Once again not much to mention from yesterday. It was the Raleigh Royalty’s eldest son’s eighteenth birthday. It was also the Winter Solstice nope, the solstice is today. Oh, and I did an hour on the trainer while watching soccer.

Today I will be signing up for full BRAG. Of course I will hope that my body will cooperate in June. I will wait to commit to the bus ride until January 1st when the route is announced.

Wordle: three, my starter was NUDGE
Connections: perfect, Purple > Green > Yellow > Blue

Wordle in , no misses on Connections.

I met my friend Stuart at a quirky place called Tuza Tacos on Howell Mill. There’ a little bit of parking in front, most of the parking is behind the building. You have to around back to order, and then there’s indoor and outdoor seating. The food was good and is served fast. I had a great, albeit small, margarita.

Minty had tickets to the light show at the zoo, so I called her to see if she was in the neighborhood still. Turns out they were at Fellini’s on Howell Mill, so I popped in and had a beer with them.

Tomorrow night I shall he venturing into hinterlands, specifically that bar and restaurant scene known as Canton Street in Roswell to hang out with my friend Rachel (not to be confused with my daughter Rachel). I am looking forward to it.

It is starting to get light out incrementally earlier.

  2. Wordle in ZERO? Inconceivable!!! Or, did you get an ace and do not wish to boast?

I will relish the increasing daylight.

Was feeling like I didn’t want to eat food that was in my house last night, so found a friend & went to Anchor Bar up near Town Center mall. Wings were good, they were supposed to be medium, I think we got naked. Our waitress had too many tables, was doing the best she could, so we didn’t even say anything. They were pretty tasty, just no spice. Trivia started, interesting format. We weren’t staying very long, so didn’t officially play, but the first questions we were doing ok. Could tell too many ringer large groups so I’d never go play there.

    Wordle in 4,
    Yellow, green, purple, blue.
I almost failed, I had no idea the 4th word in the purple category, so I just kept guessing.

  4. Sally says:

Wordle. in 4 starting with CLOUD. Perfect connections in order, green, yellow, blue, purple. One word in Purple is perplexing, to me anyways.

Long day yesterday. 9:30-8. Today, another long one dealing with last minute shoppers. Also dog sitting Whiskey.

I hope you find a good parking spot David. Roswell will be a zoo.

  5. Bob says:

Wordle in 4, swing and a miss on connections 🙁

Christmas ramble tonight, got my bike all lit up. Looks like it won’t be too cold this year either. Good times will be had.

  6. Excepting foot pains I have felt really good (physically) this week. Until, this morning when I woke up with a runny nose and sneezing. I don’t think that I am “sick”, perhaps I am allergic to Betsy? (kidding) Don’t know. However I have popped an allergy pill to see if I can at least stop my nose from running.

  7. I have started reading the 2016 book “Hillbilly Elegy” and have an uncanny feeling that I have either read, or started to read, this book once before? I also think that I remember Raleigh Royalty Lisa recommending that I read it some years ago.

  8. Barb says:

BTW Paulie & Sal – I decided to watch Survivor – since I don’t see when we could get together until after the new year with all of our schedules.
I really wanted to see who won.

    • Sally says:

Well dang. I thought you had Saturday open? I’ll try to watch it tonight so I don’t get any spoilers. :).

      • I’m pretty sure I can remain spoiler free since I watch no network television, and barely access the internet other than this space, Amazon, or one of the many seed/gardening sites I visit. Heck, the only spoilers I’ve seen for “The Amazing Race” were the commercials for it they showed while we were catching up on “Survivor”. 🙂

      • Barb says:

I figured you’d get a better offer Saturday Sal.
I need to take the In-laws to the airport in the afternoon too.
And – I just decided I was curious how it would play out & who would win.

Wordle in 5, Conniptions just barely. I’m concerned about some of their answers today as well.

