Brrr, fucking, brrr.

While I was working another jigsaw puzzle the ITP Estate suffered brief power outage last night. I remembered that for the ill-fated Black Rock campout in 2022, my last hash campout, I bought a portable heater which is safe for indoor use. I put on a headlamp and retrieved it from the basement in case the power outage lasted for a while. Fortunately its services were not required.

I am not looking forward to next month’s electric and gas bills. Oh well, it’s why I work. Oops, wait a minute…

Stay warm friends,

Wordle: four, my starter was DECAF
Connections: perfect, Purple > Yellow > Green > Blue

I am on a word game hiatus.

  2. I am thankful for the blankets that I own for they are keeping me nice and toasty as I attempt to use less energy to heat the house while reading this morning.

    • Barb says:

my weighted blanket is PERFECT for cold weather – its actually way too warm some of the time (or maybe its my crazy internal body temperature that likes to change)
We keep the house at 68 – I have a little space heater that I have by my desk.

I moved it out to the garage bathroom- I don’t want those pipes to freeze

      • Sally says:

I keep the house at 68 if I’m home. Lower when I’m gone. I put it down to 58 at night for sleeping and sometimes open the window.
I like it cold. I got my miles in this morning so I’m good to go for the day.

      • Jenka says:

We keep our house at 64 all the time, because we are pretty sure it uses just as much energy to bring the heat up after turning it down. But this morning I did punch it up to 65.

  3. Sally says:

Don’t forget you also need the heat so your pipes don’t freeze! :). Take it anyway you want. hahahaha

Wordle in 4 starting with BIRTH. 3 mistakes in Connections. Took me awhile to see any connections. Purple, Green, Blue, Yellow

It was a cold run last night at the mountain. It was the wind that made it bad. Plenty of deer wandering around. They should huddle up and stay warm. I need to get my mile in for Frozen Feet this morning as I have a GUTS Board meeting tonight after work and won’t have time to get it in later.

    • One of the assets of the ITP Estate is that the pipes are underground and internal to the house, so that as long as I keep the heat on well above freezing, I shouldn’t have to worry too much.

Good luck getting your mileage. I’m am always impressed by your will to get exercise. *clap*

One of the benefits of being part of the HOA board is I now get to worry about 2 houses 🙂 I spent part of the day Sunday shutting off the water and preparing our clubhouse for the freeze. When I walked in it was 38 degrees in there, looks like our 20 year old HVAC system is done. I hoped it would last another year but now I get to drop 8 or 10 grand on replacement. If the pool/clubhouse/tennis courts keep sucking away our money we may have to raise our dues. Which is a very unpopular message to send 🙁

Stay warm everybody, this cold is supposed to be here all week!

    Wordle in 3, Connipitions fail!

50 degrees in the house! No emergency head out of the heat pump. Our friend and HVAC guy made some suggestions last night which were unsuccessful. We gave the barn cats a space heater to use last night which we are about to reclaim. Lost power overnight a couple times. Only got out of bed when the power came back on and I knew I could shower- no power, no water. For some reason, management decided today (our anchor day) could be WFH. My boss didn’t tell my partner Sam, who asked me why I wasn’t in the office!! Hmmmm

45 minutes on the trainer last night. The streak continues.

Brrr! My car said 14 degrees when I got into it at 8:00 am this morning. It’s not fun but I will take this over 95 degrees and 100 percent humidity any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

We went to Sotto Sotto for dinner last night — usually on a Tuesday it’s nice and quiet, but for some reason last night it was jam packed completely! We had to sit out on the heated patio. I, of course, was wearing 4 layers so I was fine, but Kevin was wearing a short-sleeved polo and he was cold. We asked the server and he had no idea why it was so busy on a Tuesday.

No work at the house yesterday or today. They are supposed to install the rest of the countertops and the backsplash tomorrow and Friday.

    Wordle in 2 using TRACE
    Complete fail on connections

Funny to go from such a high to such a low

  8. If my body will allow, I will mount the trainer this afternoon for the first time in too long, if for no other reason than to generate some extra body heat.

  9. Steve says:

The space heater is now in the living room and I have on fingerless gloves to work! The kittehs were not anywhere near the heater, as it wasn’t on after the power went off. Currently 60… hopefully the heat pump will find a little heat outside and bring it inside.

    • Barb says:

Allan found our 2nd space heater – so the laundry room in the garage now has some warmth too.
Steve- maybe you should have gone to the office??

  10. Barb says:

    Wordle – 5

How you guys got purple is beyond me
