[drivel deleted]

Watch these pig races instead.

I solved today’s Wordle in five attempts; my starter today was RISKY.

Tuesday Tale of the Tape: 198.4 pounds (0.0 from last week’s weigh-in).

  1. Unusually busy morning at the Waschsalon. I’m used to being one of the few here at its opening.

Wordle in 4 starting with TREAD.

Packed and ready to roll to Augusta after work. Schedule is already been adjusted to move races earlier in the morning and combine some of the Para fields. There is no shade whatsoever on this course, It can be brutal in good weather- it could be seriously dangerous in the expected conditions.

One more impressive thing about the NCL race. I went to the mailbox yesterday and my check was waiting for me. Nice.

Cutting the grass with the new fence line bisecting the yard is a bit of a pain. I will be able to use the tractor some, but it will really need the regular mower.

Barb, I thought TC had a “soft opening” at the beginning of the month? What’s this still not open rumor?? I’m in need of a fix.

    • Barb says:

where did you see a soft opening? I haven’t seen anything at all,

    • Jenka says:

      Like a…paper check? Wow.

      • David says:

I still get paid that way sometimes. Total pain in the ass, sometimes takes me weeks to deposit the check electronically. Thankfully enough people that pay me money do so in a modern fashion. 😉 Paper checks end up my being my version of keeping cash under the mattress. It isn’t purposeful, it’s just yet another goddamn task that I’ll get to when I need to.

Wordle in 4 starting with JOUST.

My Sunday night date and I amicably agreed that we’ll continue on our separate paths. I am grateful for the experience as I accumulated a lot of knowledge that will help me on future dates.

  4. Sally says:

The pig races were cute but curious as to the drivel. :). Wordle in 3 starting with games. No mistakes in Connections. Seems like schools just started and they had the day off yesterday. Today??? All play with loud music, games, bouncy houses etc. GUTS run tonight although it’s going to be quite warm. No plans for today. Might get in a ride. Should go to the lake and paddle board around. Probably should cut the grass though.

  5. Laundry complete!

Wanted to support a favorite local restaurant, HomeGrown, only to discover they are closed on Tuesdays. I should have checked first. Now at Carroll Street Cafe, a Place im not sure I have visited previously.

After breakfast I may hit Ace Hardware to kill time until My Friends Bottle Shop opens.

    • Barb says:

      day drinking today?

    • Jenka says:

Have you been to First Watch? It’s right across Memorial from Homegrown.

    • David says:

Do you ever go to Petit Chou on Memorial? It’s one of my favorites. Carroll Street is fine, in my opinion. I am assiduously avoiding First Watch due to its chaininess.

      • Never been to Petit Chou. I tried a couple of times pre-COVID but not since. I also considered Ria’s Bluebird, not having been there since 2020/2021 but they are closed during the week.

        • David says:

My perception of Ria’s has always been that they offer high prices and surly service, so they are persona non grata to me. Petit Chou is my go to when I want to treat myself to breakfast.

          • I liked Ria’s a lot more when Ria was amongst the living. I can’t say that I have eaten there often since.

          • Jenka says:

I did not like Ria’s even when Ria was among the living, for the same reasons as David. I haven’t been there in many years.

          • Oddly Ria’s Menu page on the website is 404. However, from the menu photo I saw on Google Ria’s is cheaper than Carroll Street Cafe. The photo is from a week ago, so I assume it’s still accurate.

I just assume all restaurant food is overpriced these days, at least for what I am looking to spend. The reason I ate breakfast out this morning was because I wanted to go to My Friends Bottle Shop and didn’t want to go home first.

          • David says:

I saw Ria talking to my neighbor at the Grant Park Farmers market 2 or 3 days before she died. It made her death even more shocking.

      • Jenka says:

I still have never been to Petit Chou and I keep wanting to try it! Some day.

        • David says:

Perhaps you and Kevin can meet me there for breakfast one day. I think you’d like it a lot, based upon other places that suit your fancy.

          • Jenka says:

Yeah, breakfast isn’t really our thing, which is one reason why I haven’t made it there yet. Might manage to get there for dinner sometime.

          • David says:

Man, you are a tough crowd! 🙂 Their dinners are good too. It makes for a nice date night. I go for lunch sometimes, they have an amazing roast beef sandwich.

  6. I walked most of Stan’s trail last night, losing it and shortcutting to the beer stop at his house. After saying a couple of hellos I quickly turned on heel and went home.

  7. Barb says:

Connections was harder today – but – I got it eventually.
Wordle in 4 using Paulie’s word.

I had a headache last night so we did not go to the Moonlight hash.
We’ve been watching a show I thought was on Prime, but its actually on Freevee – called Almost Paradise. Its a former DEA agent that moved to an island in the Philippines to relax, but keeps getting involved in stuff. Not going to win any Emmys, but entertaining enough.

    • Agreed an out Connections. I got two quickly and waffles on the other two. I wouldn’t have scored full marks because I never figured out how the last grouping I identified were connected, they just happened to be the four tiles remaining.

My Wordle was five and not four because I had to play a strange word fourth to ensure my ultimate success.

    • Jenka says:

I only got two of the Connections today. Total fail on the other two.

  8. Jenka says:

    Dammit! I want drivel!

I have nothing to report. We watched season 3 of Barry last night and ate salads.

  9. Still bummed I didn’t get to eat at Home Grown, However, breakfast — 2 eggs, 2 veggie sausage, some potatoes, and a bagel — was quite tasty. Lunch will be yet another tomato sandwich with some potatoes I boiled the other day.

  10. A hawk just flew out of WLF with something in its talons! Looks much smaller than a cat, so I assuming it was rat, squirrel, or perhaps chipmunk.

  11. And, I just failed to qualify for another paid survey with a different company. Of course I answered all of their questions prior to being booted, so they got that for free.

It may be time to stop trying to get into these altogether.

  12. Weather forecast now showing up to 50% chance of rain this afternoon. While it may cool things off, and WLF would appreciate it, I hope the forecast is wrong so that I can ride tonight.

  13. Feeling guilty that I didn’t water WLF this morning. Higher water bills, plus I watered yesterday are my reasons. I will crank up the sprinklers tomorrow before it gets too hot.
