Damn you Jenka and your wish for rain on Saturday!!! You probably willed my Wordle failure that morning as well! Lol

Since I couldn’t ride on Saturday morning I made an attempt at baking hoagie rolls. I think I ended up with something more like ciabatta, edible, but disappointing. I wound up eating a sausage with pickled red onion in a hoagie roll ciabatta for lunch Saturday.

Yesterday YouTube suggested a video of a man driving around our country. In this video he was driving through rural southeastern Iowa. He visited the house in the painting “America Gothic”, which was a spur off of last year’s RAGBRAI route, so I skipped riding to it. Now, I know what I missed. 🙂

I’m a bad German-speaking-wannabe for skipping Goethe Institut’s Frühlingsfest yesterday. However I did get in a good 24-mile bike ride after the rain passed, but subsequently ruined all of the benefits by drinking too many beers.

Wordle: five, my starter was STOKE

Wordle in 5. I had a similar starter, so we have a similar score.

Since Saturday was a washout, I repaired my band saw. At least I think I repaired it. The band would “wander” as you cut. I replaced the rubber on the 2 wheels that move the band. The sample cutting after the repair seemed to work better, but we shall see.

We celebrated 30 years at the Fed with dinner out Saturday. Our Italian options are weak around here, and we proved it again by having a very mediocre meal at Olive Garden. I think that will be the last time. There is excellent Italian in LaGrange, but with no reservations, we didn’t even chance it.

Sunday was another waste of a day, but I managed to ride 21 between showers. I had planned on more, but dark clouds were in the way and seemed to be building, so I retraced my path.

With Saturday’s washout I was hoping to get a ride in later that day. No such luck as I got a call that my father had a fall and is in the hospital. My brother had to go to on a work trip so I was needed in Orlando to help out. Thankfully nothing broken but he is super weak and can’t really get around very well. Aging parents are a challenge.
Fortunately I was able to get in 24 miles yesterday morning before heading to the hospital, 24 very flat miles which won’t help much with BRAG but at least it was something.
I’m hoping to get dad sorted this week and return home on Friday. Fingers crossed.

We ended up doing a decent walk on Saturday, then plenty of yard work.
Attempted to go to the end of the Atlanta hash, but I guess we got there too early – as no one was there. We decided maybe they got caught (it was an expensive abandoned house, and I’d think they neighbors might have noticed) but that wasn’t it – they weren’t there yet. We went back to the yard work.
Then – grilled & chilled on the deck.

Sunday’s bike ride was a washout in the morning again – and by the time it got nice enough, we just couldn’t get motivated. Eventually decided to go out on the motorcycle, thought we’d grab some wings & go to Schoolhouse Brewery. The place we wanted to pickup the wings was closed on Sunday. Ended up with Zaxby’s – their traditional wings are ok, the boneless ones, don’t thrill us at all.

I love how you all are calling Saturday a “washout.” It rained for like half an hour and the skies were clear by 9:00 am. It did rain enough to cancel the game, so I was happy.

  5. Your Dekalb Farmers Market, Publix, and Lidl. Now home contemplating lunch.
