Had a fun time last night going out to see a concert at The Garden Club (at Wild Heaven Brewing in the West End). The venue still has some tweaking to do on its acoustics, imho, but shows some promise.
I solved today’s Wordle in three attempts; my starter today was GLARE
“Working” today and tomorrow so I don’t reply in a timely manner, as if I normally do, you understand why.
what are you taste testing today?
No, some focus group on Zoom from 8-6 today and tomorrow
that’s s long day – on camera the whole time?
Working? What a concept! Wordle in 3, Mini in 2.
Meg and Ella came south and picked up the car. A cute Mazda CX3 (?). If it has the same engine I have, it could run a while.
We met them at a place we’ve never tried before, AJ’s. Always seems crowded. Good service, decent food, wide variety. Sort of a Taco Mac without as many TV’s, though there was a tabletop TV in our booth. Odd. I guess to watch “your” game?
Looks like the first day of my vacation tomorrow might be a bit soggy, but we sure need it.

Don’t like this, it since I can’t seem to stop spending it, I want to earn more money.
A TV in the booth would be a dream for me! There are so few places in Atlanta to watch non-Georgia sports and absolutely no one wants to watch the Patriots or the Red Sox. Last time I went to The Big Game I asked an HOUR before any of the games started for one TV and they still gave me shit when 1:00 pm rolled around.
I was supposed to meet a friend at OK Yaki (next to Hodgepodge) but just as I was at Ormewood and Moreland about to turn she called me and said there was nowhere to park. We decided to switch to Spoon instead. Which was delightful.
Tomorrow we fly up to NYC for my 25th college reunion! As some of you know I went to a small private college in upstate NY called Ithaca College, and we have a HUGE rivalry with nearby SUNY Cortland. It’s “the biggest little rivalry in Division III.” The annual football game is called the Cortaca Jug. Well, through some sort of magic, they managed to secure Yankee Stadium for the game! We have tickets to “Chicago” on Broadway tomorrow night and then we’ll go to the game on Saturday. I admit I am not looking forward to navigating the NY subway from Times Square to the Bronx.
Jenka- there’s always a cab (or Uber/Lyft) option. I’ve never really used the subway, so I think I would need someone to help me figure it out. I know it probably isn’t that tough, but……..
It sounds like a fun weekend in NYC!
Google Maps can tell you exactly which subway trains to take. That sounds like an amazing weekend!
Wordle in 5 today. I found some irony in today’s word given that my start word was LEAVE.
OMG, you’re a genius! If we walk 9 blocks to Columbus Circle there’s a train straight there!
Sweet! I’m so glad I could make that part of your trip easier! 🙂
David is certainly a smart guy!!!
Awww, thank you, Barb. 🙂
Have a GRAND time! The game sounds like a hoot and “Chicago” is a terrific show.
thought the Mini was a bust as the across words weren’t coming to me – but I got all the downs – 44 seconds!!!! I think that’s the best I’ve ever done
Wordle is 4 – I really thought my 3rd guess would be right – but nope!
You beat me at the Mini! 57 seconds.
its a miracle!!!! may need to go buy a lottery ticket now.
You’re a little late, someone already won the 2 billion prize. I mean, why bother otherwise… 😉
We started working on planning some vacation for next year, my Delta Amex credit card has given me 2 companion tickets – 1 expires 1/31/23 – I think we will just fly down to FL somewhere for a long weekend. Then – 1 that expires 4/30/23 – thinking about going back to AZ in March – see my sister & do more exploring – so many places in AZ to see.
And – I spent a lot of money on that card this year – I’m now Platinum Medallion – never, ever thought I’d get that status since I don’t fly that much. I picked the 4 regional upgrades as the “choice benefit” – hopefully that will work so we can fly first class to AZ.
This will mean nothing to all of you, but I am thrilled to find out that Valient Thorr is playing Drunken Unicorn on 11/20. I will be there, and it may be the last show I see at Drunken Unicorn before it closes in the near future.
Back to work…
Wordle took all 6, but I got it. Mini in :27
Ollie gets a monthly shot for allergies since he tries to chew all of his skin off on the regular. I thought it was a series that ended at some point, but it’s not. $100/month forever feels like a LOT. Pets are expensive, but we knew that.
Work announcement on Monday that we are potentially losing 45% of our revenue next year. Merry fucking Christmas. Sadly I think it came about because of gamesmanship from our current president. He may get pushed out 6 months earlier than he planned so he’s going to burn it down. Heckuva nice guy.
Good thing I sold Ceili so we have a cushion if I don’t have a job for a while.
Crap. You’re making me appreciate being self-employed yet again. Hang in there! There’s huge risk to any business to have that much revenue concentrated in a single customer.
I am somehow big in London these days. I led a live webinar in London last month, and today I was interviewed by a reporter for the Sunday Times of London about the rise of Excel in e-sports. The annual World Cup of Financial Modeling is currently underway, and she was looking for background on how Excel could have become an e-sports platform of all things. It was a wide ranging and very fun conversation. That’s the funny thing about writing, both books and articles, is that it opens doors that would have never opened otherwise.
Now that’s just cool.
Now that Excel can be called a sport,
NERDS UNITE!!!
LOL! I’m no Tom Brady, but I can definitely hold my own on the spreadsheet playing field, that’s for sure.
Next time I need help with a pivot table I’m coming to you!
Yes! I’d love to help. 🙂 Paulie has my deets.
