I’m going to let Wordle fester, I’ve stopped after 3 with two correct letters in place but no clue what the word might be. I started with CLEAN but now I see COMFY would have been good as well to reflect my new bed.

Back to the salt mine today…

I thought I was going to whiff 2 in a row, but finally in 6 starting with SAINT.

One of our gifts this year was a Roomba. We had one a few years ago when Satchmo was still alive. I think his hair was what finally did in that robot. I decided we could give it another try as these dogs aren’t too hairy and this one empties itself. I ran the “mapping” program yesterday and it made a nice, reasonably accurate floorplan, but there was nowhere to use it. He also got lost, or maybe just hung up over in Debbie’s office and I had to rescue him. We shall see…

My other “gift” to Debbie was hanging our farm sign. The first challenge is how to suspend a 48″ circle of thick plywood. My current attempt involves a cable around the outside with a turnbuckle. This may work with the addition of small screws to keep the cable in place. Hooked the post hole digger to the tractor and got the posts in the ground.

As I lay in bed this morning, I realized I may have been premature in not draining the barn plumbing for last nights low temp. We shall see…

we had a Roomba – it got caught up on too many things, I decided to give up on it. Gave it to Mary & TJ – she has the time (& wants to) watch it work & help it when it needs help.

    how’s the new bed David????

Yesterday we went to Waffle House – we try to go around Christmas time – our waitress was ok – but still gave her a decent tip. She actually gave me $5 too much in change (I paid with cash) but I let her know so the cash register wasn’t off.

In the afternoon we tried to replace the cutoff handle on Mary & TJs water meter – it was broken, not sure if the Marietta Water guys did it -or when it happened. Bought 1 at Home Depot – WRONG – bought 2 at Ace – neither were right. How can there be more sizes or threads or whatever??? Allan ordered one off Amazon – we will see. We try to go to the brick & mortar stores – we try……..

So far so good on the bed. It’s hard to tell from one night but I definitely didn’t toss and turn as much. I like the bedding I chose as well. It is nice having dictatorial authority over some things. 🙂

  4. Hello from north Florida! One slowdown thus far. May stop at Buc-ees when I hit Fort Valley, we’ll see.

  5. Barb says:

Wordle in 3 – that was a lucky guess

Mini in 1:10 – if only I could type the letters in the correct spaces on the 1st try.

  6. Steve says:

I just made a run to pick up scripts at the CVS and apparently, there was some sort of precip last night. Judging from what I saw in the shade of the mancave, I would identify it as sleet. Only on hard surfaces- nothing on the grass that I could tell. Probably gone by now. Only showed up because the ground was so cold after the weekend.

  7. Got off at the Buc-ees exit, and seeing their parking lot full (!) thought better of stopping there.

  8. Debbie Brady says:

Wordle in 4 starting with BEAST.

It was a nice Christmas weekend! I feel very fortunate that we made it through the cold with all pipes intact and that Steve’s plumbing system for the barn worked perfectly. Being able to give the horses warm soup without having to lug water from the house was a luxury!

Looking forward to a ride in the balmy weather this afternoon!

  9. Home:
Good News: no busted pipes even with at least one power outage.
Bad News: almost everything in WLF, including frost-tolerant plants, was walloped by this frost. All May be lost for a winter garden now.

  10. Barb says:

We was just flagged down by my next door neighbor’s daughter – her house burned down (in Austell) the day before Christmas (I think that was the date she said). She was asking Allan about ways to get help – they are starting a gofundme page, but if he had any ideas….. So, I gave her my phone# – I said I would spread the gofundme page around to other neighbors, etc.
    How awful…….

    • That is horrible. Not to sound like Scrooge, but did they not have insurance? I know that it takes time to get a settlement, and that certainly sucks.

      • Barb says:

I have no idea – I didn’t ask that many questions.
But – my guess is, even if they do have insurance, it takes a while to get it all figured out.
she hasn’t texted me the info – so, until she does, I can’t do much.
