Happy ITP New Year! I figured if the Chinese can decide when their year starts, so can I.

The plan was to start my efforts for losing weight and saving money today, but then I got sick on Monday throwing all plans in the air. I thought the illness had broken when I awoke at 5:00, my shirt was damp from sweat but my head was clear and my headache gone. That improvement didn’t last long however, I am back to feeling shitty.

I solved today’s Wordle in four attempts; my starter today was SPOUT

    good morning –
    sorry you aren’t feeling better.

WELL – we decided to go buy a camper late yesterday afternoon. Put the deposit down, will finalize the deal & bring it home next Tuesday.
Allan is very excited to get all the camper stuff out of the garage.
This one is 25′ but has a lot of storage – it is designed for basically just 2 people, so we have full size (not camper short) queen bed, the slide out for the table, loveseat with basically 2 recliner chairs. Decent amount of counter space & a nice size bathroom.
    We are very excited.

Then went to the American Legion for a cold cheap beer, as we will be poor for a while now 😉
But seriously – I paid of my car, so this payment will be like a car payment, and we will pay it off soon enough, I don’t think we will actually take 10 or 15 years like the loan is set up.

    • Thanks, I was hoping to be well by now…

Exciting. Look forward to seeing the camper at STU.

    • Bob says:

Congrats on the new camper Barb! Can’t wait to see it at STU or sooner.

Are you guys coming to the Clemson wheelhopper campout?

    • Jenka says:

One of my retirement dreams is to take a year and drive a camper across the country. Kevin hates that shit so I feel like it will only happen if he dies while I am still young enough to do it.

      • Barb says:

we figure we will take a few months at least every year once we are retired. But – who knows???? It is a small space, might be too much togetherness. 😉

Wordle in 5, starting with TREAD. Shouldn’t have taken 5, but I’ll take it.

Very exciting Barb!! And the load is only as long as our mortgage! Ugh.

A long day yesterday, dealing with idiots, but that’s part of the job. Getting all my stuff together for Miami. Leaving Friday and returning Monday. We had a rule a while back that if we did major network changes, we’d hang around until the first business day to make sure everyone was happy. Easy to do in Miami in winter!

A hard half hour on the trainer last night. A shame Zwift can’t run in the background while I watch GCN, but I finally figured out how to split the iPad screen, so it sorta works.

    • Barb says:

I figured out how to split the screen on my iPad by accident – took me forever to figure out how to get it back to 1 screen. (no idea how I did it)

We will pay off that loan probably within the year – they encourage you to finance – but really, didn’t get a better deal. I just don’t want to transfer that much money around right now (I’m lazy). And – we do still need to get a new roof someday.

  3. Bob says:

Hope you feel better soon Paulie!

We went to Murphy’s for dinner last night for the first time in years. It’s still exactly the same.

Started watching The Bear. It’s really good, but it’s only the first season and it’s only 8 episodes, so it won’t take us long.

    • David says:

Ooooh, yes, The Bear is really good. I loved that show. I had a serviceable Chicago style roast beef sandwich at a bar in Knoxville Saturday night.

    • Yes The Bear was good, and intense. In the first episode of The Premise I had a “Where have I seen that person?” moment, it turned out to be the young African American woman who is a chef in The Bear.

  5. David says:

Wordle in 4 starting with TIRED. I had the last two letters in the right place and a third letter in the wrong place in 2. I used a strategic word in my third attempt because I was stuck.

My TPMS light continues to be illuminated so a return to Discount Tire is on my horizon.

Congrats on the camper, Barb. I hope you feel better soon, Paulie!

    • Bummer about the TPMS. Given the number of people who have issues with it, I’m beginning to think it’s a flawed system.

My third word cemented my success in four as it used letters from the two words, one of which I assumed would be correct.

      • David says:

I had a feeling when the guy spent an inordinate amount of time with the scanner at my front right tire before I drove out. I’m sure they’ll get it right. My car does drive better with new tires, so there is that.

Yes, my third guess set me up for success in four too. I chose a word I felt could confirm the positioning of the letter that was in the wrong spot, and then it revealed a 4th letter too.

  6. Barb says:

Debating on doing the Clemson Wheelhopper campout in May (now that we will have a camper)- there are almost no sites left. (& none near the loops people have booked) Trying to decide what to do. Will anyone cancel?

  7. One other ITP New Year resolution is to spend more time writing code. I failed mightily restarting my Wordle clone. I have much to lear before feeling confident enough to interview again.

  8. steve says:

Just checked in with Debbie, on her way to Ocala to look at a horse. My timing was perfect as she had been pulled over for speeding. Ugh.

    More news later.

  9. steve says:

Welcome to Lenox, GA, where they don’t cut you any slack and wrote her up for 88 in a 70 mph zone. At least it wasn’t “super speeder”.

For those playing at home, South of Tifton and North of Adel.

    Ouch.

  10. Still shaking uncontrollably as if I am shivering. Whatever the fuck has inhabited me, doesn’t want to leave.

Had to cancel on my buddy Shelby last night, canceling on Betsy tonight. Poop!
