I guess I am not going to be my desired weight by the start of BRAG, not even close. I’ve missed it by about 25 pounds. 🙁

I saw a guy all kitted up, riding up my street this morning. I wanted to yell “It’s too lat to train!” at him. Lol

Whenever I move, or die, I will miss The EARL. Though I was a chicken shit last night and drove to EAV instead of walking, I saw a great show put on by the band Sunflower Bean.

I made my first attempt at a short crust pastry this week: I made meatloaf pasties. The pasties were not pretty, and the dough was slightly dry, but they were edible and I will try again in the future.

I really need to buy and install a locking mailbox. I hate to spend $200 and do the work because I don’t get too much physical mail these days. But the post office has become so unreliable, and I can no longer count on them to hold mail on the days I’ve requested. I purposely start and end a few days before and after a trip, to check their work; they failed again.

Wet, wet, wet, so I spent the majority of yesterday indoors. At least I got almost everything packed for BRAG.

This has already been a strange year for WLF, and I may point the finger at the bunnies I’ve seen and chased. Something has been eating my marigold plants, and my bean plants, before they have the opportunity to flower and create beans. Also I think some of my plant stunted growth problems is due to poor timing and management on my part. This has been frustrating.

Yesterday I harvested some potatoes, but not enough nor large enough given the cost of seed potatoes. I also transplanted some corn into the plot of soil from which none of the corn kernels I planted there a couple of weeks ago has germinated.

After going out to eat and then to drink more beer I was very disappointed with myself.

Even though we got rained on a bit, and I took a really stupid tumble trying to clip into my pedals in the last mile, Saturday’s 66-mile route was a lot of tough riding and fun, followed by some beer. Getting home at 4pm and worn out sealed my fate for missing the concert for which I had a ticket.

I made a rendition of a meatloaf last night, to which I added one of the spiciest jalapeño peppers that I’ve purchased in some time.

Remember friends, today is Memorial Day. So no mail, less traffic, and no banking. This also means that it’s my “official” 26th Hash Analversary; do I have to be an active hasher to celebrate? 🙂

A good, hard, bicycle ride wipes me out like little else. After driving to Stan’s, drinking one high alcohol beer, and then getting home, I ate a very late lunch and crashed on the couch for hours.

Speaking of riding, it unfortunately looks as if we may get a little wet riding tomorrow. 🙁

Though I’d like to be riding again today, I’m getting my front yard and WLF in order ahead of the rain predicted for the next handful of days.

I’m starting to see lightning bugs again. I can’t express how much this makes me smile.

Nothing new to report today. Frankly, I’m okay with that.

Yesterday’s first-time concoction was a rhubarb apple crumble which was from a book about rhubarb I purchased recently. I got to use the apple corer/peeler device that I bought a couple of months ago.

I rode last night wearing a knee brace in order to protect my ailing knee from any further damage. We are far too close to BRAG for me to suffer a condition that would keep me from riding.

After bragging about how the ITP Estate doesn’t lose power the way it used to, the powerful line of thunderstorms which passed through overnight knocked out the power. I awoke to the sound of UPSes chirping. Had I known that a deluge was to occur I would have made some room in my rain barrel to capture the rain.

Yesterday’s weird experiment was making French onion dip from scratch. I saw this done one a YouTube channel, and having recently finished a jar of Lay’s French Onion Dip I tried to see if mine would be better. Because I had to refrigerate my concoction overnight I’ve yet to taste it, but I will be buying some potato chips today and will try it at lunch.

I also baked a pizza last night. With dough I made? Nope, with dough I bought at Publix. Making my own pizza dough is on my list of things to attempt, however.

Wordle: three, my starter was URINE. Talked myself out of a deuce.

Damn you Jenka and your wish for rain on Saturday!!! You probably willed my Wordle failure that morning as well! Lol

Since I couldn’t ride on Saturday morning I made an attempt at baking hoagie rolls. I think I ended up with something more like ciabatta, edible, but disappointing. I wound up eating a sausage with pickled red onion in a hoagie roll ciabatta for lunch Saturday.

Yesterday YouTube suggested a video of a man driving around our country. In this video he was driving through rural southeastern Iowa. He visited the house in the painting “America Gothic”, which was a spur off of last year’s RAGBRAI route, so I skipped riding to it. Now, I know what I missed. 🙂

I’m a bad German-speaking-wannabe for skipping Goethe Institut’s Frühlingsfest yesterday. However I did get in a good 24-mile bike ride after the rain passed, but subsequently ruined all of the benefits by drinking too many beers.
