Not much to report today. Still not 100% healthy, more Florida drama brewing.

Rain coming today, which means that I will be spending the day attempting to get back into code writing.

I solved today’s Wordle in four attempts; my starter today was SPORE

Wordle in 3 starting with AISLE.

I started working on an SQL extract on the database I maintain. The only problem is, I do this so very infrequently, I have to relearn the syntax every time. I might actually have to open a book!

Watched Euro Track Championship while on the trainer last night. I do love me some track racing. Got an email from USAC to be chief judge at the big race in downtown in mid-May. Should be fun.

8 AM to 11 PM!! Holy crap. This might just be a loooong day.

I figured out my SQL query. It wasn’t hard, I just wanted certain values from a column.

Its not looking all the nice outside my window today……. looks quite breezy.

Finally got some of our March AZ vacation planned. Staying with my sister on the weekends – then during the week we will be out & about seeing the state. Hotels in Sedona, Flagstaff & Prescott booked, hot air balloon trip for Annette’s 60th birthday booked (damn, its up to $350/pp). We decided to stay in Flagstaff & do a day trip up to Antelope Canyon, Page, AZ is a small town, and the hotels in Flagstaff were very reasonably priced.
We might even go to a spring training baseball game while we are out there – who knows?

      Sounds lovely.

    • Jenka says:

We usually go down to Ft Myers to catch the Red Sox spring training every March, but we’re skipping it this year because there isn’t a weekend when they are playing at home both days. So now we’re thinking about taking a quick spring trip somewhere and knocking a new baseball stadium off the list. Currently the frontrunner is Kansas City (Braves play them in April). Anyone ever been?

      • Barb says:

Kanas City Royals – late 70s my mom was friends with John Wathan’s cousin – he was a catcher then eventually a manager. It was in the George Brett hey days. We went down to a game & got to sit in the dugout, the boys got to go to the locker room, and the boys got to go out & try to catch a ball during batting practice. So -I’ve been there, but I was maybe 12. (I did meet George Brett – that was cool). Kansas City isn’t a bad town at all, the few times I’ve been there as an adult.

      • Only stopped in KC for barbecue on my ill-fated drive to Boulder. What I saw I liked, what I ate I loved.

The Alejandro Escovedo concert ticket stub I have on my cork board tells me I was in KC on August 28, 2010. Christ it doesn’t feel that long ago…

We have friends in Sedona right now and the pics are just amazing. The camper looks very cool. Maybe a tour next time we’re up that way.

    • Hot air balloon trip is on my bucket list, no pun intended.

It’s been a long time since I did my weeklong trip to Arizona. I have fond memories of Flagstaff, and almost considered moving there until I saw how much snow it gets.

    • Debbie says:

That sounds fantastic! Sedona is on my list for sure.

      • Barb says:

Sedona is crazy expensive – $400 for 1 night, that’s why we are staying in Flagstaff & Prescott the other nights. But – it will be fun for a day or so.

    • Bob says:

Sedona is amazing! I’m sure you are not bringing bikes but the riding there is out of this world. We did 3 days there on our last trip and it was one of my favorites. However, it is stupid expensive for everything.
We only spent a day in Flagstaff but it has a really cool college town vibe. It’s much higher elevation than Sedona so be ready for it to be colder.
Going from the rocks of Sedona to the aspens of Flagstaff is a cool experience too.

      • Barb says:

Bob – we are flying – so no bikes. Hopefully a hike or 2.
My niece went to school in Flagstaff, so she’s got a list of places to go. I really enjoy the different weather you can get in AZ within an hour or so drive. We can borrow warmer clothes from Connie & Lennie if we think we might need it.

Fucking Wordle hurdles. I had four correct letters in two starting with SLEEP, and then two more rounds of roulette to close it out in 4.

I had a fun evening at Red’s Beer Garden, although I spent far more than I planned. Oops. One beer turned into 3, and then Wilson and I were there long enough that one sandwich turned into 2, and then suddenly there’s $60 out the window. But it was worth it. I think the last time I was at Red’s was the first year of the pandemic. It’s definitely been a while.

I’m double-booked this evening, meaning if my first set of plans falls through I have a contingency set. Hoping that I get to the the latter.

The kids and I are in Blue Ridge this weekend. 50% chance of rain on Saturday, 80% on Sunday. I’m not averse to having some chillout time though. Hopefully I can sneak in a Fort Mountain hike at some point on Saturday.

    • I miss Red’s. It was a favorite of mine prior to the great separation of 2022, and I have only been back once since as I see no point in going there solo.

Good luck on the weather up in Blue Ridge. If I ever get healthy enough to ride a bicycle again, and the rest of my life would stop sucking this time that it supposed to be relaxing, I will go up and repeat the excruciating ride I did up there last June/July.

  5. Back from a quick ERD run where I stopped at Kroger for a few essentials, and then CVS inside Target to pick up one of my standing prescriptions. Hmm, next time I should probably tell CVS about my insurance change.

  6. Barb says:

damn – its a good day – Wordle in 2 (damn lucky 2nd guess using Paulie’s start word)
    and Mini in 40 second!!!!

  7. Debbie says:

Wordle in 6 starting with BLOAT. Darn near whiffed it.

I got next to no sleep last night thanks to coughing my head off. Now my voice is going. I need to call Verizon for the umpteenth time to get my phone transferred to our account from the business one. This has been a cluster of epic proportions. The highlight was when I got kicked out of the Verizon store. I’ve never yelled in public in my life, but those folks were not just useless, they were rude AF and useless. I was getting sick and was at least 4 hours of phone time into the process so my tolerance was low, but damn I was mad.

The boys are back to sniping at each other over the fence. I’m not going to mess with putting them back together until I feel up to hanging out and monitoring them. I really want Harry to work out, so hopefully they can reach a peace accord.

    • David says:

Damn, that’s a feat I haven’t ever accomplished. But I did almost get arrested once for losing my shit on woman who took her foot off of the brake on Collier Road and then blamed me for running into her. As if. She rolled backwards on a hill. So yes, I have felt that level of rage before. I was a half block from a training gig that I had to then reschedule. Good luck with your phone.

    • Wow, that’s impressive!
