

Tonight we will go to dinner with the inlaws to celebrate Allan’s birthday, our anniversary & TJs 80th birthday.

Mostly packed – got all the American foods to bring in the checked bag suitcase – now to figure out what I’m forgetting.

  6. Was confused as to why I was hungry until I realized that it is 9:30am and I have not eaten anything today.

  7. Steve says:

Yeah, what Paulie said. I hope it’s a great trip, Barb. and HAPPY 80th TJ!!

  8. Barb says:

wordle in 3, Mini in 2. something minutes

  9. Just saw my first hummingbird of the season at my feeder. Had I seen this 24 hours ago, I would be ecstatic, today, I find it meh.

  10. Just found out that I owe about $2K in taxes. I swear I don’t understand how I owe money given that I earned no money in the last four months of the year.

Ugh, that wasn’t the news I was hoping to hear to distract me from my funk.

    • David says:

The barrel doesn’t play. Hope you get out soon. It does feel odd that you would owe that much. I’m a CPA, but I don’t do taxes, not even my own. Might be worth a second opinion or to run it through TurboTax or something.

      • Yep, I’ve been in the barrel before. Suffice to say yesterday’s news floored me from out of the blue, today’s seems to be a recurring theme in my life.

I will check the numbers when I get my paperwork back.

  11. Dangen, I forgot to bring my book to read during the hour I have to sit during my survey.

  12. Just noticed that the date in the header has been wrong all day. What a piece of shit I am…
