2023-06-16

It was a routine Thursday around the ITP Estate. I should have accomplished a shit ton of choring, but did not. I skipped the Thursday night bike ride because I tweaked my knee sometime during the past two days and wanted to give it a rest. Instead I stayed home, ate leftovers, and started my rewatch of the show “Severance”.

Weekend plans don’t exist, and may depend on the sore throat which started last night?

My crusty old calendar is telling me that today is ITP-Reader Jenka’s birthday. It appears that the internet has found its way to Buenos Aires, so if my data is correct (it hasn’t always been) a Happy Birthday to you.

I solved today’s Wordle in four attempts; my starter today was ROUTE. The word I would have started with on Sunday would have gotten me the first four letters properly placed today.

  1. I really thought I had a grand plan for WLF this year. Currently it’s a jungle…

Harvested a zucchini and yellow squash. This makes 2023 my best zucchini / summer squash year ever.

Saw my first partially eaten tomato on the ground, meaning the war is officially on.

And for the first time in awhile I was bitten by an ant. This time it was on the top of my right foot, for I was wearing flip flops, and it still hurts like a motherfucker.

Wordle in 3 starting with world. I have harvested green beans so far. Tomatoes are still green and so far not eaten. But when it happens…I’ll be setting out traps!! Was nice meeting Barb’s sister, Connie, yesterday. Safe travels to Barb and Connie today. Finished the puzzle I started. Decided not to start the other one so I would at least get some sleep. Happy Birthday Jenka. Hope Bob had a good ramble last night. I have wine and food at the boss’s house tonight. She does have a pool….so maybe I’ll take a dip too. Hope y’all have a safe and fun week-end.

  3. Steve says:

Wordle in 3 starting with TREAD

When the phone rings early in the morning, it can never be good news. Good neighbor Steve reported “the horses are out”, and we were like firemen answering a call. Out the door and down the driveway I go, to find another neighbor coming up the driveway in his truck with the same news. At the end of the driveway, I whistle and Phinney and Tanner come running, but turn on Steve’s driveway. Debbie has a bucket of sweet feed at the top of his driveway and nabs Phinney, but Tanner needed a bit more inspiration to join his brother. After all that, now it’s time to find the escape route. All gates secure, but a little section of fence where I used a tree as a post has come undone. It’s secured now.

I kept hoping to ride yesterday, but not even the trainer got any love yesterday. Maybe today is the day.

    HBD Jenka! Enjoy BA.

  4. Everyone is beating me today in Wordle. Good on ya, folks!

  5. David says:

Wordle in 2!!! Starting with BLEAT. I needed that bit of redemption after yesterday’s fail. Mini in 58, Barb, I think you’ll be doing some teeth gnashing.

Assuming that the stomach bug my daughter has doesn’t latch on to me, I’m headed to Knoxville for my 40th high school reunion. This is the first one I’ll have attended. Better late than never! I’m packing a bike, my friend Debra who I first met in 8th grade has a route picked out.

    ¡Cumpleaños Feliz, Jenka!

Oh, and I have my first almost ripe grape tomato. The critters tend to leave them alone, which is part of why I go that route. They were also perfect for my kids to eat off of the plant in their younger days, and will still be perfect in the present day.

    • David says:

I started watching The Minimalists on Netflix. It is exactly what I need to get my decluttering mojo back.

    • Damn, yo!

I never got any notification about a forty year reunion. It’s probably on the Facebooks.

The tiny tomatoes do tend to get ignored, but I fantasize about those larger slicing tomatoes that I can make into sandwiches…

      • David says:

I hear ya. I need to keep my gardening bar set low.

      • Barb says:

Busy day – trying to get packed & out if here this afternoon – but of course I am busy workwise.

        My 40th class reunion is next weekend – 6/23 & 6/24.
Ours was sent over via emails, FB, text messages, maybe even snail mail if that was the only address on the list. (Damn Catholic schools keep pretty good records – trying to get donations – something I will never do)

  6. Harvested some cucumbers today, will be making pickles tomorrow. 😀

  7. Debbie says:

Wordle in 5 starting with BEACH.

I enjoyed catching up on the last couple weeks of blogs! Working at the clinic is not conducive to reading the blog. Now that I’m working Mondays and Tuesdays, I stay straight-up slammed all day which is AWESOME!

Things have been pretty quiet in my world. While Steve was gone I got our kitchen arranged and spotless. Our bedroom is the next frontier. I have sooooo many clothes. I’m motivated by the thought of putting down wood floors. Once I get my clothes under control, we’ll have to move the furniture out to rip up the carpet. A friend of mine has a “guy” and I’m going to see if he can tackle the flooring.

Once our house is in order, we’ll plan to host some rides like the old days – minus the pool unfortunately.

Happy Birthday Jenka! Enjoy your trip.

  8. The Amazon package that was supposed to be delivered today, then delayed to sometime over the weekend, then earlier than promised on yesterday, then to sometime as late as Monday, has just been delivered. Of course I am not home currently, but it appears to be in a decent place given the photo supplied.

  9. Jenka says:

Thanks, Paulie! It is indeed mon cumpleano today! 48 glorious years around the sun. It just happened that this trip got planned over my birthday due to the summer custody schedule, but it worked out because I got to visit Evita’s grave today. Amazing!
