It was a warm day in Milledgeville, with only a little bike riding and a lot of beer drinking. Today we head to Swainsboro.

Oh, the Florida house has a contract. I will not celebrate prematurely.

Day three of BRAG is done; 66 miles with rolling hills has been our longest and hardest day thus far. For the first time on a road bike I rode without gloves. Why? Because I accidentally packed one of the gloves I intended to wear into my luggage which I loaded onto the truck.

We are in Milledgeville, and today is a rest day. After splitting from the group last night due to shuttle limitations, I never engaged everyone about their intentions for today.

Another day, another mishap. Yesterday was a lost cleat bolt.

Another night, another storm. Last nights storm started right after I got into my tent, and brought down a limb which fell in between of three tents, one of which was mine.

It’s 5:15am and someone has stated an incredibly loud generator.

Today we ride to Milledgeville.

The early candidate for this year’s BRAG theme is “Overnight Rain”.

I was having a very good ride yesterday until the course went into a 1.75 mile gravel road section, where I proceeded to get a rear flat tire about midway through. I’ve changed plenty of tubes in my time, but for some reason I couldn’t get my CO2 inflator to behave and exhausted two cartridges without getting any of it into the tube. Fortunately one of our riders had a small hand pump and we got back underway. With six days of riding ahead of me and perhaps no way to change a tube, I am concerned. Perhaps I will seek out a bike shop in the next couple of days.

Happy End of May!

Mary Mac’s was really good, especially if you enjoy fattening southern food. I ate chicken fried chicken, with macaroni and cheese, and fried okra. Delicious!

I feel so unprepared for BRAG. I still have to pack some things and hit the road later today headed for Savannah. Bob, I’m not sure when you are targeting to arrive, but I will be in touch later. I also have an unfortunate ant bite on my right leg, or at least I believe it’s an ant bite, that hopefully will go away during the first couple of days since it’s bugging me.

I had a very good day yesterday hanging out with my friend Tamara who flew in from Canada. We drove around, had some breakfast, lunch, and dinner out, the latter two with beer. Finally we ended up at Midway Pub where I watched Atlanta United beat Inter Miami in soccer, while she was fixated on the Edmonton Oilers beating the Dallas Stars in playoff ice hockey.

My goal today is that fewer calories will pass through my lips.

On the penultimate day before I leave for BRAG fun and festivities I will host Tamara, and another of our friends, Diane. The ITP Estate has survived one night with one guest, I hope that a second night with a second guest goes off without a hitch.

Well, I’ve booked travel to/from Amsterdam. I’ve extended a couple of days outside of when the rest of my shipmates will be traveling, but I wanted the opportunity to do a little solo traveling. I may not have been able to book enough time to make it to Germany, but I will have fun regardless. 109,000 Delta Sky Miles doesn’t buy nearly as much as it once did, as I will be with the other cheap fliers in Cattle Class.

It wasn’t until late in the day yesterday that I realized it was my 25th Hash Analversary, if you ignore the fact that I took a seven year hiatus after my big cycling wreck in 2011, and the two year run I am currently on.

Apparently toilet rugs are still a thing, at least according to the Target ad I was sent in email yesterday. I suppose that I just didn’t look in the right place when I was there last week.

I watched another “I’ve Got a Secret” episode yesterday, this one had Cy Young as one of the guests. Young’s appearance on the show led me to read his Wikipedia page. Did you know that Cy Young, winner of 511 games, and for whom the award for the best pitcher in each league is named, was not inducted to the Hall of Fame on his first ballot, and when inducted only received 76% of the votes as positives.

Happy Memorial Day.

I was a very good weekend for me, until I decided to torpedo myself with alcohol. I rode a hard Stone Mountain bike ride, sweating more than I think I have ever sweat while riding, with a few other hashers and then proceeded to drink heavily afterward. I may have passed out on the bed by 6:30pm. No surprise that I am moving slowly this morning.

It’s interesting to be an out-of-touch person. Yesterday I went to Target to buy a new rugs for a bathroom, one to step on when getting out of the shower, and one to step in when using the toilet. Turns out, the latter is no longer made? I couldn’t find a single toilet rug in Target. And since Bed, Bath, and Beyond is no longer in business, I couldn’t think where else I would look for one.

Yesterday afternoon turned out to be unusual. In getting my bike for the ride I discovered that the front tire had gone flat. Then, when I arrived at the start, I discovered that I had driven over wet yellow road paint and got it on my tires and car. WTF? I think the paint splatter happened on my drive to the start since it was also on my bike tire. I replayed my drive in my head, and have no idea where this occurred. But, now that I think about it further it may have happened on my drive home after Tuesday night’s ride. Oh well…
