Even though I was not raised by “outdoorsy” parents, I have always wondered why hiking never entered in to my life until my thirties. And then this week I looked for hiking trails in the greater Clearwater, Florida area and understood — nothing of note. What cycling/walking trails exist in the area today did not forty years ago, they were railroad tracks then.

Welcome to my world, T-Mobile 5G Home Internet. I realize that you come with a $60/month cost, but it’s very possible you will replace AT&T at the ITP Estate when the Florida house is sold. I was a little surprised how busy the T-Mobile store at the intersection of Scott and North Decatur was yesterday, given how slow the store at the mall was on Monday, until I found out it was “T-Mobile Tuesday” on which they give something to their customers for free. Yesterday appeared to be some sort of wire-bound notebook. No, I didn’t get a free book yesterday.

I failed to get on my trainer yesterday, but salvaged some exercise by getting out for a three-mile walk around the neighborhood in the afternoon.

Wordle: four, my starter was LAUGH
Connections: perfect, Yellow > Green > Blue > Purple

AirBNB is sticking by their policy of screwing me on the Malibu rental, so I have deleter my account. Since this was a business trip, the rental fee shall be deemed a business expense on my end. My client snd I have exchanged a series of mutually acceptable dates for rescheduling. If this gets rebooked, I’m going to look at hitting Yosemite. I’ve done the Pacific coast beaches before, and after this rough and tumble experience I am loathe to try to find acceptable beach accommodations. I burned too many hours on that already. Yosemite is definitely on my bucket list.

I haven’t had the energy to play word games in the morning any more. I sporadically do Wordle and Connections in the evening now.

    • Bummer, and AirBnB will continue to lose business based on their policies. Hopefully the rebooking will wipe out the negative taste left by AirBnB.

      • David says:

I’m already moving on, and plotting out Yosemite is helping a ton. I’m sure I’ll be able to make it over to Santa Monica for a couple of hours to get my feet in the ocean, but the discretionary part of my rebooking is definitely going to involve Yosemite.

    • Sally says:

Sorry about your AirBNB woes. But on the bright side…Yosemite is breathtaking! You really should go visit. Wish you would go back to word games. Your commentary is always entertaining. :).

      • David says:

Thank you, Sally. The AirBNB fiasco is a lesson learned, and an object lesson in not getting too starry eyed by shiny things in life. Thank you for the kind words about my Wordling observations, I’m sure I’ll get back to it at some point. It’s a headspace issue at present.

Separately, Lucas needs to have his feet scanned by your computer. Are you working Saturday?

    • Jenka says:

I do the games when I feel like it, often midday, and I don’t stress about it if I never get to it.

    • My morning routine is:
      Wake up too early
      Connections
      Morning Constitutional
      Wordle
      Blog writing
      Duolingo
      Coffee
      Breakfast

Wordle in 5 – my opening word gave me 4 out of 5 letters and none in the right place!! And it still took 5! Perfect connections.

I finally left the office at 5:30 yesterday. We’ve been trying to meet about work in Newark and that call was at 4. A good plan going forward.

Debbie was in a cooking mood when I got home and made a wonderful chicken and pasta dish as well as baked 2 (TWO) apple pies- one is going to the hunt this morning. No exercise for me yesterday, but there sure will be some today! And then pie!!!

Wordle in 4 starting with ADIEU. Perfect Connections: green, yellow, blue, purple.

It was a nice night for a run up and over Kennesaw Mountain. 23 showed up to run, hang at the fire, eat pizza and tell lies. I had Emma and Mia greeting me when I got home and as Barb knows….they are very boisterous in the welcoming.

A new couple registered under Chattaghooligans for BRAG this year so I reached out to find out their story. They ride local in Senoia all the time. Maybe Steve can find new riding buddies!

Nothing on the plate today other than work.

Somehow it’s Wednesday already. We had a friend come visit and spend the night last night. It was great to catch up with her. No plans tonight except that we’re eating LEFTOVERS for dinner! Because we have leftovers! I am going to eat the last of that fish chowder for lunch today, too.

  5. Jenka says:

Oh, I forgot to report that I passed the 2+ year (730 days) streak mark on Duolingo over the weekend. It feels good!

  6. Barb says:

went to Argylle last night with Kristina – what a silly movie. It was $6 Tuesday – so I was ok with it- but if I had paid full price, I’d feel ripped off. I think it is on Apple TV too – as there is plenty of laptops & computers with the Apple logo.

did get a little 2 mile walk in before we went to the movie – the weather was nice.

Oh yeah – The inlaws got their Colorado condo sold – they said the bank told them they needed me to go to the bank with them to be a witness for something notarized. I didn’t really have to be there. I signed nothing. But – I got lunch out of the outing, so it was ok.

  7. Parked at Joe’s Coffee (nee Sacred Ground ms for the OG ITPers/EAVers). Treating myself to a slice of zucchini bread with coffee since I picked up trash through Brownwood Park up Moreland and down Flat Shoals. I also donated five hotel soaps to a pantry for people to claim. Fueling up for som WLF choring, some some already, and time on the trainer later.

Only downside is that my favorite barista, whose name I do not know, isn’t working today.

  8. Barb says:

    blue – green – yellow – purple.
    and Wordle in 4.

I need to figure out what to take to Iowa -I leave tomorrow night.
At least there is no snow in the forecast.

  9. Back from my first set of chores, including liberating six bags of leaves from my across-the-street neighbor’s curb. I should thank him for doing the hard work of bagging it all up for me. 🙂

  10. Bob says:

WTF Wordle! I had 4 correct letters in the wrong place for 3 guesses! 4th guess got me closer and finally got it in 5. Dammit!
Connections was funny with Sponge Bob Square and Pants in the top row. There is no way that would be a category 🙂 Got it with no mistakes though. Green-Yellow-Blue-Purple

I think that T-Mobile hot spot will serve you well as you can take the internet with you wherever you go (within service of course)

    • Oh? I gypped myself of that fun this morning because the first thing I do when the Connections board appears is tap the Shuffle button since I know they would never put four in a group into a row at the start.

I didn’t opt for a mobile hotspot, instead this is T-Mobile’s home internet gateway. However, it is “portable” so I can lug it around if I so desire.

I got a 7 mile walk in today that included a visit to https://o4wtownpantry.com/ on Dekalb Avenue, about 2 blocks down from the MLK MARTA Station. I had a fried chicken biscuit with egg and cheese, and OMFG, it was so good. I went back in the store afterwards to compliment the cook. My walking companion had an egg and gouda croisssant that was apparently equally delicious. I love this store, it’s an elevated version of Candler Park/Grant Park Markets. Highly impressive craft beer selection, well curated wines, groceries, and a kitchen in the back that also makes Indian food. I will be back for sure. I’m not a huge fan of Indian food, but there’s much that I like about this place. The fact that they were playing an old Charlie Parker song was a cherry on top.

  12. Debbie says:

Wordle in 5, I had the letters mulled around to find the other. Conniptions.

Waiting for the hunt to wrap up in middle of nowhere Alabama (Chapel Hill). Things went sideways quickly with a split in the pack. I was road whipping in the right spot to see one group in full cry on a hot line. A coyote was viewed, but he got away quickly. It’s a great fixture to hunt but fairly boring to road whip as it’s pretty vast and roadless so I was lucky to see any action at all.

The cooking spree continued this morning with a pot of gumbo for the hunt breakfast. I used a mix, and then tinkered with it. Hopefully, it will be tasty. I know the apple pie will be!

Cash had his maiden ride at home last night. He was great!
