Sadly my dinner did not consist of famous Cajun/Creole cuisine, instead I had an awesome burger from a place called Burger Nerds because it was inside an Irish bar nearby my AirBnB.

I walked more than eleven miles yesterday. After a huge lunch and a beer I tried to follow Monday’s hash trail (walking over a mile to get to the start), but lost it after a couple miles. Then, I decided I wanted to visit a brewery, and when that didn’t pan out I walked back to my rental neighborhood making my walk about eight miles.

Baby it’s cold outside!

I solved today’s Wordle in five attempts; my starter today was DAIRY

I’m so glad you’re travelling, I know my trip to Costa Rica was so good for my soul. I’ve only been to New Orleans a couple of times, but it’s always good for the soul tool.

Wordle in 4 starting with DANCE (spoiler alert: DANCE is not recommended for a start word today). No mini today, I need to get to work here.

Early voting has started, so get your vote on (if you’re in town).

    • Jenka says:

Emory has opened a polling location, which could NOT be more convenienter for me. I will be visiting today or tomorrow.

    • It’s been a mixed bag. I wish my bike ride hadn’t been truncated yesterday, but I did see a lot of NO on foot, including crossing a bridge (twice) which scared the hell out of me. Spoiler: I intend to see more on foot today. It would be more fun with a partner-in-crime, but most things are.

If I get back ITP while early voting is still an option that will be high on my list of chores, along with laundry.

The food in NOLA is outstanding, I’m wicked jealous just for that.

We went to Kitty Dare for dinner last night (the location that used to be One Eared Stag). It’s Mediterranean in it’s broadest term: it has dishes from Spain, Italy, Greece, Lebanon, Israel, and Libya on the menu! It was very good and we will be back.

    • The food is incredible, I am only disappointed that I have not been hungrier and I won’t get to eat everything I desired. Oh well, cause for another trip here?

Wish I had brought my mountain bike.
Wish I hadn’t waited so long to return.

      • Barb says:

it’s impossible to eat all the desired foods in New Orleans – just accept that & eat here & there.

We need a weekend trip down there – I think 2 nights is plenty around Bourbon St – but there are other things to see too.

        • I walked through Bourbon Street yesterday, even made it to the Cat’s Meow but it wasn’t open yet. My goal is to visit all of the other areas in town. My AirBnB is in a neighborhood called “Mid City”.

      • David says:

Dude, I know it’s hard for you, but try to stay in the current moment, and soak up what you DO have, instead of constantly pining for what you don’t. Shoulda/coulda/woulda is just toxic and destructive. It even keeps you from fully enjoying what is right in front of you.

        • Don’t get me wrong, I am having a good time. I have been chatting up bartenders wherever I go.

I doubt I could have convinced anyone to do the non-sensical walk that I did yesterday. Lol

          • David says:

Oh, I am all over nonsensical walks, bike trips, making a break for the opposite coast in Costa Rica. (although thankfully I talked myself down). You’re not that special (I mean that in the most gracious way possible). 🙂

    • David says:

Good to know about Kitty Dare! I’ll check it out! Plus you can’t beat an on-premises voting location. I found a voting location behind the new MLK natatorium, so that’s where we’ll go.

  3. Email notifications for your comments are once again glacial in delivery, so if I don’t respond that’s the reason, or, I am walking/eating/drinking.

My lunch choice today, Frankie & Johnny’s, is a 4.4 mile walk from my AirBnB. From there I have many choices of breweries/bars for my return trip.

  4. Barb says:

We went to see the move Amsterdam last night ($6 for the win).
It was weird, cool, different, lots of good actors. I have no idea how to describe it.
I’m glad we went – we enjoyed it.

Today is Sal’s birthday – and she texts me – she had a dead battery this morning! Allan isn’t working, I sent him over to rescue her. Hope it just needs a jump.

    • Funny, I had no idea that today is her birthday and texted her thanks for selling me the sneakers that are taking me all over NOLA. Just sent a follow up HBD text.

Cold weather is hell on batteries. Note to self: start the M6 today.

  5. Barb says:

Allan went & voted after helping Sal – no line at all.
I’ll get around to it one of these days, or just go on the official voting day. Who knows?

    • David says:

Well, you’re in Cobb County, so voting on the day probably won’t be a big deal. I live in Fulton County and I am voting early for sure.

      • Jenka says:

I’m in DeKalb and I’ll definitely make sure to vote early. It was a 45 minute wait in 2020 and it’ll be just as bad at my polling place this time around. Folks in Candler Park are hella politically active.

  6. Have made the long walk for lunch, and as if I requested it they are playing Tool, a band I discovered at Lollapalloza at Tulane University in 1993.

Today’s lunch is chicken and andouille gumbo. Yay!

  7. Steve says:

Just coming up for air… 2 weeks of emails, catch up meetings, late equipment de-installs, general frivolity… boy, I’m beat.

Wordle in 6 – embarrassed it took so long. Words ending in that letter apparently stump me.

    -FP

  8. Walked past Tipitina’s and tonight’s musical act was walking past at the same time. I don’t recognize the man nor woman, but know they are “somebodies” since there are a photographer taking shots of them as they walked.

  9. As I walk (everywhere) I try to imagine what this place was like in late 2005.

    • Jenka says:

I was there in June 2006 and the French Quarter was largely back to normal except there were a lot of empty storefronts.

  10. Debbie says:

Wordle in 3 starting with SALET which is also not recommended today. Mini in :43

I finished my forklift script last night, glad it’s done and I’m pretty proud of it. Trying to make operating a forklift training interesting and engaging is no small task.

We’re outsourcing the production on this one, so I’ve just got to collect the clips and make any edits and then my part is done.

Glad you’re enjoying NOLA Paulie! That gumbo sounds really tasty and would hit the spot on a chilly day for sure!
