After a trip to Lowe’s and coffee with Betsy, I spent the majority of yesterday morning choring. I completely cleaned the inside and out of the M6 before doing some WLF choring, mostly weed whacking. My “kinkless” expanding hose has developed a leak. You know what may impossible to do? Repair a hose that expands and contracts with water pressure. Sadly I am not sure if I can even bring it to CHaRM for recycling. Before giving it the heave ho I will search YouTube for repair videos, I know there must be some.

I can’t say much about the rest of my day and night because they were rather unspectacular. I never realized how hard it would be to skip a hash, especially one I was anticipating attending.

I wish I could figure out how to sleep through the night. I am wide awake at 2am. It is now 3:40am and I have just finished reading a book titled “The Man Who Died Twice”. I am going to attempt to go back to sleep.

My left mid/lower back and left foot are a little sore, probably from riding, or perhaps from contorting while cleaning the car. My right thumb, while still a little swollen and tender, seems to be healing ever so slowly.

Depending on when you are reading this I am either:
– out running last night’s Moonlite trail (I avoided Strava last night so I could be surprised as to where it went)
– out running/reccying my SLUT trail for next week
– done with both of those and on to something else

At noon today I will be up in Sandy Springs for a paid survey at Jackson. It’s a ninety minute survey paying $80. After my survey I am driving over to the Apple Store in Cumberland Mall to pick up an order I placed; I am purchasing a WiFi enabled water controller for the back spigot so I can water WLF when I go away for multiple days. Since I will be in Sandy Springs I wanted to order it from the Perimeter Mall store, but the item wouldn’t be available to be picked up there until Wednesday.

Upon arriving home this afternoon I will return to WLF choring. It’s time for me to make a planting plan for when all of my pepper and tomato seedlings are ready to plant out. Also I need to figure out why some of my fig tree transplants are now dying.

As for tonight, well, it will be a routine Tuesday during which I remain home and stream some television. Perhaps tonight I will raise my spirits by cooking up a fancy pants dinner for one.

Hope that your week has started well and that your are healthy.

Tuesday Tale of the Tape: 182.4 pounds (-2.8 from last week’s weigh-in); a lot of heavy lifting done by the 150 miles on the bike I’m sure. I am on a mission to be around 175 pounds by BRAG Lite.

I solved today’s Wordle in four attempts; my starter today was WAIST

Oh, and Happy Birthday to Bonnie. If you are FB friends with her why don’t you swing by there and wish her a happy birthday if you haven’t done so already.

  1. Okay, two trails in one day is not happening. Bonnie’s Moonlight eagle trail was 4.5 miles with some tough inclines. By the end my feet were barking. I will reccy my SLUT trail tomorrow morning.

Also, my palm and wrist went black and blue again after my run. Bummer.

A fairly quiet day “at the office” yesterday (read that as from my recliner.) It allowed me to mostly catch up on race paperwork and I’ve almost got that completed. One more accident report from Saturday, which our EMT gave to another official who didn’t work Sunday is still missing.

Besides cutting the grass, I swapped out the filter on the well. This is a bit of a challenge, as the new plumbing which was installed last year sometime doesn’t allow me to isolate the filter, so I have to turn the pump off, or as I did yesterday, force the pressure switch open so it can’t make the connection when the pressure drops. A couple little sticks shorts that out just fine. The canister is a PITA to get off as it’s a tight fit and made even tighter by the cold water from the well. This is why there is new piping, as somebody snapped a piece of pipe trying to loosen the filter!

    It’s always something!

Wordle in 4, Mini in under 2.

Yesterday was an average day, but did a walk to Sal’s house to let JoAnna’s dogs out to pee, as she was at work all day & they have little bladders. Its a little under 2 miles so worked well for a lunchtime walk.

Decided at the last minute to go to the Y for a stretch class at 7pm, figured it would be good for us after camping & riding. And it was. Dinner was food left over from the weekend, brats & burgers.

Allan is at work today, not sure what I will be up to this evening.

Happy (or if there’s beer involved, hoppy) Birthday, Bonnie! Visualize, if you will, a string of festive emojis here: ;,)

Wordle in 5. BRICK confirmed one letter, then 2 attempts with 3 confirmed letters. 4th attempt had 4 confirmed letters, then I nailed it on the 5th try. That is a very typical Wordle for me.

