Discovered what I believe is a new crack in my bedroom ceiling. I am really good at noticing change, so I am certain this substantial crack would have caught my eye previously. Looks as if I will be getting up into the attic this week. Oh the joys of home ownership!

Trying to figure out changes I need to make in order to improve my mood.

Hope you have a good Labor Day.

I solved today’s Wordle in five attempts; my starter today was DRAFT

  1. NYT Mini Crossword in 50 seconds. Labored today.

    Heardle fail.

  2. I have to remember that it’s “spider season”. I walked through part of a very large web taking out the trash in the dark this morning.

Yes, I realize it’s Labor Day so there will be no trash service today, but the bag in the kitchen was filled, so I took it out to the can.

Wordle in 5, Mini in 44, should have been faster.

I wasn’t sad that it rained so hard yesterday for a couple of reasons. One, I have a new yard guy who is moving a bunch of plants around in my yard and they needed a good soak. I used to get so much joy from working in my yard but these days I’d so rather be on my bike.

The second reason is yesterday was the House in the Park festival that is typically a shitshow. A few years ago I got caught in a traffic quagmire that had me sitting in traffic for an hour just blocks from my house. I don’t use my car on House in the Park days any more. I walked over to EAV yesterday and had a pizza and beer lunch at Grant Central. I’m doing something right because my teenage daughter tracked me down there and joined me for lunch, delaying going to see her boyfriend. After lunch I walked her to the Reynoldstown MARTA station and then walked to Park Grounds and based out of there for a couple of hours to make some headway on wrapping up this second book. The persistent “thump, thump, thump” of House in the Park drives me crazy, so I spent the day away from the house. It was a great day.

I’ll be laboring today to get a video produced and edge ever closer to wrapping up this other book. I have to be done with both projects in the next couple of days, and it will be a huge relief.

Perhaps all of your earthmoving out back has caused your house to settle? 😉 At least the weather should be cool enough to make an attic visit feasible, although I wonder what you’ll see if it’s insulated.

Heardle fail. Heardle 80s #1 failed on their part, because that album was NOT released in the 80s. Heardle 60s was interesting today because I didn’t realize a ubiquitous 80s song was a remake.

    • I can see plenty up there. It’s an unfinished attic with batten insulation. It’s just a royal pain in the ass to get up and down as the access is a porthole in a closet.

      • David says:

Yeah, shit like that gets harder every damn year at this age.

        • Yeah, I was thinking about when I did the insulation. Turns out I was in my late thirties!

I am also considering doing some room/furniture rearranging, another task I have not done since turning fifty.

          • David says:

I needed an armoire moved from upstairs to downstairs in my house, and the $150 I paid a local junk removal guy to provide the labor was the best money I’ve spent in a long time. I am out of the furniture moving business. That is a young man’s game. The junk removal guy is no fool, he had his young assistant handing the heavy end of things as they moved the armoire downstairs.

    Well, let’s see.

Saturday, I was a slug. Sunday, I got inspired to exercise a little and did a half hour on the trainer. As I was watching the Maryland Classic (with lots of friends working it) I couldn’t Zwift, so just set the trainer to 150 watts. At 160 bpm, I didn’t feel like I was at my limit, which I have been recently. It was just a short outing, but a good sign, I think.

Celebrated good health by getting sushi last night. I like when the owner (I think he’s the owner) recognizes us, gives us a little appetizer and makes recommendations to us. Always good sushi.

Wordle in 3! And my starting word was a complete miss!!

Off to dust off my scooter.

  6. Sal says:

Wordle in 4 using DRAFT. Met up with friends, Don and Linda, from Oregon for the Oregon Georgia game on Saturday. Don was my boss from when I worked for the Forest Service. The stadium was super loud!! I have to say the DUCK fans never lost hope. lol. Been dog sitting all week-end. Ran 10 miles yesterday at Kennesaw. Very humid. Got in some yard work before the rains and then went to Schoolhouse Brewery. Was hoping to get my yard work done today but looks like another round of rain. Might be inside house work. No other plans.

  7. Watching the end of yesterday’s La Vuelta stage. One of the benefits of watching the replay is that all of the commercials have been removed. Woot! It is far too ugly to ride outdoors, so I mounted the trainer for an hour.

    • Steve says:

That was a great stage. Watching live, the one guy that went off-roading, I was just noticing how the turn tightened up at the end and he was already at the limit. Might need clean shorts after that.

Back from a brief scooter ride. Still misting and a bit of actual rain. This was the first ride sans windshield- still searching for less noise. Rain at 60 mph is painful.

      • David says:

Rain in the face sucks enough on a bicycle, I’m sure that tripling or quadrupling one’s speed makes it hurt exponentially worse. Your experience reminds me of my century ride last year where I got caught in a lightning storm where it was coming down so hard I could only see a few feet in front of me. I lost trail a few times during that downpour.

  8. Ate meat yesterday, and meeting a buddy for lunch at Pig n Chick today, so probably going to be carnivore for two consecutive days.
