I had half of a really good day yesterday, spending the morning choring in WLF. I burned some branches, cleared more grass and weeds, and continued to clean up. And then, after lunch the hammer fell and I started sneezing violently and had a runny nose. I popped an allergy pill to no avail, and, combined with the news that my healthcare plan is going up $300/month if I don’t find a new (and let’s be honest, worse) plan, my day and night were ruined. Unfortunately I have awoken with a stuffed up nose. I can only hope that things get better today.
Halloween is but a week away? Wow.
I believe it was Confucius who said “He who struggles with Connections will triumph at Wordle, and vice versa”
I solved today’s Wordle in five attempts; my starter today was IMPEL.
Connections: perfect, Green > Yellow > Purple > Blue
Tuesday Tale of the Tape: still not brave enough to return to weighing myself.
Wordle in 5, no misses in Connections.
As of today I am the father of a 16 year old girl. As a formerly avowed “hell no, I don’t want kids” person, I’ll just say parenting is what you make of it. My kids have absolutely saved me from myself.
Happy birthday to your designated driver, I mean, daughter. 🙂
Thank you! And yes, I have been taking advantage of that “service”for about a year now. 🙂
tell Rachel happy birthday!!!
I’ll tell her!
I’ve always said that having kids made Kevin into a decent human being. When he was in his 20s he was a total jackass, but having kids, especially a special needs kid, gave him compassion, patience, and a bunch of other good qualities.
I can attest to being a total jackass in my 20s AND 30s…I was 42 when Rachel was born.
Happy birthday to the kiddo! Or should I say young adult now 🙂
Thanks, Bob, she’s 16 going on 26. It’s wild.
Well that was interesting. The power went out for about twenty seconds, then there was a loud thump from somewhere in the distance, and it returned.
Being sick also completely interferes with any effort I can make toward losing weight. It’s a goddamn vicious cycle.
I’ve been meaning to tell you – we are doing that Flu shot vaccine trial again. Made $600+ to answer some questions on a phone app all year – with a 5 minute phone call every month or so. Call 770-771-6151 is you want to play along. (you have to be 50+ and go to Norcross office to get the shot.) After that, just answer questions on the app.
I haven’t even checked my options on healthcare yet. I always dread open enrollment. Wordle in 6 starting with GLAZE. Yellow, purple, green, blue on Connections. It was such a beautiful day to be outside yesterday. Today will be house chores. I did manage to find time yesterday to cut and trim the yard yesterday. GUTS Tuesday night run.
I also need to test my creek this morning. I could do without all the JORO spiders that have taken up residence along the creek. Taking a big stick with me.
Mornin ITPers!
Finally back from Florida, driving home on a Monday is the way to go. Traffic was a breeze.
What a week that was, started every morning with a run to a landfill then work all day then back to the house to load up the truck again. I was beat by the end of the week.
It all ended well though, we accomplished what we needed to do and convinced the step mom to move finally. She is still not happy about it but it gets them out of the house and gives her a year to find something she thinks she wants (but will never find).
I am also the owner of a 2002 Nissan Altima that needs a ton of work. It will be a fun project for me and Travis to get ready for his birthday in April.
Fun project……. not sure I’d call that fun. 😉
Where did you find the car? Sounds like a good one for Travis to have for high school.
Step mothers car, she can’t drive anymore so gave it to Travis. I towed it home from Orlando.
towed it home….. good times!
Actually it was easier than towing the camper.
The sticker on the car carrier says don’t exceed 55MPH it did just fine at 70+ all the way home. And since it is more aerodynamic than a camper I got decent gas mileage too.
Look at you Bob, ignoring the safety warning. Glad there were no problems.
That could have made for an interesting Instagram crash video had things not gone as expected. 😉 Kudos on prevailing over all of the challenges.
I’m so glad your stepmom finally (grudgingly) agreed!
Wordle in five.
We got the games back in the box yesterday by 6 PM. It was a long ass day. We had a good crew, but getting a late start Sunday was our downfall.
Today is just rest and relaxation day for me. I have always taken it off as I don’t know if I’ll be needed on the field for any remaining issues.
Hopefully I’ll get out on my scooter in a little while. Maybe even a bike ride.

The big dinner last night went great and, most importantly, I was home by 8:00. Today is a long day of meetings which fortunately end at normal end of day, then I’m going to my friend Sarah’s house for dinner.
This morning I left my house at 7:15 and as the light turned green for me at the intersection of North Ave and N. Highland (right at Buddy’s) the power went out. As far as I could tell it was out for all of Candler Park, Poncey-Highland, and Virginia-Highland. It was fun trying to cross Ponce. Pretty sure it’s back on now but driving through Atlanta in the pitch black is not fun.
power outages are always entertaining while driving………
Perhaps for the first time in 45 years I have a need for a small bottle of paint, such as Testor’s model paint. Where does one purchase such a thing? Do hobby shops still exist? Hobby Lobby? Ace Hardware? I only need a single, small bottle to make marks on planter trays, so I am certain that Home Depot nor Lowe’s are not the answer.
go to Michael’s over Hobby Lobby (Hobby Lobby is a crazy Christian owned place, they don’t allow their health insurance to cover for birth control)
– but either should have what you need. Doubtful on Ace, but I have no idea.
What Barb said.
I generally avoid HL for that reason, unless they are the only option.
Try the paint counter at Home Depot, they have small containers for color samples. If I recall correctly they are pretty cheap.
This.
Will do.
Although a craft store such as Michael’s is probably going to have some sort of pen that might be easier to use.
paint pen – thats a great idea
Can you use a Sharpie? They make them in varying colors, such as silver.
Considered that. The trays are black, so I’d need silver or white? With paint I could use many, almost any, color.
The praying mantis who has been keeping me company for the past few days has finally met its maker. Currently it is now lying on my deck.
Finally off the couch. Far from 100% but I have shit to get done today so I’m trying. Doubt there will be a bike ride in my future tonight.
Need to get my garlic into the ground this week, so be preparation is a must.
I was thinking about growing some garlic – but I just don’t think I’m going to bother with it. Especially since my tomatoes haven’t died yet – I still have plenty of tomatoes growing, I don’t have a good open spot.
Yeah, I have a second round of volunteer tomato plants. Wonder if they will set fruit that ripens before a frost. It may be difficult since with the sun being lower in the sky they get far less sunshine than they would have a month or so ago
I need for the trees to drop their leaves so I can get more sunshine into WLF again.
