Sometimes I have bad luck, and sometimes I am dumb. In my travels yesterday I went to Ollie’s on Buford Highway. I purchased along with other things, a jigsaw puzzle for $5. While I was sitting in the bar with Hank yesterday I received an email from Ollie’s to receive 15% off my next purchase; this is bad luck since I just made a purchase. When I returned home I discovered that I purchased a second copy of the same jigsaw puzzle; this is me being dumb since I couldn’t recall which puzzle I had purchased previously. Yes, I could return the puzzle, hell I could return and repurchase everything (except the jigsaw puzzle obviously) to get my 15% discount, but Ollie’s is far enough away to where I may spend more in gas returning than I would save.

Unlike many months recently I have been chowing down on meat in October. Yesterday I ate chicken wings, and ground pork at lunch. And then, I returned home to eat sweet and sour chicken for dinner. I have no regrets for either meal because it was all delicious.

Dangen, some of my favorite British game shows on YouTube are being blocked by the content owners. If there were a way to watch this content legally I’d be doing that, but the shortsightedness of network suits has driven me to YouTube to watch them. Sadly however, ability to watch these showed which helped me get through the rough times of the pandemic has been squashed.

I solved today’s Wordle in four attempts; my starter today was BLAST.

Connections: no hiccups today, Yellow > Blue > Green > Purple

  1. Ugh, I just went into the kitchen and discovered that I forgot to put away the uneaten sweet and sour chicken. Oh well, so much for that leftover lunch today… I hate wasting food.

  2. Sally says:

I am sure the sweet and sour chicken would be fine. Just heat it up. I wouldn’t waste it. I have Mia and Emma thru Sunday. Nice to have a couple of furry friends around for the week-end. Placed 3rd at Trivia last night. Group run in the morning with HOKA and Sublime Donuts!
Planning on doing the Wheelhopper on Sunday even though it’s an urban assault. I have a couple of landscaping items to give to Stan.
Wordle in 3 starting with REACH. No mistakes in Connections. I tried the NY mini to see what that was about. I’m not fast on the key board. 1.5 minutes.
Safe travels to BOB and I hope the wedding is a lot of fun. Congrats to Evan. Hope to see him again next June.

Wordle in 5, I had the last 2 letters in 2 and had to grind out the rest. Abandoned Connections. I have enough pain in my life.

    • Barb says:

      Wordle in 3 –
Connections – got yellow & green, then no patience, just started clicking to be done & see the answers.
Mini – should have been less than a minute – but as usual, I can’t type.

  4. Barb says:

I attempted to help Sal’s trivia friends last night – but there was no way to even come close to the top 2 teams. So – 3rd place was a great finish.

Might go to DAS BBQ tonight to see Brewery Road – if I decide I want to go into town on a Friday night. I know parking around there STINKS, so if Allan will let me hitch a ride in his official City of Atlanta paramedic truck, maybe I’ll meet up with him to go. He has to eat dinner – right?

Then I’m trying to figure out a plan (aka mainly parking) for Oakhurst PorchFest tomorrow, its something we’ve never attended, so figure it could be a fun way to spend the afternoon. Weather is supposed to be nice. I think I’ve talked Kevin into joining us.

Sunday I think I’ll skip the Wheelhopper – I’m not really interested in going into to town to do a glorified pub crawl. I’m thinking a hike somewhere – I think I’ve talked Paulie & Kevin into that idea.
Then Sunday evening – since Sal is always so busy this birthday month – maybe Paulie & I will start watching Survivor, and Sal will have to catch up on CBS.com.

    • Hiking followed by Survivor is a definite for me. Porchfest attendance will be dictated by my back pain which has persisted through this morning.

      • Barb says:

well – I pretty much always have back pain, so….. if I use that excuse I’d never do anything,
We will park wherever on Saturday – walk with a small cooler & our camping chairs. I cannot stand all day (reference back to the back pain)

Not sure where to hike on Sunday -gotta think on that.

    • David says:

Holler at me if you go, I’d walk up and meet y’all.

  5. Jenka says:

My new nanny is a damn trooper. She has a fractured ankle and she got her partner to drive and even took Finn to school this morning. Amazing.

I have nothing to report. Busy day at work today so I haven’t attempted Wordle or Connections yet. The only plan we have this weekend is to get mani-pedis. Dinner with friends at Ruby Chow tonight, I’ve never been there so I’m excited.

  6. Look at me spending money like I’ve got it. I just booked an hour long massage for this afternoon.

    • Barb says:

massages are well worth the money.
I have ours finally set up for 10/26 – I’m counting down the days.

      • If I had my shit together this morning I’d be getting one at 10am. However I was able to book at 3pm, which gives me time to organize.

      • David says:

I completely second what Barb said. I wouldn’t be anywhere near as far along as I am without a consistent body work regimen. It’s all connected.

        • Today is a trial run, and if I am satisfied with the masseuse and place, I might spring for a package, in which you get six visits for the price of five.

What is tipping protocol for masseuses? It’s been many years since I’ve gotten a massage.

          • David says:

I always tip at least 20%, sometimes 25% if I have a particularly righteous massage. I hope it goes well! This is some excellent self-care.

I finally got around to trying Utopia on Boulevard by the fire station. A one hour massage is as little as $55. You don’t get to pick the person, but I took my daughter recently because she needed to decompress and she loved it. For that price you pick two from feet, back, or shoulders. If you do feet and back then you get a pretty decent almost full body massage for a great price. I’ll be going back. They also run some specials where if you get someone to go with you the price drops to like $40/person on certain days.

          • Barb says:

            I might come into town for a $40 deal…….

          • David says:

Barb, https://utopiaatlanta.com/ They run that deal on Mondays. It’s 3 blocks away from me if you ever need a second person. 😉

  7. Steve says:

    Wordle in 3!

Day 2 of setup is slow, but growing. Trailers moved and misc stuff done.

Yesterday we spread $600 of seed and today Debbie is dragging it in. Hope it takes. The wind made it a bit of a challenge.

  8. Found another great use for my air fryer — heating frozen steak fries. This can’t be an everyday affair because they pack a hell of a calorie punch, but daaaaamn they were good.

    • Barb says:

I’m working on making Shepherd’s pie – it may or may not be something for dinner Sunday. I had mashed potatoes that needed to be eaten or used for something else. I decided on the something else.

  9. I hope that this massage kickstarts my road to wellness because I am tired of feeling lousy.

  10. Debbie says:

Wordle in 4 starting with FLARE.

I put down more seed in the mist this morning and got started on dragging before I had to stop to get a haircut. I’m going to try to sort out our truck financing issue and then get back on the tractor. It’s lightly raining, but I’m unlikely to melt. I also need to get a ride in and Phinney is sure he will melt so that should be entertaining.

Quick trip to the grocery after my haircut. Why is it so expensive to eat?? I bought enough things to keep Steve fed before he moves up to Stone Mountain on Wednesday. I’m going up on Thursday and coming back Saturday afternoon.

All this talk of massage is making me jealous. I got the number of someone my chiro uses. Maybe I can get on her schedule next week. I suspect a regular routine of massages would sort out some of my body issues.

Hunting locally tomorrow and then off to the Georgia State Fair in Perry with some girlfriends. I’ve never been but have heard great things.