NYT Mini in 38 seconds. Good PT session today, it let like something released in my shoulder. I still have far to go but I’ll take it.

    • Bonnie’s trail went near your place last night, or today for me. I almost started yelling LURKER at the top of my lungs, but was too worn out to do so.

The 4.5 miles of “running” I did is the most I have done in a very long time. My heart and lungs were saved by some timely stops to cross major streets.

      • David says:

Well, today would have been a good day for you to yell that, as my wife was away at work. Good thing for my neighbors that you were too tired, but we’re pretty jaded from the weird stuff that we see in the park, so you would have fit right in. “I have no idea why that guy would be yelling Lurker. He must be off his meds.” 😉

I meant to mention that today’s NYT Mini did have a shoutout for my former persona.

Mini in 4+ minutes – I am not good at crosswords.
Wordle in 3, using Paulie’s start word.

Decided to send my left over 60 euros to my niece who is heading to Valencia Spain next week. Hope they get there in time. Wish I had thought of it sooner.

    • Three? Well done! After my second guess failed I had to play an exploratory word to ensure my success, hence four for me.

That’s a nice thing to do, hope they get there promptly.

  6. Water will fall from the sky? Why? Because I washed my car yesterday…

  7. Looking at the mileage for BRAG Lite — 62, 69.5, 68.5 — I am going to have to put in some training time between now and June!

    • Steve says:

And my recon of the route yesterday showed a significant climb out of the Flint river valley- topping out at 7%! Nice!!

  8. Reminiscing can be the most painful thing to do. I just can’t seem to stop…

I need to figure out how to move on, but I have never been good at moving on. Dangen.

    • David says:

One word. Therapy. That is all.

      • Perhaps, eventually, though I don’t understand how spilling my guts to a professional will make it all better. So, perhaps, eventually.

        • David says:

I hear you. I do. I was absolutely and completely in your camp. I don’t need any fucking therapy. I’m FINE, goddamn it. But I wasn’t. Not at all. It’s obviously a huge oversimplification to call it “spilling your guts”. That’s definitely a part of it, they have to know what your struggles are. The thing is, therapists don’t actually fix you, they guide you and give you tools for fixing yourself. And help you get unstuck. Whatever is currently keeping you stuck (and has been for as long as I’ve been reading this blog) won’t go away on its own. You have to put in the work. The work sucks. I can attest. But it sucks *WAY* less than not doing it. I’ll stop here, but I’m a total convert. I tried it both says, and there’s no comparison. I really do with the best for you Paulie, and if I felt like you could figure it out on your own I’d keep my mouth shut. I know what your pain feels like, I’ve been there, even though the actual circumstances may be wildly different, I know what that level of pain looks and feels like, and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. I’m glad you’re at least open to entertaining the idea. That’s a step forward, whether you realize it or not.

  9. Barb says:

Sal just came by to get her eggs (from my neighbor) so I have her mailing my card to my niece. Now I really don’t have to leave the house today.

She said to tell you that you will be fine with the mileage if you just keep riding some between now & then.

And – I guess Head Eunuch & Can’t Say No will be in town this weekend, but they are meeting up at George’s Friday, and Marty & Sam will be there, so she is going to skip that outing.

    • Steve says:

Oh really?? I might drop in for that.

I wonder if MC knows and can bring happy hour along?

      • Barb says:

I would think they mighty not want that to happen? I have no idea who all was invited. I haven’t talked to those 2 in forever.

      • Barb says:

Brewery Road is playing at Wild Heaven in Decatur Friday night. I’ll guess that will be the H5 location.

  10. Debbie says:

Wordle in 4 starting with AISLE. Should’ve been 3, but I was in a hurry.

Work is kicking my butt. Not having a bit of fun.

  11. Eating vegetarian at the mall food court. What has happened to me? Lol

  12. No denying that the top of my right foot hurts at the moment. Also, I dressed for this morning’s weather and not the current weather.

Weather is also canceling my WLF choring today.

  13. Just woke from a hard nap. I guess I recouped the 90 minutes I was awake last night.
