The last time I was this sick was in February 2020. Back then, we joked that I contracted the novel coronavirus after eating in a Chinese buffet. How naïve were we?

Unless I have a variant that is undetectable by my COVID home tests I once again have escaped the dreaded disease, but that doesn’t diminish how shitty I have felt this week. And each time I believe that it has broken, the virus looks at me and says “Oh, I’m not done with you yet.” (during some fever pitches the other night I might have had a vision quest like this) As of 5:20am I am still afflicted, I have a cough, am achy, have a minor headache, and occasional shivers.

Maybe today will be the day it vacates my body? Fingers crossed. Regards of my progress I think that I will self isolate for the next few days. This will help the budget, and maybe even my waistline.

I solved today’s Wordle in three attempts; my starter today was MOGUL

  1. Today is Groundhog Day. Every day this week has felt like Groundhog Day to me, because since Monday I have done the same thing, basically nothing.

Wordle in 4 starting with SATIN.

Sorry you’re feeling puny. I think you have the flu. You could still have the Covid, though. Did you happen to look at the expiration dates on the tests? They don’t have a long shelf life.

Debbie thinks she has found a horse. Only pictures of the trainer riding, but she said he’s really sweet. Apparently Saddle Sores is also down there, and they may get together. Goes by the name of Harry.

I found something fun to do Sunday in Miami. The Everglades NP has a bike ride and they supply the bikes and helmets. I’m sure they will be cruisers or some such, but that might be a fun way to see things- if the weather holds out.

    • Oh they are expired. I know that. At this point I don’t think I can do anything but wait it out at home. Hopefully that wait won’t be much longer.

That does sound like a neat way to get out and see things.

if Katherine is with her – watch out – who knows what she will come home with.

Bike ride in the Everglades sounds fun.

We are going to take the Key West Express from Fort Myers to KW in May, I decided I’d take the whole week off, even though I think we will only be in Key West for just 1 night. (damn hotels are PRICY in Key West, they are going to lose tourists at those prices). We were thinking about flying, but now might be driving. The Wheelhopper Clemson campout is at the end of that week, so why come back to work for a day & maybe a half?

Ft. Myers to KW? A bus, a plane, a ride?

And I just found out there might not be a car available, so I might be stuck at the hotel Sunday, except for Uber on my dime.

According to a Google search, it is a fancy ferry (yacht) with booze and food.

          • steve says:

Except for getting seasick, that sounds like fun!

          • Jenka says:

It does! It almost makes me want to go back to Key West! Almost.

          • Barb says:

yep – its a ferry. Figured it would be something different to do, its a pain to drive to Key West & to fly is usually pretty pricy. Diana (Cheese Spread) lives in Punta Gorda, she & her hubby are going, I think Head Nurse & EM & maybe some other FL hashers. We have other friends in Fort Myers – so what the hell.

Jenka – only 1 night will be plenty for us.

Key West Express looks fun as hell. I may have to put that on the agenda for our next Florida trip.

  3. This illness has also interrupted some of the daily routines I had put in place in January. I have not even looked at my book of short stories since Monday.

  4. Barb says:

Have you been taking any OTC cold & flu medicine? If not – go get some – they will help.

  5. steve says:

5 to 7 miles on a “mountain type bike”, and I’m in.

It’s just cold and nasty outside. Just back in from feeding the horses and seeing how wet they are. Tanner has no clothes, but he has his full coat of hair. Phinney has his rain coat on with the neck piece too and he seems warm.

    • Barb says:

it looks cold & nasty out. I’m sitting here at my desk with my space heater on. (& a fleece, I guess I could turn up the heat a little)

  6. Jenka says:

You’re the fourth person (hmm, maybe fifth?) I know who recently got the regular flu/winter cold and not Covid. There’s a flu/cold going around.

  7. I just learned that tv’s Cindy Williams (Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley) died last week. Another sliver of my youth gone.

  8. Interesting, in an email from Meetup.com they provided a list of other groups I might like, including, Pinelake Hash House Harriers. Lol Apparently Body Glide made a Meetup group for it?

  9. David says:

Well, I don’t know how much Debbie’s speeding ticket will cost, but I can tell you that if you drive past a school bus with the stop sign out in the City of Atlanta that they will relieve you of $250 of your hard-earned money. I’m not going to name names, but I’m not the one that incurred the citation.

  10. Hovering around 80% health today. Hoping by tomorrow all will be cleared out and I can back to being productive.

Unrelated: I’m tired of feeling like I live in Seattle.
