The old legs churned well yesterday, and if Strava segments are to be believed I saved the best for last achieving a personal top three time for almost all of the final 10-15 segments. Woof! I pedaled with a fury of a man angry with the world, on steroids, or both.

With a hard ride completed and lunch eaten my body deemed that rest and relaxation were in order. I took a ninety minute nap, and ate scraps for dinner, not wanting to spent the mental nor physical energy to cook something. I started a jigsaw puzzle of a red fox laying in leaves (gifted to me by Sal), and can already tell that this will take me some time as this puzzle has a very limited color pallet, making it hard to identify the correct pieces.

I have a lot of choring to do today, but intend to take my time and not feel rushed. My drinking team is out of town so I have decided to spend the night at home. I’m considering making a meatloaf, or perhaps sloppy joes for dinner.

I solved today’s Wordle in five attempts; my starter today was DRUGS. After three guesses I had the final four letters in the proper place. My fourth play used the three possible letters that could have been that first letter, solidifying my correctness in five.

  1. I considered signing up to hare Monday’s trail to keep my “Wee is Risen” hash streak going, but in the end decided I didn’t want to do so.

  2. The clocks on my iPhone and iPad are a minute different. It shouldn’t be that these two devices use different code for fetching and displaying the time on their respective home screens. As a developer this is bothersome and should never happen.

Wordle in 4 starting with SATIN (don’t).

Happy anniversary to my charming bride. 17 years, and the day was actually a Friday.

Started a new Netflix series while on the trainer yesterday. “Night Agent” spy thriller, who can you trust- has my interest.

Also watched Masters coverage, Seeing an “amateur” hanging with the big dogs was cool. Not sure how he still has that status as his shirt was filled with sponsors. Maybe he still doesn’t have his “tour card”?

Last call for TC tomorrow… David? Bob, will Travis be joining us or is he too cool for school? Barb, please remind Allan.

Current status: waiting in the Starbucks parking lot before heading to Lake Wedowee in Alabama. So no TC for me. Rain check, please.

Wordle in 4 starting with BRUTE since BRUTAL is too long.

Dinner at Hankook was excellent as always – I “forgot” I don’t drink caffeinated beverages after mid afternoon – I had a diet coke with dinner – and – I could not get to sleep last night. So, I got maybe 5 hours of sleep. I should know better.

Tonight a few friends are coming over to hang on the deck – we saw a recipe for a bourbon boozy milkshake online, discussion about it on the FB, we all decided it would be tasty, and a little dinner get together was created.

Uneventful drive to the lake, which is always good. I felt old and creaky yesterday, and realized it’s because I finally got back on my damn bike again. An epsom salt bath last night cured what ailed me, I feel better and less creaky today. I think I’ll ride to Stone Mountain next weekend and start getting back into the flow again. Let me know if anyone wants to join in, the timing is flexible.

  7. Back from first batch of chores – Lowe’s, Sprouts, Whole Foods, tax preparer’s office, Shell, Dollar Tree. Whew. Time for lunch before attacking the afternoon.

    Where is the rain?

    • David says:

This is why I pay zero attention to weather forecasts, because they’re consistently wrong. Word on the street is it was supposed to rain all weekend here at the lake, and yet it’s as sunny as can be. I use the weather app on my phone to check the temperature, I do trust that, but I don’t trust weather forecasts as far as I could throw a meteorologist. I mean, nice work if you can get it, being wrong that often on the job with no consequence.

that’s quite a list of stores to stop at……..

  8. I have not received a single email generated by comments made. I realize WordPress is free software but it seems to get worse with each release.

  9. Just realized that I didn’t take the rebar I was buying at Lowe’s out of the shopping cart. However, checking my receipt I wasn’t charged for it either. No harm, no foul?

    • Bummed that the automatic water control leak wasn’t solved by the caps I bought today. The leak appears to occur prior to the connection. I don’t know if it’s fixable, and now wonder if the freeze in December killed it even though I disconnected it and tried my best to shake out the water.
In hindsight I should have completely disconnected it and brought it indoors.

Wordle in 4 starting with BREAD. Not the day for that start.

When I was out with the puppy, I heard the telltale sounds of large scale logging. Apparently I cleaned up my access trail just in time to access a clear cut. Very bummed, but glad I got a couple of rides in that tract this week.

So not only did I schedule something on our anniversary, I argued with Steve about how many years. He has a memory trick that doesn’t work for me no matter how loudly he repeats it. ???? Happy 17th Anniversary Steve!

Finishing up our taxes today. We once again owe money. I adjusted my withholding up significantly and put 20% in my 401k, so I’m really peeved that didn’t do the trick.

    Happy Good Friday!

    • Bummer about the clear cut.

I got money back from the Fed, and owe slight more to the state. How I owe money when I had $0 in salary, and not a lot in investment dividends baffles me. I looked at the return prepared for me and it is correct. Hating the State Government at the moment.

    • Barb says:

We owe a bunch to the Feds – and a smaller amount to the State. Needed to be sure I had plenty of money in the checking account – that & a decently big AMEX bill (from AZ vacation) are being paid at the same time.
I’ve given up trying to figure out what to have taken out of my paycheck – I’ll just pay estimated taxes every few months.

you can just remember you were married 4 years after us?

  11. Used the lack of rain to take my bike out and wash off all of the muck it picked up on the Silver Comet yesterday.

    • Barb says:

Tammy’s bike is here – Allan is slightly perplexed with her shifting issue – he thinks it might be some user error, and an adjustment.
Its such a small frame – maybe I’ll see if Sal wants to test ride it. 😉

Went I bought eggs from the store for deviled eggs this weekend – price is back to $2.50 or so (no wonder the internet stopped bitching about the price of eggs). The cage free were a few cents cheaper than the “cheap regular” eggs

      • She seemed to have issues yesterday, which may have been the only reason she didn’t crush me again despite my decent ride. Since I couldn’t fix anything I didn’t ask her much about what was going on.

  12. Barb says:

Allan just told me – since you aren’t really working all that hard, come outside & cut the grass!
    It is really nice out.
