And *poof* the day was gone! I did all of my laundry in the morning, and a mediocre hour on the trainer yesterday afternoon, but little else yesterday.

After falling asleep on the futon watching tv I slept poorly last night. I wish that I could remain in bed all day, but I have an HVAC guy coming out in the 8:00-12:00 window to perform routine maintenance. Given how cold it’s been this week I definitely want the heater to function efficiently.

Wordle: five, my starter was GROAN. I am an unhappy Wordler, because I have not gotten a low score in many days.
Connections: perfect, Green > Blue > Purple > Yellow. Very happy about the Blue grouping today.

1st for the first time ever! That’s what a 7 am flight will do for you.

Wordle in 3 starting with FLARE. One mistake in Connections – Blue, Green, Yellow, Purple

I for through security in 26 minutes, but they brought the K9 in about 30 people behind me so I’m sure that added significant time for those behind me. I feel like the airport was a giant petrie dish of germs – lots of coughing, sneezing and the like. I tossed back two doses of EmergenC before I left and brought some with me. Several people at work are sick, too. I’ll be lucky to escape it.

Wish my luck horse shopping! It’s going to be some chilly riding, but if they’re good in these temps, it bodes well for their suitability. I think there will be 5-6 to try so that increases the odds of finding one I like.

  2. Debbie says:

Oh and I did immediately think of you for the Blue category hat tip.

  3. Steve says:

Holy $hit, how did Debbie get in first!! Oh yeah… thanks, honey for not waking me up much.

Wordle in 3 starting with AISLE. Connections with one mistake- and hat tip to WLB!

Not much to report. We fired up the heating pad to keep the kitties warm- I hope it didn’t auto shutoff. We literally drug them to it. Well one of them- Smudge headed for the back of the hay bales and would not come out.

23 leaving the house this morning… cccccold.

A little chilly this morning. Got a lot done yesterday. Decided to hike last night instead of run and then Slim and I went out to eat on the Square. It was a zoo. Marietta parking situation sucks.

Wordle in 5 starting with SPRAY. One mistake in Connections. My first guess at a grouping apparently had one word from each of the 4 groups. lol. Yellow, green, blue, purple. Sorry Wee…blue was third.

Working all day and then the Sip and Stride tonight at the store. If you need anything, everything in the store will be 15% off tonight. After work I get to pick up a dog for the week-end, Whiskey. She’s pretty easy but stubborn.

    • We need to figure out a new a for when you guess one from each of the four groupings. Lol

    • Barb says:

      yellow, green, blue, purple.
And – I as Sal did, got the 1st line 1 of each category today.

And – Wordle in 3 with Paulie’s word GROAN.
a good 2nd guess – sort of using Debbie’s word, then a lucky guess for #3.

      • Damn, my Wordle game is weak!

      • Jenka says:

Wordle in 4 using FLARE, but my second and third guesses both were missing the second and last letters. Do you know how many words fit with those letters? A lot.

Connections perfect! Blue (you all gave that one away) > yellow > green > purple. I never would’ve gotten purple in a million years.

  5. Technician is on the way. Looking forward to spending some time on the trainer today to get exercise and watch “The Amazing Race”.

  6. David says:

Y’all are too kind to scrape the bottom with me regarding Wordle in 5. I can’t remember the last time I had a miss with Connections. Oh, today was my 600th Wordle. That and $5 is going to cover Starbucks for me this morning.

    Fellini’s for dinner last night.

Yesterday I thankfully got my head back into my book that I’m writing. It felt amazing to be cranking out some words again, and I’m grateful for the long leash my publisher has me on.

    • I don’t seem to see eye to eye with Wordle lately. According to the app today way my 660th game.

Good on ya! Hoping to start getting back into coding soon. Time in Florida will be without internet, so that might get me to start reading books again. So much to do…

      • Barb says:

did you never figure out how to use your phone as a hotspot?

          • Barb says:

My parents Wifi isn’t that great (they shouldn’t even be paying for it, but I use it – sooooo)
It occasionally cuts out – so I use my hotspot to be able to keep working when I’m there.
            It really works well.
My plan has enough gigs that It is fine to use here & there with no extra charges. You really should look into it.