I’ve already heard from the horse shopping expedition. She was on the way to the Amish tack store- “with a wad of cash”. God, help me. I didn’t think they took credit cards. One horse from yesterday is still on the list of possibles. Might extend the trip another day to head down to VA to look at a couple- if they are able to be shown.

Stopped at my sisters house yesterday to chat with her and drop off presents for her grands. They have mostly “aged out” but 3 are still 18 or under. If you’re earning a wage, Christmas is on you!

I was pretty much a slug last night- watching an NCIS marathon and going to bed early.

    • I doubt I would have solved the blue category today, but I am fine with the rest of them.

Steve, you just got a bonus, what did you expect? 😉 I’ve had some fairly expensive hobbies in my life but I think the “horse people” beat me hands down. Well, perhaps not since my current hobby, unemployment, has cost me a shitload of money.

    • Barb says:

with a wad of cash – did Debbie read the disclaimers when checking in to fly? don’t get busted with all that cash 😉

  10. Amazon did something weird different with my current order. I have a delivery scheduled to arrive “before 10pm” today (hoping that they didn’t ship USPS because then it will be held with my mail…. long story), but Amazon asked me if I’d rather they’d ship it to a pick up location and I go and get it there? Um, no, especially not at this time of year thank you.

You all are busy this morning!

We have a tradition with our friends Sarah and Elayne that we go to a fancy dinner when any of the 4 of us has a birthday. It was Elayne’s birthday this week so we went to Kevin Rathbun Steak last night. We like to sit in the bar area which is first come, first served, so we got there at 5:00 pm right when they opened and were home by 8:00. I am fine with that! We watched another episode of The Amazing Race.

I made it to work so fast this morning! And got a spot right outside the building, usually I have to park in the parking garage about a quarter of a mile away. What a great day!

The tile guy came this morning, he is doing prep work to tile the bathroom. I chose to have the whole bathroom tiled so it’s easier to clean. My contractor says it will take him 5 days to prep and tile.

  12. Barb says:

Trying to get the SEATED app to apply the 21% cash back from my dinner last night – I used the card on file – but it isn’t showing up. May have to upload my receipt -waiting for the next message back. I saved the receipt for this very purpose). Upside says processing. If I get both rewards – $10 or so from Seated & $6 from Upside – that will be awesome

    • Fingers crossed. Haven’t signed up for Seated, and Upside is always a crapshoot even with a receipt. The two times I have been screwed out of 27% off at Tin Drum Upside replied “Sorry, we can’t find the transaction so we can’t give you the money” even though I had a receipt. Somehow Dosh is always spot on, but doesn’t give a kickback at enough places.

      • Barb says:

Dosh doesn’t have many restaurants – I don’t see much on it that I can ever use. I can send you a link for Seated – get extra money on the 1st transaction

  13. Jenka says:

Connections with one mistake: yellow > green > purple > blue. WTF on the BLUE?! It doesn’t even make sense?!

Wordle in 4 using Paulie’s word.

  14. Allergy medicine not helping, hoping getting out for a walk in a little while will do the trick. Really sucks because I have been feeling well, and that was pleasing me.

  15. David says:

Major decluttering accomplished today, including 30+ year old income tax returns. I think I’m a bit beyond the statute of limitations on those. My office feels *so* much lighter now. I have had perpetual stacks of paper for years that are now a distant memory. So long, motherfuckers!

    • Steve says:

Did you shred? I’m sure we have a little of that laying around, but have never had a need to invest in a shredder. A match also works!!

      • David says:

I boxed it up to take to Charm to have them shred it. All of my fireplaces are gas, otherwise I’d be having some fun with fire.

      • Barb says:

we have a shredder – every once in a while I look into my file cabinet & grab a file & start shredding. I need to do more of it.

  16. Jenka says:

Officially done with work until 8 January 2024! Woo hoooooooooo!

I have re-located to Moe’s & Joe’s for a drink before picking the dog up from doggie daycare. Because vacation.