      • David says:

Thanks, Paulie! Good luck on breaking the coding inertia. I’ve been using ChatGPT more and more these days, you might use it to create some starter code for you to get past the blank screen. For one, I’m wondering what the hell am I doing writing a book given that ChatGPT exists. There’s still value in it for me, and it greatly benefits my other lines of business. I am finding it super helpful though to kick start writing, especially when I am not feeling inspired. It sometimes teaches me a little Excel trivia that I didn’t know, but mostly it gets me past the blank page.

  7. Barb says:

Yesterday was a long day after getting up at 0400am for the flight home.

Went to a wine tasting for Annette’s wine club at the Smyrna Vineyards Wine Market. (Sal was right, Smyrna has LOTS of lights around the city center).
Tasting was 8 wines, and you needed to pick from that assortment for the monthly wine Club selection. They were all nice wines in the $20-$30 range. Hope Annette likes what we picked. They do have food there, so we had a flatbread pizza, it was ok, but nothing I’d go back for.

Got home about 9pm, I went to bed & was asleep by 10pm. I feel better today

  8. Jenka says:

Finn wanted crab legs so we went to Six Feet last night. Sometime within the past year or so they added clam chowder to their menu and boy howdy is it delicious! Now, I did not detect a single clam in last night’s bowl of soup, but it did have crab meat or possibly lobster. It still tasted great.

We have one wall of countertops! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

The sink is installed but they can’t plumb it until the backsplash goes in.

  9. HVAC didn’t pass with flying colors, but the issue which does not seem to be causing any problems (a humidity sensor) will be kicked down the road until spring when the AC is checked.

  10. Reclaimed most of my dining room table by returning items to the pantry. After having them all in sight for a few weeks I realize now what I have, what I want to eat, and most importantly, what I don’t need to buy for a long time. In the long run I will save money by cooking more at home using items that are already here.

  11. Oh yeah, Barb. When I went to my local Aldi the other day they had none of the cool Christmas shit you bought, and I doubt they ever got it because my local Aldi is such a ghetto Aldi, meant in the nicest way of course…

  12. Steve says:

The eagle has landed and fought the good fight to get a rental car. Apparently, renting through the Delta app is no guarantee that a car will actually be available. Avis thinks a LOT of their cars. It was Alamo FTW- Debbie “Do you have any cars that won’t cost me an arm and a leg?” Alamo- “How about just a few fingers?”

    • As Seinfeld said “You know how to take the reservation, but you don’t know how to keep the reservation.”

    • Barb says:

my Avis rental (not thru Delta app) went just fine in CR – I got a bigger car than I expected – a Kia Sportage. Price wasn’t any better or worse than the others (yes, I did price shop it) Pricing is crazy – my rental was $500 for a week – there are so many extra charges after the daily or weekly rate.

    • Jenka says:

Yes, some companies do not hold cars for each reservation, and you gotta know which ones. Enterprise and Hertz will guarantee a car. Avis? Not so much.

    • David says:

No issues with Hertz in Phoenix. “Pick any car you want from the Gold section”.

    • Haven’t rented a car in over four years, so I have no current input about this. Don’t look know but we are three months away from our four-year COVIDversary (Coronaversary?).

  13. I have just eaten an amazing homemade lunch! I made a ramen soup using a packet of French onion soup mix, a packet of dried ramen, a green bell pepper, chili pepper, and Asian greens; the vegetables were out of WLF.

  14. Barb says:

I went to the Jerusalem Bakery with Davey & Slim – had some chicken shawarma.
The luck special is a decent size wrap, a side (I always get hummus, its tasty!) and a drink for $12 ish.

We were going to meet at a Upside deal place near there – but the google said it was closed today. We weren’t risking it – we will try it another day.

    • Everyone is getting some Slim time! I like Slim a lot, think he’s a good guy.

I haven’t tried a restaurant Upside since once again getting gypped of my 27% discount at Tin Drum in Dunwoody.

      • Barb says:

Davey & I talked about Upside – they have a few glitches – like only a certain amount of discounts a day – then it won’t work

  15. David says:

The goddamn bridge over Cheshire Bridge caught fire AGAIN. Motherfuckers, talk about literally setting our tax dollars on fire….Christ.
